May 4, 200916 yr But Back on topic why cant the The Sats copy her. She Lady G has copied her own style almost vampire-like from other artists Bowie Jones and New wave/New romantic acts. You miss the point, the ONLY reason they're doing it is because they think the "coolness" can rub off on them... Well, it wont... Lady G is successful because she can appeal to a pretty wide cross section of fans... I know Metal/Rock fans, Goths, Indie kids, Alternative types who are playing her stuff, they're NOT gonna listen to The Sats no matter how hard they try..... LG tunes are being played at several Alt/Synthpop/Cyber/Goth clubs that I've been to, places liks Electrogogo, B-Movie, Slimelight, Club Antichrist, all pretty big alternative/goth/synth/fetish clubs in London, yet to hear them play the likes of The Saturdays or Girls Aloud mate.... Just proof of how LG is "crossing the divide"... Most people in the alt scene are kind of adopting her as the mainstream act that it's 'okay to like'.... I'll be honest, I certainly wont say I like LG as much as I like NIN or Goldfrapp or Ladytron, but it's early days yet.....
May 4, 200916 yr I'm not in love with the Saturdays... I only like one of their songs if I'm honest. I just think this thread is inappropriate and can do more harm than good! Look at the controversy already! Right, so we'll just close down ALL topics which remotely upset the bloody "Saturdays Massive" shall we....? Do you really want to give one particular little clique on this board THAT much power....? Dont be daft..... Just an example, Nine Inch Nails are one of my fave bands of all time. I am talking MAJOR LEAGUE FAN here for the 20 years that they've been around. Now, it's a fact that Russ has said really negative and nasty things about them.. Do you see ME (or my fellow NIN obsessive Chris) take so much offence by it that we go around p!ssing and moaning to mods and saying that topics should be shut down because someone said something nasty and mean about Trent Reznor....? DO I FUKK... I take it in the spirit it's intended.... Saturdays fans need to GROW UP AND develop a thicker skin....
May 4, 200916 yr No, You are missing the point completely. Nowhere does it say they are copying her. You are misinterpreting it all wrong. They have said "WE'LL GIVE HER A RUN FOR HER MONEY". This does not say "We are copying her" This does not say "We want to be playing in emo and rock clubs" This does say "We have a different look for the Work video and it even rivals GaGa's style" The Saturdays have always said they will make pop music. They're not trying to expand and appeal to emo/rock/indie folk, because surely the first thing they'd do is change their music? I could understand if they'd started playing rock clubs and emo bars, because then you'd have enough evidence to back your claim up. "We'll give GaGa a run for her money" has nothing to do with any of the points you are making.
May 4, 200916 yr But GaGa is NOT sexy in the slightest  All of the Saturdays are better looking than GaGa - they don't NEED to do raunchy to be sexy.
May 4, 200916 yr They have said "WE'LL GIVE HER A RUN FOR HER MONEY". Well, unless they release summat in AMERICA (where the Pipettes are doing well) or Continental Europe (where Brit acts such as Mel C and Client are doing most of their business), they so wont.....
May 4, 200916 yr Well, unless they release summat in AMERICA (where the Pipettes are doing well) or Continental Europe (where Brit acts such as Mel C and Client are doing most of their business), they so wont.....   They ARE releasing in the US later this year, before we get the second album. They've already got Perez Hilton behind them and say what you like about him, he has a big influence over there.
May 4, 200916 yr All of the Saturdays are better looking than GaGa - they don't NEED to do raunchy to be sexy. Why the fukk is "sexiness" the most important issue here.....? This is actually what Rob's original point was addressing..... Surely it should be more about the MUSIC....? It doesn't matter a damn to me if LG is particularly "sexy" or not, it's the tunes I'm listening to on my bloody N95..... The Sats lasted about the duration it took for me to listen to the album before it got deleted... Ga Ga is still on there.... That's how I judge it anyway......
May 4, 200916 yr This is so un-worthy of a thread it's ridiculous, let alone 6 pages which i wont be reading since it's probably the same old argument recycled over again.
May 4, 200916 yr They've already got Perez Hilton behind them and say what you like about him, he has a big influence over there. Perez Hilton is a big fat fukkin' WHORE who would probably say summat positive about anyone if they paid him enough dosh..... You can buy and sell good reviews and good PR mate...... I don't listen to that sh!t......
May 4, 200916 yr Perez Hilton is a big fat fukkin' WHORE who would probably say summat positive about anyone if they paid him enough dosh..... You can buy and sell good reviews and good PR mate...... I dont listen to that sh!t...... But surely good PR is what they need? No offence, but the 'nod' from a couple of metal heads won't sell records. And you're hardly going to listen to it, you're not a pop fan..

That's how I judge it anyway...... Did I SAY sexiness was the most important issue here? No. I just expressed my opinion that they shouldn't need to try and be like GaGa in order to be sexy (but perhaps they think this would help them sell more records).
May 4, 200916 yr But surely good PR is what they need? No offense, but the 'nod' from a couple of metal heads won't sell records. Like I say, I think that's all kind of fake, and there's similar PR stuff out there that "sells" rock or alt bands (there's one big one that I cant remember the name of).... I dont believe that something is actually good until I hear it..... I prefer to hear about acts through Myspace or the acts' own sites, cos at least there you can actually stream or download tracks.... I'd frankly be more inclined to take on board an individual BJer's recommendation (and I have done a fair few times actually) than listen to the likes of Perez Hilton.....
May 4, 200916 yr (but perhaps they think this would help them sell more records). Ergo, they think some of the LG "cool factor" is gonna rub off on them, you've inadvertantly just agreed with my and Rob's point.....
May 4, 200916 yr You can make your point, but there's no need for the rolled eyes all the time, putting everyone down because they don't agree with you.
May 4, 200916 yr You can make your point, but there's no need for the rolled eyes all the time, putting everyone down because they don't agree with you. Would you rather I said "fukk" or "re****" every second or third word then.....? :P Trust me, (and you may not believe it) I am restraining myself on this thread from just launching into what I really think... I could easily be about 10 times worse.... Heck, I could even go into Russ territory....
May 4, 200916 yr Ergo, they think some of the LG "cool factor" is gonna rub off on them, you've inadvertantly just agreed with my and Rob's point..... I haven't 'inadvertantly' agreed with your point at all...where did I ever express a disagreement with you in the first place? I do agree with your points completely, just not the way you go about expressing your views on the matter.
May 4, 200916 yr I do agree with your points completely, just not the way you go about expressing your views on the matter. Okay, fair cop.... I admit I go off a bit from time to time... But I really am just so sick of certain individuals on this thread who dont seem to "get" that this is NOT an AF, and we do have a license to cut loose on a General Forum without someone coming along and somehow implying that we shouldn't or a thread is "unecessary" simply because it's taking an contrary position.......
May 4, 200916 yr i like their own style anyway! That's original Obviously you care enough about this topic to keep reading, welcome to the fan club! BTW this topic NEEDS to close - it's unnecassary and is sparking quite a few arguments! How utterly ridiculous. Firstly, the Saturdays are anything but original in their styling, they're clones of Girls Aloud! Secondly, this is a FORUM for DISCUSSION and DEBATE. What is the point if we're going to close a thread everytime someone disagrees with someone else? If everyone agreed with everyone we'd have a very boring, dull and pointless website. To be honest, I think Buzzjack is all too ready to close threads as it is because of arguments, and it's often stifling a potentially good and interesting forum. Attitudes like your don't help. We don't need the thread to be closed, but what we could do with is people to remember we're discussing music acts, not the sex lifes of each other's mothers. People need to stop taking every comment here so PERSONALLY. On the actual Saturdays v Gaga debate; I think we're building GaGa up far too much here. Give her a few more years and albums before we decide if she's the next musical Messiah. On the other hand, the way certain acts have taken to namedropping her is a bit desperate and tacky.
May 4, 200916 yr Cba to read 6 pages worth of this thread, but when I saw this yesterday I did LOL. I know the interview will have been edited like this but the comments are so utterly random. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I've done a lot of research into women in the media over the past 6 months and even lind people can see sex sells films, records etc. - Lady GaGa's style is all about raunchyness, I don't think she's ever tried not to be that I mean just listen to her songs they're all sexually motivated. This is the not the same with The Saturdays, they're like a pre-watershed Pussycat Dolls. They're good looking girls but well, its utterly desperate measures if they're going to be very "raunchy" and "sexy" in their next video. More likely their record company has seen a window of oppotunity and wants to exploit it.
May 5, 200916 yr Author And how can anyone criticise the Sats for being sexually provocative in their dress (if this article is to be believed) when Lady GaGa humps everything regardless of its species? She's the raunchiest popstar out there, often to vulgar extents! because the sats were sold as a talented , 'family' girl group who could perform live without resorting to sex... a ploy that some of us KNEW wouldnt last .
