May 15, 200916 yr UGH! Norway! What is the FUSS?! :drama: I dunno, and I'm sure people say this pretty much every year, but this year, I am actually feeling quite POSITIVE for the UK . It's quite... ODD. Hopefully we get our highest finish in a while.
May 15, 200916 yr I have a question about Ukraine and the live vocals rule. I read on Wikipedia that all vocals must be live. Even the backing vocals cannot be from a recording. I was very impressed that Svetlana Loboda was able to keep singing while being hoisted by the Spartans. But then when she was playing drums, the vocals continued and she didn't seem to be singing at first. Were these vocals really live? Was there another woman on stage that I didn't notice or what?

It's actually vey common to "hide" a backing singer behind stage scenery etc. I think there was only three boys with Svetlana? In which case, don't quote me on this, but there was clearly a hidden backing vocalist or two... The worst culpit though was greece - Sakis barely sung a note. If I remember right, Alex Panayi was on the backing vocals, but hidden somewhere, maybe lying down behind the conveyer belt :kink:

May 15, 200916 yr It was! What was wrong with Albania's dress? I was more worried about the man in the green gimp outfit, or her two 80s breakdancers... I loved loved loved Ukraine, but some of the camera shots were WAY off, it was almost like some other delegation (Norway?) had bribed them... :kink:

May 15, 200916 yr TBH I think she looked cute in the dress. A touch of the Tina Karol's. But maybe you're more of a fashionista :kink:

May 15, 200916 yr I think Ireland's performance was really good. It wasn't perfect, but it was one of the best on the night, methinks. Denmark sounded AWFUL. You couldn't hear Sakis, although that's not a bad thing. Cyprus OH JESUS. Same goes for Croatia and Poland. I think the only reason we failed to qualify was because the song wasn't good enough. The performance was great, but the song wasn't that memorable when the other 18 songs were performed. :(
May 15, 200916 yr I actually really liked the song. I hate to say it Cal, but I think the vocals weren't good, especially the backing vocals :(
May 15, 200916 yr Gosh, she looked so small and stupid in that dress! :puke: My thought was, "My gods, do all the women in Albania have such long legs?" It was probably mostly an illusion of the high heels and uplifted dress, but in any case, I thought she looked hot.

May 15, 200916 yr Was it you who betted 20 pounds on Ireland not Q-ing? :kink: Yep, but we changed it to €10 each way, so I got €10. :kink:

Hopefully we get our highest finish in a while. The performance of Norway wasn't that good, but the song is fantastic. Ticks all the boxes for runaway winner... And this is the first year in a LONG time (since 2005 anyway...definitely since 2002) I've felt at all positive :dancing:
