February 28, 201015 yr I think what Cameron needs to do to seal an election win with a good 3 figure majority is say he'll ban all immigration. IMO that would go down well in the country. Also say he won't shift anyone on Incapacity Benefit on to JSA as I'm sure those Tory announcements have alienated many unemployed and sick/disabled people. The whole 'incapacity benefit' thing is one thing that needs to be looked into. I know loads of people who are claiming it and the they are not incapacitated ... just frigging useless! Norma

I know loads of people who are claiming it and the they are not incapacitated ... just frigging useless! Norma How do you know their present health Norma? Are you a Dr? Surely their medical condition is a private matter between the DWP, themselves and their GP. They should clamp down on all the millionaire tax evaders first!
February 28, 201015 yr They should clamp down on all the millionaire tax evaders first! Do you really think that's at all on the Conservative agenda?
February 28, 201015 yr They should clamp down on all the millionaire tax evaders first! I think a certain Michael Ashcroft who is one of their principle funders - while describing Belize as his home - might have something to say about that.
February 28, 201015 yr How do you know their present health Norma? Are you a Dr? Surely their medical condition is a private matter between the DWP, themselves and their GP. I'll be honest ... a very 'close' member of my family is on it ... and apart from being a lazy git ... there is bugger all wrong with him. The only thing that satisfies me is that ... as a fully-paid-up-member of the NI and Tax Paying community ... at least one of my family is benefitting from this benefit ... and if there was no such benefit ... I'd probably give him a hand-out myself! They should clamp down on all the millionaire tax evaders first! You will not get a jot of argument from me here! May I ask ... do you think you'll be better off under the Conservatives? Because you won't! Norma
March 1, 201015 yr Brown is NOT a bully! If those 'helpline' bullying stories are to believed ... then he is surrounded by a load of 'nelly-wet-drawers'. In fact ... I think that the 'bullying' stories (which I still believe are political skullduggery) have backfired ... because I think they've made him be seen to at least have a backbone ... which is something that Cameron will only ever find in his haddock! Norma spot on norma .... brown appears to be mature, and after all the recent financial bollox many of us have been much better off over the last 13 years. this will be remembered when push comes to shove. cameron simply isnt credible ... hes 'sound byte boy'. I think what Cameron needs to do to seal an election win with a good 3 figure majority is say he'll ban all immigration. IMO that would go down well in the country. Also say he won't shift anyone on Incapacity Benefit on to JSA as I'm sure those Tory announcements have alienated many unemployed and sick/disabled people. he CANT ban all imigration you idiot, we are in the european community so anyone who holds an eu passport can legaly come here. How do you know their present health Norma? Are you a Dr? Surely their medical condition is a private matter between the DWP, themselves and their GP. They should clamp down on all the millionaire tax evaders first! oh stop trying to justify yourself...NO ONE HERE believes that you cannot do anything, all scroungers should have their benefits stopped, leaving more money for people who really have a disability, like injured soldiers, 'stress' isnt an illness, its a licence to skive. May I ask ... do you think you'll be better off under the Conservatives? Because you won't! Norma which is the only reason id consider voting for cameron... just to get that idle scrounger off benefits and eith back to work or starve.
March 1, 201015 yr May I ask ... do you think you'll be better off under the Conservatives? Because you won't! Norma TBH I don't think they'll make any difference to my life at all. Let's say they move every person off IB tomorrow and on to JSA, where are the jobs? People have tried for years to get jobs. Did anyone see the BBC1 programme about immigrant workers last week? They've taken a lot of our jobs. Is it likely that out of say 100 people for even the most menial job, I'll be the best, someone they want to employ? I have no employment references and no personal references either. I don't know of anyone who would give me a good character reference. :( Who wants an employer's reference from as far back as 1978? I'm quite friendly with a guy who owns the aquarium shop I go to and he says he wouldn't employ me in a million years. Edited March 1, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew

Yes I thought that program (The Day The Immigrants Left) was the highlight of Channel 4's comedy offering so far this year. To make it more 'real' they used that ugly bloke from Dragon's Den to present it. You know what though Chris ... if that ugly bloke can get a job in TV .... there's no reason why anyone, not even you, couldn't find a job. Norma PS - I really do like the last line in your post (the aquarium owner). You come in for some stick here but if you stopped posting on Buzzjack ... I for one ... would miss you! March 1, 201015 yr Well Norma I've been buying tropical fish and stuff in the aquarium shop for 14 years now and asked him many times for a job or even if I could help a bit for no pay, with the permission hopefully of the DWP, to get me motivated a bit, but he says NO. :( Are we talking about the same TV show as the one I mean was definitely on BBC1? They put British people in to Immigrants' jobs for two days, asparagus picking and potato packing were two of them. Edited March 1, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew
March 1, 201015 yr i feel exactly the same way about him... imho he just isnt credible and is full of hot air. now this headline "i see it as my patriotic duty to remove brown from office" is the biggest load of bull$h!t the child has ever uttered...clearly trying to 'do a maggie' and wave the patriotic union jack flag... hes a puppet, look hard and youll see the strings... uncredible and pretty unelectable. ... sadly that probably true! Who do you think should be leader then instead of him? If you dislike Dave then name someone you think could be doing better right now. I think Ken Clarke should be leader tbh. I also think either William Hague or more likely Boris Johnson will succeed Cameron. Of course Boris needs a Commons seat first. Edited March 1, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew

Of course Boris needs a Commons seat first. i like ken clarke, at least he appears to be mature enough to run the country, he IS a credible leader and possible pm. cameron simply isnt, if he was the tories would win the election by a landslide ...just like thatcher and blair did, cameron wont. in fact the votes he gets will be mainly protest votes against browns recent financial troubles and not because cameron is a young dynamic believable minister.
March 1, 201015 yr yes i saw it , it was on bbc1. the programme perhaps wasnt exactly 'fair', but either way, it showed exactly why immigrant workers get low paid jobs here. because 1) they are prepared to WORK , and 2) even the lowest wage here is better then what they get at home. out of the 12 who got 2 day jobs, only half finished (a quarter didnt even start). it started well, with all the usual guff 'dey tekkin our jowbs'... but the reality of this experiment was that very few were really prepared to work, and those that did were second rate. if i was a grower in east anglia, who would i employ?... on that showing, immigrants.

I was sure there were commercials in it when I watched it! Maybe it was just that I went to put the kettle on and imagined the breaks. Come on though Rob ... how bloody contrived was that show? Three out of four people at the restaurant not turning up? Two with food-poisoning and one because he couldn't be bothered? Of the three at the potato packing plant ... one texts the line-manager at midnight the day before saying 'I've just got in and don't think I'll be up to it tomorrow'. Come on ... the whole thing was scripted. Frigging hell ... the new Michael Winner 'dining' show was more factual. Norma

Norma was it?.... they all gave it the blah blah blah before hand. i dont think it was scripted, those that worked were clearly inferior workers to the immigrants ... im not saying it was particually factual, but as an example. the employers backed up the premis, they employ immigrants because they work hard for low wages.

I've worked with volunteer groups and youth organisations for years and that's exactly what happens........lightest difficulty and they're off, never to be seen again.

I've worked with volunteer groups and youth organisations for years and that's exactly what happens........lightest difficulty and they're off, never to be seen again. I think you're right to an extent ... I too have worked with such people. This particular program though, seemed to be engineered towards reaching the ending that both the makers wanted and what the makers thought (correctly) the British television viewing public wanted. Whether it was by scripting it that way ... or by deliberately setting about getting people that they knew would give up (some before even beginning). I mean come on ... a couple of those young lads couldn't even string a sentence together. And one of the older guys (who did a shift in the potato packing plant) had his JSA Record Sheet littered with spelling mistakes ... which the camera lingered on! I'm certain if the researchers hadn't been so bloody lazy ... they could have got some people in that area who actually DID want to work ... the outcome would have been very different. ..... but the program wouldn't have been half as 'entertaining'. March 2, 201015 yr Back bang on topic. Latest poll showing Tories at 6% so the other one at 2% was a rogue one. Cameron will be PM with a working majority.
March 2, 201015 yr Back bang on topic. Latest poll showing Tories at 6% so the other one at 2% was a rogue one. Cameron will be PM with a working majority. A 6% swing has the Tories on 243 seats and Labour on 283... How can you be certain it was a rogue one either? ComRes consistently return a larger Tory lead than other polls...I'm trusting YouGov on this one, seeing as they regularly poll. Last time they had 6%, then it went to 2%. ComRes had 8% and returned 6% this time.
March 2, 201015 yr A 6% swing has the Tories on 243 seats and Labour on 283... Are those seat numbers based on a 6% uniform swing because they're probably on 8% in marginals? They're polling a bit higher there.
