May 12, 200916 yr Weren't they formed specially for Eurovision? Or was Sinead just stuck at the front of an existing band? Anyway, Et Cetera entered the Irish chart last week (at number 13 I think?)
May 13, 200916 yr et cetera charted at number 15 in ireland last week and sinead joined together with black daisy especially for eurovision, sinead has previusly taking part in your a star and made the final 6 i think(your a star is like the uk;s x factor but its no longer on now)
May 13, 200916 yr Just watching the repeat, although am not a fan of any of them just yet (I'm waiting for Finland ) Bulgaria's entry though is HORRIFIC!
May 13, 200916 yr I think I am now FULLY supporting Finland! EuroDance/Chavvy beats... EVERYONE'S A WINNER :kink:
May 13, 200916 yr Good qualifiers last night, the nine that were widely expected + Israel who really pulled it out of the bag and deserved to go through :)
May 13, 200916 yr So, after the ridiculously AMAZING night, I want to comment on performances. :D 1. Montenegro // Andrea Demirovic - Just Get Out of My Life 6th Nice performance, i liked it better than the studio version... That guy annoyed me much with his ass shaking though. lolz. 2. Czech Republic // Gipsy.cz - Aven Romale 12th Nice voals i should say, atrocious performing, didn't even look a thing of a 'superhero'. The award for bringing something new to the contest though :D 3. Belgium // Copycat - Copycat 13th Not very good live, the studio version is great though. Noone got you, Patrick :( 4. Belarus // Petr Elfimov - Eyes That Never Lie 8th Better than i was expecting tbh. Vocals were good, i really liked that girl behind the sheet idea. Overally, a decent performance, but had it been a more pop track it'd have qualified imo, because the song is so generic and bland. 5. Sweden // Malena Ernmann - La Voix 14th Bottom 5 of the night. I mean how she won MF?! Well, i know how because i watched it but, anyway, she was so nervous (at least it looked like this) that she would slip and she slipped all over again. VERY nice ending though. 6. Armenia // Inga & Anush - Jan Jan 3rd God, i love them. The performance was rather interesting and different. They did their best. Although one of the sisters was constantly slipping, the other one was fixing all the mistakes. Go, Armenia, go! 7. Andorra // Susanne Georgi - La teva decisio (Get A Life) 18th Bottom 5 performance of the night again. Bland, bland, bland :snif: Even worse than on the first rehearsals. I bet it's bottom 3 of the SF1 results. They should've stayed with the non-english chorus. 8. Switzerland // Lovebugs - The Highest Heights 11th I'm seriously thinking this was placed 10th with 1 point behind the 11th placed Israel that has been chosen by the Jury. Quite undeserved DNQ but i am quite indifferent to the song itself... 9. Turkey // Hadise - Dum Tek Tek 5th This was huge! Although i didn't like most of the song (Hadise's vocals-wise) I have fallen in love with it. It has so much charm! And i absolutely ADORE how she screams "Dum Tek Tek". lolz. 10. Israel // Noa & Mira Awad - There Must Be Another Way 1st GOD, I almost shed a tear even after the first music notes came on. It was such a fantastic performance! I noticed slight changes in the song version, although it might be because the music was played live. The BEST performance of the night! 11. Bulgaria // Krassimir Avramov - Illusion 15th Krassimir was standing still most of the song and the ladies had to deal with the vocals, only when he managed to recover his breath he was singing. I imagine how much time it took to record the studio version of this song. lolz. $h!t. Even Elvis was better. 12. Iceland // Yohanna - Is It True? 4th No surprises there at all when the 'last but one'-th qualifier was announced. It was obvious she'd take the remaining place in the final. Nice song, amazing vocals. The very beautiful girl. I didn't notice Euroband member standing with her on the scene though. lolz. 13. Macedonia // Next Time - Nesto sto ke ostane 10th Great performance, surprised it didn't qualify, but let's be honest a Macedonian rock song doesn't do well in Eurovision. 14. Romania // Elena - The Balkan Girls 17th To learn she's a daughter of a priest was a great shock for me. lolz. Slutty behavious, lyrics, her dress etc - all prove it wrong. I hope your father doesn't watch eurovision and you didn't tell him about you performing there. Crappy performance, i don't know what attracts people in her. 15. Finland // Waldo's People - Lose Control 7th An underwhelming show, with great vocals and good pirotechnics = qualification ion the SF1 of ESC 2009. 16. Portugal // Flor-de-lis - Todas As Ruas Do Amor 2nd The 2nd best performance of the Semi 1 by a f***ing MILE! She was so cute and innocent, reminded me MUCH about last year's Vania. It's good btw. She even CRIED after she finished singing. I almost cried too. 17. Malta // Chiara - What If We 9th Perfect lyrics, perfect outfit, perfect voice, perfect performance... still, something's missing. I can't get even a little shiver on my back, that i had with Israel, Portugal and Armenia with Iceland just to name a few, when i listen to this song. 18. Bosnia-Herzegovina // Regina - Bistra Voda 16th God, she was so nervous. Spoiled the song completely. I'm not backing them anymore. The studio version is amazing though. I still get the shivers when i listen to it. __________________________________ Overally, I have never been SO happy with the results of Eurovision (even if it's just the semi ones!) :w00t:
May 13, 200916 yr 8. Switzerland // Lovebugs - The Highest Heights 11th I'm seriously thinking this was placed 10th with 1 point behind the 11th placed Israel that has been chosen by the Jury. Quite undeserved DNQ but i am quite indifferent to the song itself... Yeah, I bet it is :o I love the song though  :snif:
May 13, 200916 yr It was such a great performance from Switzerland that It went up my chart! Macedonia is not bad, they had a chance for qualification... Montenegro is a good song but a shady performance. The dancer is not liked, I always say that they should have made more dancers ! (with different dancing else it would be a shaking song!)
May 13, 200916 yr Montenegrin performance was amazing! It's one of the cases that i love live version more than the studio one. :o And actually, throw away my phrase "I'm completely satisfied with the results" - NO! Montenegro should've Q'd :snif:
May 13, 200916 yr Yey! Portugal passed. And I daresay, it was easily in the top 3 best performance. I predicted all the 10 qualifiers. I only felt sorry for Switzerland but his vocals were not good. Iceland the best performance.
May 13, 200916 yr I loved Malena's live backing vocalists, they contrast so nicely to her vocals  I would be disappointed to now see La Voix flop in the final
May 13, 200916 yr I agree, I'd be surprised to see La Voix in the top 15, if she performs like she did in SF1.
May 13, 200916 yr All the qualifiers = qualifiers from 2008 except Malta <-> Georgia :o :o Omg, I wonder if Georgia would have qualified if they were allowed in...
May 13, 200916 yr all that this proves is that some countries consistently send good songs and others consistently send utter $h*te :P apart from Switzerland who are the kings of the great song but poor live vocal :(
May 13, 200916 yr Just watched this on Iplayer and wrote my views going along and hadn't read this before so here are my views on the Semi Final 1 Opening: Okay I don’t really get the whole start thing, but the flying bird is a nice looking effect, is this meant to be a song for peace? Humm Presenters: Gah I am terrified by them, and those too kids are scary, there like 8 how did they win Junior Eurovision 3 years ago? Wow they are ridiculously plastic and scary, why are the presenters always like this? I miss the ones that were like Will & Grace from a few years ago. Song 1: Montenegro I don’t like this, it’s very boring, sounds a bit like an Ashlee Simpson rehash. (see Out Of My Head) I would be surprised if this qualified to be honest. Don’t see the point of the dancing guy either. Ooh Westlife esque key change, boring really. 4/10 Lets learn Russian: I do like the whole Russian words thing, it’s a really nice touch I think, however how many words do they have to teach us? Song 2: Czech Republic Okay I wasn’t looking at the screen when he started signing and I thought this was a woman singing... If it wasn’t for the song, I would like staging of this, I think the superhero/cartoon theme is nice. But this song is worse than the one from Montenegro, not only that he is really out of tune, this is something I would expect from Latvia to be honest, after their Pirates from last year. 2/10 Hello MISS RUSSIA, she’s pretty. Song 3: Belgium We don’t need another Elvis, one is enough. I really like the Russian stage, it’s a nice shape and big for a big staging performance. Back to this song, it’s really not great, better than the last one just. I hope this doesn’t qualify as it is slightly scary. If they are going to use the fake microphones as if they are real the backing singers should really stand closer to the microphones... 2.5/10 Song 4: Belarus And a Karavai for all people involved in this contest so far. Oooh this is different and I like it. That’s not who I expected the singer to be lol, I was expecting it to be the thing behind the cloth. Best song so far by miles, a song that could potentially do well here if it was released as a single. I will be disappointed if this doesn’t qualify, having only heard the UK’s entry and the four so far in semi final 1 for this years contest, this is so far my favourite. 8/10 Song 5: Sweden This sounds familiar at the start... This woman is ever so slightly terrifying. Okay I am bored by her, good voice boring though, the high pitched chorus is nice. However I don’t think this will qualify. 5/10 Song 6: Armenia What’s with all the scary looking people tonight? This is actually a good song and staged well, something about a womble? I hope this qualifies, just as I like it and it is different. 6.5/10 Song 7: Andorra Good voice for the Andorran woman. She reminds me of someone but can’t think who. I like this song being bi-lingual. I really like this song it is my favourite so far, however Andorra have never qualified before and unfortunately for them, despite me liking this song I doubt it will qualify. 8.5/10 Song 8: Switzerland Oooh I like this song, This semi final is starting to get better and better, my new favourite of the night, yes it’s changed three times in eight songs :P. Yes we get you have big guitars. Yu too can clap your hands and take part in this bands song! That song seemed a bit short to me. 9/10 Song 9: Turkey The post cards are nice. Oooh it’s Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. Good singer, good dancer, good staging, can’t fault it, I like it, so it’s destined to fail! Hey lady it’s a song contest not a dance contest! 8.5/10 Song 10: Israel The crowd seem to like it, I don’t really like the idea of message songs in Eurovision, however this one is for a good cause. It is really boring though. Someone in the crowd really likes it. 4.5/10 Gah the presenters are back, wow they are fake and scary. At least the green room report is attractive and normal! “I wonder if they are the only two gay fans of Eurovision” That’s a bit of a stereotypical comment. Song 11: Bulgaria Gah cape warning! The lead singer looks like he escaped from an episode of Robin Hood. I dislike this song. Gah my ears! Don’t screech like that please! I want to wipe this song from my memory. Worst song so far! 1.5/10 Where did the words go? Oh Sneg, there they are Song 12: Iceland Ah the joys of I Player, good times for pausing as I need the loo. I like Iceland, it’s a nice slow ballad, and got a good draw coming after Bulgaria, I hope it doesn’t get lost being in the middle, as it is a very strong and a great song, time for a new favourite I think. 9.5/10 <3 Song 13: FYR Macedonia Klassno It sounds a bit like Chesney Hawks, The One and Only, if I am being honest. Its a nice tune but boring, I feel like it is not going anywhere though. It is actually very dull. Was this really the best they had to offer? 5.5/10 Song 14: Romania I like this already! Is the woman in the background a backing singer? This song should possibly be more dancey to go with the lyrics. Ooooh good hold on that note! I really like the whole stage this year, much better than Serbia last year from what I remember of that. 7.5/10 Song 15: Finland That woman’s voice at the start sounded familiar, like a song I have heard before. I know it sounds a bit like Cascada, wouldn’t be good. Even the chorus, it actually sounds like it has been lifted right out of that song. I don’t like the male vocal, which is like a rapping attempt by someone who isn’t bothered. I think this song will get big points from the UK. 8/10 Random intersect where an advert would be Song 16: Portugal (I swear I heard him say china) This music sounds familiar once again. This whole set up reminds me of Irelands entry from either last year or the year before with the woman who had some weird drum/tambourine in her hand I forget her name, she got like five points though. This song is alright, but dull, doubt it will qualify lol. 4.5/10 Song 17: Malta Oh a Euro-veteran. Big voice from the lady. Is the contest over then.... (bad joke there) I hope this qualifies, as it is a good song, and she has a brilliant voice. Could be a dark horse if it manages to qualify. 9.5/10 Song 18: Bosnia- Herzegovina Being called Regina is a good enough reason to qualify in my books. Okay this song is actually a bit boring to be honest, vocally good, everything else is just below par really. 5/10 The green room host is so much better than the main hosts! Nice graphic for the results. Turkey Dragging it out much? Sweden Israel.... Portugal Malta :D What is the button pushing noise, it sounds like something out of spyro... Finland! B-H no surprises there to be honest. Romania ( I didn’t realise Romania was eastern Europe?) Wow those presenters aren’t in anyway funny, I want them gone Armenia! I liked them Iceland wooo my favourite from the semi!
May 13, 200916 yr Song 5: Sweden This sounds familiar at the start... This woman is ever so slightly terrifying. Okay I am bored by her, good voice boring though, the high pitched chorus is nice. However I don’t think this will qualify. 5/10 it sounds like Nessun Dorma :P
May 13, 200916 yr The 'flying bird' is the 'zhar-ptica', the element of Russian national fairytales. It was a small fairytale staged in the beginning :P I absolutely agree about the commentators thing. They are disastrous. LOLZ. Forgot to say - the cards are something INCREDIBLE! She's not Miss Russia, she's Miss WORLD! And, of course, disagree about Portuguese and Israeli songs...
