LOL @ the comments in this thread  Tbh, if people had predicted Sunderland to go down i'd find it hard to argue based on how absolutely hopeless we've been recently. A pathetic performance against bottom club West Brom then an arguably worse one at home against Everton's reserves do not make for fun times on Wearside. If i'm brutally honest I can't see us picking up another point this season, which means the only way we'll stay up is off the back of other teams dropping points. If Hull beat Stoke and the mags beat Boro this weekend and we get beaten by Bolton (Possible, Rob Styles is the ref), then things don't look good.

Leeds being in League 1 is brilliant. 90% of their fans are deluded which I find even more brilliant. They still think believe they're a Premier League club.

I'd love to see their faces if they lose their Play-offs and we (Preston) win ours - they gave us so much grief after their victory over us in the 2006 Play-offs (their gameplan seemed to be to batter us off the pitch - well, it seemed to be: they finished with nine men). It was soooo much fun to watch us whip them 4-1 a few months later.

^ Indeed you they do a Houdini act that Fulham pulled off last year?:

I think, if anyone wins tomorrows match between Newcastle & Boro, then the losing team is down. West Brom need a miracle still, with Liverpool to play yet.

The losing team tomorrow I think will be down yes. West Brom do have to play Liverpool but next Sunday Man Utd will have played 3 times, 7 points and the title is there's, Liverpool then don't have anything to play for.

I don't think they will stay up but I really want them to. They are a good side and I admire Tony Mowbray for sticking with his principles, they're certainly better than the three above them as they're all truly shocking teams.

In a way I would like to see Newcastle go down, nothing against them but if they stay up then we are going to have it rammed down our throats day in and day out by the media about the "miracle" Shearer performed and how Alan Shearer is the second coming of Christ :manson:

Hear, hear. Well, except for the part of having nothing against them

Hull, the loser of Newcaste v Boro and West Brom to go down now I reckon. Was a massive point for us today against Bolton, arguably could have nicked it but then so could Bolton right at the death bar an outstanding save from Fulop. The 5,000 Sunderland supporters drove their team on and i'm happy to say I was one of them present today. Could make my second MOTD appearance tonight

Got a feeling the mags will win Boro and it'll be Hull, Boro and WBA to go down. The bastards always manage to get themselves out of situations like that :(

If West Brom get anymore than 0 points at Liverpool i'd be shocked. Seriously if they come and play football Liverpool will tear them to shreds as counter-attacking is one of our greatest strenghs. West Brom don't exactly have the greatest defence in the world either... I don't want t see West Brom go down as I like them, but they are already doomed by some major goal difference miracle.

Using the BBC predictor i came out with

16. Sunderland -22 37 (i predicted 0-5 against chelsea on the last day for the massive drop, sunderland fan here, and i expect chelsea to batter us)

17. Newcastle -19 34

---------------------------

18. Middlesbrough- 26 34

19. Hull - 27 34

20. West Brom -32 31

There's a chance they'll be resting players for the FA Cup final? Plus they have nothing to play for?

Who am I kidding? We're going to get absolutely raped, Alan Pardew MOTD2-style.

If there's a god it'll be 0-0, doing us and a handful of other teams a massive, massive favour. Neither team look like scoring recently, so it's possible, but then neither team can defend either so god knows.

Out of the two of them, i'd rather Boro got 3 points if there had to be a winner but meh. Should be a good match.

Middlesbrough doomed.

Can only see Newcastle escaping now. :( Hull or Sunderland will be the other team going down for sure.

Aye, watching Boro tonight only highlighted why they're in such trouble. Little quality up front (How many chances did Emnes scuff?), no organisation at the back (Defending was shocking for all 3 Newcastle goals). Things aren't looking good for the smogs and it looks like they're going down with the baggies.

Newcastle will now stay up, which is wonderful as there's nothing I enjoy more than hearing Sky jizzing in their pants over how "the messiah" saved them from the unthinkable :)

If we can get a point at Pompey next week we'll be safe. If not, it's not looking good going into the last game of the season against Chelsea.

Who do Hull play next week? I know they've got Man Utd last game of the season (if the title race is still on i'm hoping for a Hull victory but I think we've got more chance of seeing Preston in the EPL next season than that happening) so it looks unlikely they'll win that. Next weekend looks to be very crucial. Regardless of whether Newcastle staying up I really can't see them doing anything for about another 10 years. Need a complete rehaul of their squad - its good on paper, but so many individual players who would play a lot better in a different team as opposed to Newcastle.

But like I say momentum is with Newcastle now, would take an epic f*** up for them to be relegated now.

Well despite the fact Newcastle's 2nd shouldn't have stood, we were crap!

I mean CLEAR it when it's in the box, don't do the Chuckle Brothers to me to you, and seriously we spent far too much time in the final third dilly dallying.

Bring on Peterborough! :(

The momentum is with Newcastle but stranger things have happened! Shearer basically said he's staying on in the post match interview. If he can't 'rule it in' as much as he can't rule it out then basically it means he can be persuaded to stay quite easily.

He's the only reason why I want them to stay up anyway and fair play to him tonight as two of his subs scored tonight.
