She's AMAZE. <3 The youngest and most successful South African idol she won at 17 and has been signed with Sony BMG - contract ends this year.

Her debut album "Just Gonna Be Me" has been certified Platinum is South Africa along with 3 consecutive #1 singles: "Love Is All Around", "Kiss of Life" and "Wind It".

She was the opening act for Celine Dion's Taking Chances Tour.

 

She's apparently shipping over to the UK (the country she wants to conquer next) near the end of the year with a new record label deal (already hinted Def Jam), she first has to finnish school lol ..

 

Most of y'all know "Wind It" from BJSC and should be set as the first single - very Rihanna-esque clubbish.

 

Other MAJOR possible singles would be the hip-hop banger "Shout It Out" and IMMENSE opening ballad "Just Gonna Be Me".

 

I'd describe her as Alesha Dixon meets Miley Cyrus meets Whitney Houston.. She is EXTREMELY talented and her album is filled with power ballads very similar to those of the likes of Celine, Whitney and Christina Aguilera. Album also includes covers of Agnes's "Love Is All Around" which went Gold in SA within a day and Monrose's "Everybody Makes Mistakes"..

 

Definitely something to look out for, she has the appeal and talent. All her 3 South African singles are on YouTube along with her South African Idol performances which include Christina Aguilera's "Hurt", PCD's "I Don't Need A Man" and Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes"

Update:

• She's finishing school in two months.
• Record label has taken note of how big Agnes - Swedish Idol - whose song Love Is All Around has been covered Jody. So they might hang onto her and do some full-on promotion starting in the UK, like what Agnes's label did.
• Like Agnes, Jody will be releasing her first single (which will hands down be Wind It) and then only releasing her album around the time her second single is released which is rumoured to be a ballad single "Who Am I" (I hope and not Kiss Of Life) and then end off on another upbeat clubby track "Shout It Out" as 3rd single. Rumour only though.
• Album will not be redone as of yet. But hopefuly it does and some new hit-potential songs get added in place of some of the not-so-convincing covers.

WOO, Who Am I is now my favourite song by her :wub: Power urban ballad, insanely catchy beat and the bridge - goosebumpful <3 Definitely without a doubt Kathaldazia next BJSC entry :heehee:

Jody is performing the international theme song for the Youth Olympics, along with Jessica Mauboy, Sean Kingston and others. The YO are nothing major afaik and I probably won't be watching :lol: But still..
