February 28, 201015 yr Really? I get the feeling these days that The Sun supports who it thinks will win rather than vice versa... The Sun came out in support of Cameron a few weeks back They also heavily support him by continually publishing letters from Cameron to its readers They are a massive Cameron propaganda machine atm
February 28, 201015 yr When the Tories use the word Change like William Hague this very minute, they make it sound like one big yawn. Where is the passion, the charisma, the fighting spirit? Not in the Shadow cabinet as far as I can see. No David, I can't see the passion in Teresa May. Now he's doing a Neil Kinnock running through them all saying how great they'd be in the same responsibilities in a Tory cabinet after the election. Don't be daft, David we all know you'd shuffle them round and the shadow minister for string will be the Minister for rubber bands, in the unlikely case that you'd get any kind of a working majority. February 28, 201015 yr Hasn't it done him a lot of good in the polls eh? :P Polls are fickle lol not long ago it was 13 points now its 5 next week it will be 9 etc There is only one opinion poll that matters ^_^ the general election
February 28, 201015 yr Osborne was continuing to call for less regulation even as the banking system was going into meltdown. Well you've asked for this ... goes into work mode: Correct. He was calling for the deregulation of the BoE that was introduced in 1997. The castration of the Bank of England in 1997 by Chancellor Gordon Brown removed practical prudential management, i.e. got rid of fear in bank management. The abandonment of Glass Steagal turbo charged the boom. Basel II got rid of general provisions (hidden reserves) and Mr. Brown threw petrol on the booming fire. The BoE is a lapdog for the Treasury and Mervyn King is barking on a very short leash. The BoE should not be TALKING about splitting retail and investment banks - it should be ACTIVELY breaking them up - right now (which is what Osborne supports). This is the No.1 fix which needs to be done on the wrecked financial system. At a stroke it protects ordinary depositors from the leveraged speculator banking market. At a stroke bonuses would be non-contentious as they would be minimal in retail banks - and subject to real-world (no-bailout) profits and losses in merchant banks. The BoE should also be independent enough to smack the Treasury until it can run balanced government budgets. No more deficits. No more issuing bank notes at the Government's beckoning. The economy will grow FASTER with less government spending. Always remember that whatever government spends is not productive - because all it does is wealth redistribution by force - from producers to non-producers. Wealth transfer, not creation. The BoE should act to save the UK economy, not bark helplessly from the sidelines. What a mess! Complete abdication by the Labour political authorities! We will be lucky to survive as a viable national entity, never mind society.
February 28, 201015 yr I turn more and more against Cameron with every word of this speech. "Our change isn't an airy-fairy undefined concept." ....yet he doesn't say what this "change" is.
February 28, 201015 yr The Sun came out in support of Cameron a few weeks back They also heavily support him by continually publishing letters from Cameron to its readers They are a massive Cameron propaganda machine atm ... And Max Clifford has unofficially came out in support of the Labour Party in the last four weeks as he is according to the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, etc giving advice to Gordon Brown in the run up to the General Election, such as advising him to appear on that cringe inducing Piers Morgan show two weeks back. So the election will be decided by who really does have the most power and influence over the gullible GBP: Rupert Murdoch Inc v Max Clifford.
February 28, 201015 yr So the election will be decided by who really does have the most power and influence over the gullible GBP: Rupert Murdoch Inc v Max Clifford. Cheryl Cole's vote will be the tiebreaker.
February 28, 201015 yr I turn more and more against Cameron with every word of this speech."Our change isn't an airy-fairy undefined concept." ....yet he doesn't say what this "change" is. He's a salesman? I'd like to see him on The Apprentice because I really doubt that. They're BIG changes , really BIG changes1 Edited February 28, 201015 yr by Baytree
February 28, 201015 yr I turn more and more against Cameron with every word of this speech. "Our change isn't an airy-fairy undefined concept." ....yet he doesn't say what this "change" is. i feel exactly the same way about him... imho he just isnt credible and is full of hot air. now this headline "i see it as my patriotic duty to remove brown from office" is the biggest load of bull$h!t the child has ever uttered...clearly trying to 'do a maggie' and wave the patriotic union jack flag... hes a puppet, look hard and youll see the strings... uncredible and pretty unelectable. Cheryl Cole's vote will be the tiebreaker. ... sadly that probably true!
February 28, 201015 yr Author Scotland will probably give Labour more (Scottish)seats in this election than the last one, as the SNP are having a torid time atm. The Tories think they will increase their position from 1 seat to 5 or 6, I doubt this very much. So regardless what the polls say down South, Labour will potentially get 40 to 50 seats from up here. Which means the Tories will have to win even more in middle England to have any chance of forming the next Government. What the Tories really needed this time was a strong SNP which would have taken seats from Labour, but that is not going to happen. Edited February 28, 201015 yr by brian91
February 28, 201015 yr Cheryl Cole's vote will be the tiebreaker. Cheryl Cole has made no secret of the fact that she's a Labour voter. Someone mentioned The Sun giving its backing to Cameron over the past few weeks. Eh? The Sun has backed the Tory Party from the year dot! As bad as Brown is ... Cameron has nothing to offer. The only Tories I've ever had any time for have been Michael Heseltine and Kenneth Clarke (I have my reasons). But neither of them could make me back the Conservatives. If people who are in work today (but not exactly earning a fortune) think they will be any better off under the Tories ... then they deserve to have the Tories in power. Norma
February 28, 201015 yr I don't care about these polls at all. Marginal seats show bigger Tory leads. The only poll that matters is on election day and I still think Cameron will win with at least a 100 seat majority. I'd bet my collection of 1000 CD albums in fact. :D Edited February 28, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew
February 28, 201015 yr I don't care about thsae poills at all. The only one that matters is on election day and I STILL SEE cAMERON WINNING WITH A 100 seat majority. I'd bet my 900 Oh get real! Mr Plate-Face Cameron ... he's a joke! Norma Edited February 28, 201015 yr by Norma_Snockers

February 28, 201015 yr Polls are fickle lol not long ago it was 13 points now its 5 next week it will be 9 etc There is only one opinion poll that matters ^_^ the general election Well said B.A. Hope Gordon's will be packing his bags soon.
February 28, 201015 yr Maybe but not as big a joke as ditherer BULLY BROWN. Brown is NOT a bully! If those 'helpline' bullying stories are to believed ... then he is surrounded by a load of 'nelly-wet-drawers'. In fact ... I think that the 'bullying' stories (which I still believe are political skullduggery) have backfired ... because I think they've made him be seen to at least have a backbone ... which is something that Cameron will only ever find in his haddock! Norma
February 28, 201015 yr Maybe but not as big a joke as ditherer BULLY BROWN. When it has mattered Brown has been decisive. When he's not called upon to make an immediate decision he takes his time. What's wrong with that? Cameron made one pledge when he stood for the leadership - to pull the Tories out of the mainstream centre-right group in the European Parliament. It took him four years to do it. Hardly the actions of a decisive man.
February 28, 201015 yr I think what Cameron needs to do to seal an election win with a good 3 figure majority is say he'll ban all immigration. IMO that would go down well in the country. Also say he won't shift anyone on Incapacity Benefit on to JSA as I'm sure those Tory announcements have alienated many unemployed and sick/disabled people.
