May 4, 200916 yr Author Having peaked at 19, 26, 19 & now climbs into the top 3 (perhaps on the back of My Life Would Suck Without You recent chart success). The original US Pop Idol winner had this song written and produced by Max Martin and Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald and recorded for American singer her second album, Breakaway (2004). It was released in 2004 as the second single from the album in the U.S. and Australia, and the first in Europe. The song reached USA#2 & UK#5 & topped the charts of Canada, South Africa, Indonesia & Poland and went Top 10 in several other territories worldwide. At the Grammy Awards of 2006, Clarkson received a Grammy Award for the song in the category of "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance". "Since U Been Gone" charted at ninety-seven in "Blender Magazine's" 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born. 3 19 Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone (3)
May 4, 200916 yr I dont know why is SUBG so high just ok song. Behind Theze Hazel Eyes should be #3 no SUBG.
May 4, 200916 yr Author So we are either going to have a winner from Barbados or a UK winner for the first time after one Australian & two American acts ......... :naughty: "Umbrella" is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna, featuring a rap verse by American hip hop artist Jay-Z. Terius Nash, Christopher Stewart, and Kuk Harrell wrote the song, and Stewart produced it for Rihanna's third album Good Girl Gone Bad. The track was released worldwide as the album's lead single on March 29, 2007. Following a successful chart performance worldwide topping most charts around the world and a positive reception from critics, the song is listed number three on the 100 Best Songs of 2007 published by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2008, "Umbrella" earned Rihanna and Jay-Z a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in addition to receiving nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It managed to stay number one in the United Kingdom for 10 weeks, the longest time spent by a female and in the 21st century. In the short time since its release, the song has become something of a new standard, having been covered by numerous artists, including All Time Low, Mandy Moore, My Chemical Romance, Biffy Clyro, and Manic Street Preachers. 2 5 Rihanna ft. Jay-Z – Umbrella (2) The song's reign at number one in the United Kingdom and Ireland occurred as the regions were hit by extreme rainfall and flooding, which led The Sun to suggest the two events were related, with the media referring to it as the "Rihanna Curse". The UK-based publication adjudged the single brought bad luck to their country, and mentioned the date of the single's video shot which was Friday the 13th, adding further coincidence of the curse. Before the single's release in May 14, weather temperature in the United Kingdom, London, Athens was relatively high, of which the latter's have reportedly reached to 20 °C. However, just a day after the release, "severe weather warnings hit the headlines". In an article run by The Sun, it urged readers to join the campaign in knocking the songs off the chart's top spot, suggesting the readers with several songs to download instead. Coincidentally, the precise day the song was dethroned in the chart, the weather seemed to improve. A similar situation occurred in New Zealand, where the song hit number one in the early winter of 2007 as the country was experiencing some of the worst storms in its history. During the weather conditions, Taranaki, Tauranga, and Auckland had experienced tornadoes and flooding in the Far North of the country. Once the single was replaced on the top spot, weather condition almost in the entire New Zealand pacified, although Hawke's Bay was still stormed.
May 4, 200916 yr Absolutely adore 'Umbrella' Just the perfect song really I think. Glad it came so high! :D Amazing for 'Bleeding Love' too, another perfect song. Didn't think it would win though! :o Thanks for doing this btw! :D
May 4, 200916 yr Author So the power of X-Factor rules..... "Bleeding Love" is a pop ballad written by Jesse McCartney and Ryan Tedder produced for British singer Leona Lewis's debut album, Spirit. The song is the album's lead single (Lewis's official second single following "A Moment Like This"), released in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in October 2007. "Bleeding Love" became the best-selling single of 2007 in the United Kingdom, and, since the single's release, it has become a major international hit as the best-selling single of 2008. The single has reached number one in over 34 countries, including Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This is the first British artist & song to achieve the best selling single of the year in America since Elton John's Candle in the Wind 1997. 1 21 Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love (1)
May 4, 200916 yr Author Thanks to all of you who voted, or have commentated on this thread. I intend to do the Annual Buzzjack Top 100 Artists of All Time (& Top 40 Worst) in August in (probably) the Lounge forum in time for the results over the August Bank Holiday. So I will see you then.
May 4, 200916 yr IMO 'Bleeding Love' and 'Umbrella' should occupy the top 2 slots of the decade officially. Much more defining songs than Will Young, Gareth Gates and the other $h!t clogging up that top ten. Good countdown here though kinda predictable. BTHE is much better than SUBG but both are brilliant so glad Kelly got some recognition and a shame P!nk wasn't in the top 10 at all :( I should've voted innit lol.
May 4, 200916 yr Epic effort thisispop! :winner: A top 12 of female artists! On Buzzjack?! I’d never have seen that coming! <_< Mr Brightside at No13 is the only small glimmer of sanity! :heehee: :banghead:
