Posted June 20, 200619 yr Nelly battles to retain lead on singles chart Source : Music Week Nelly Furtado has another battle on her hands for the number one slot this week, after the physical release of Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole (Helium 3/Warner) made a strong start at retail yesterday. Reports suggest less than 200 sales separate the two today, although Furtado has recently proved to sell consistently throughout the week and is likely to retain the top spot on Sunday. Other notable movements within the Top Ten come from Lostprophets (Visible Noise), The Zutons (Deltasonic) and Sergio Mendes feat. The Black Eyed Peas (Concord/UCJ), who all rise significantly since debuting on download sales last week. Michael Jackson’s Stranger In Moscow (Epic) is the probable highest new entry, with Editors (Kitchenware), Ricky (Beat Crazy) and The Kooks (Virgin) all also likely to debut within the Top 20. England’s unconvincing start to the World Cup seems to have affected the nation’s love of football anthems, with singles from Embrace, Baddiel/Skinner/The Lightning Seeds, Tony Christie, Sham 69 & The Special Assembly, Stan Boardman and Crazy Frog all witnessing significant slumps in sales since the weekend. In the albums market, Keane are likely to hold firm atop the chart, with new entries from Fatboy Slim (Skint) and The Automatic (B-Unique/Polydor) both vying for a top three debut. Madonna’s DVD/CD set I’m Going To Tell You A Secret (Warner Bros) is set to enter just outside the Top 10 alongside Dannii Minogue’s AATW/UMTV-released Greatest Hits set, while other new entries to the Top 40 are likely to come from Triniti (UCJ), Hope Of The States (Columbia) and The Divine Comedy (Parlophone). =================================================================== Singles 01 Nelly Furtado - Maneater 02 Muse - Supermassive Black Hole *Climber* 03 Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker Top 5 Shakira - Hips Don't Lie Top 10 Lostprophets - Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast) *Climber* Zutons - Valerie *Climber* Sergio Mendez feat The Black Eyed Peas *Climber* Top 15 Michael Jackson - Stranger In Moscow *New Entry* Top 20 Editors - Blood *New Entry* Ricky - We Are England *New Entry* Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way *Download* Top 30 All American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret *Climber* Young Knives - She's Attracted To *New* Placebo *New* Top 40 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Turn Into *New* 43 Liberty X - X ================================ Albums 01 Keane 02 Fatboy Slim 03 Automatic Top 15 Madonna Dannii Minogue Top 40 Trinity Hope Of The States Divine Comedy Courtesy of Airboy^ @ Haven
June 20, 200619 yr Would love Muse to eclipse Nelly by weekend but think it unlikely. Am really enjoying the 2006 chart stability effect. Chart rule change to downloads would be even better.
