May 31, 200916 yr Nah. There's no way Rafa can mix up the 4-2-3-1 formation we play now. We saw what happened with Robbie Keane (also I bet that's the last time Rafa takes player reccomendations off any players...). I think we'll sign another striker this summer, but not Owen. We need someone whose willing to sit on the bench and be an able alternative to when Torres is injured and Owen is not that player. Someone like Tevez however... I seriously think Owen will end up at Man City, Spurs or Everton. Definitely not Liverpool. Yeah I agree you do need someone who can cover for Torres but of course as a United fan I'd love it if someone like Owen came in and you tried to change your system to play three :P And I've never got the Berba hate personally.. the apparent lazy player covered at right back for a few minutes before he came back into position a few weeks ago, he doesn't run around like Rooney and Tevez do but he subtly covers the same amount of ground and he contributed a hell of a lot of assists this season, look at the stats and you'll see! Anyway I've learned in 20 years as a United fan to never question Fergie's judgement about anything ;) As well as Nani and Tevez, Park has also been rumoured to leave which I wouldn't be happy with as I think he's done pretty well for us this season! If they do all leave then I hope we at least get someone who can play on the left! *has dreams of stealing Ashley Young from Villa*
June 1, 200916 yr Chelsea have made enquiries about Peter Crouch so I hear. :o So have we. If Chelsea's put in for him we've got no chance
June 1, 200916 yr Author Apparently Chelsea see him as a replacement for Drogba. Either way if he moves Liverpool inherit a nice sell-on clause. Can't see him going to Chelsea though. A lot of bench time for a striker who'll want to play at the World Cup. I can't see him at Sunderland either, purely because of Jones. I could see him at Spurs though. No doubt for about £15m too.
June 2, 200916 yr Doesn't matter who we bring in Roo, Jones cannot or will not work up front with a partner. It wasn't just Cissé either, he's played up front with a few different players and it just never works. I'd like to see us bring in Crouch or Bent though through the summer, both would fit in here and do a job imo.

Especially since he'll have World Cup ambitions and would get more game time at Sunderland than Spurs. Hell knowing Steve Bruce I could see him bringing Owen to Sunderland.

June 2, 200916 yr Author Gareth Barry to Man City. Man City really have no transfer market knowledge. £12m for a player whose gonna be out of contract in the summer?! Only Man City.
June 2, 200916 yr So he wanted to leave Villa to play in the Champions League and he leaves to a club that isn't in Europe at all?
June 2, 200916 yr Author To be fair Man City are likely to challange for Europe this season (not Champions League mind). Its a bit of an odd decision, but with the money Man City are offering for him, Villa would be mad not to sell! I'm hoping this means that Alonso won't leave for us now, or else Benitez would have come in for Barry by now i'm sure. Man City really need to work on their $h!te defence before they go buying any more attackers and midfielders though.
June 2, 200916 yr I think that's a great signing for Man City. They can now move Kompany to the back where he'll be more effective and a massive step up from Richard Dunne. Man City do have a very good side now and I think Mark Hughes has been shrewd in signing so many players who've been a success in the Premiership and not entirely gambling on foreign success. Given that at the moment they can name a side of Given, Onouha, Richards, Kompany, Bridge, SWP, De Jong, Barry, Ireland, Bellamy, Robinho with a bench of Hart, Zabaleta, Dunne, Elano, Petrov, Caicedo, Sturridge (whatever happened to Michael Johnson, btw?!) that doesn't look bad. If Mark Hughes is given time and has a settled team, with no European distractions next season you have to fancy them to be the closest to the top 4.
June 2, 200916 yr Author Michael Johnson is injured. I really can't see him being at Man City though anymore (come to Liverpool plzzzzzzz). Before they can challange for the Top 4 they need to have a stable defence. It might look good but comparing their players to the likes of Evra, Agger, Terry, Carragher, Vidic, Ferdinand etc. - it really is quite a step away. I don't see them challenging for the Top 4 yet. They could possibly do a Villa and look to get 4th place but then hit a massive bad patch of form (as every team does throughout the season). There's still a long way to go yet though, and you can tell it's going to be a long, long summer...
June 2, 200916 yr Brazilian playmaker Kaka has signed for Real Madrid in a £56m deal, Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reports. (Agence France Presse 1956 BST) Kaka signs for Real Madrid - radio Eurosport.com Tue 02 Jun, 08:10 PM MADRID (AFP) - Brazilian playmaker Kaka has signed for Real Madrid from AC Milan in a 65-million-euro deal, Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reported Tuesday. Newly-installed Real president Florentino Perez sealed the deal with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and Bosco Leite, Kaka's father and agent, Cadena Ser said. Kaka, currently in Brazil with the national team ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, will sign up for five years and a salary worth nine million euros a year, it added. AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi had hinted at Kaka's departure moments before Cadena Ser had claimed he was indeed moving. "I do not know if we can keep Kaka at Milan because they (Real) have offered him so much money," Berlusconi was quoted as saying by Italian press agency Ansa.
June 2, 200916 yr Author Just proves the worlds gone mad. New Galacticos (sp?) here we come. I read earlier Perez is wanting to sign 5/6 new players, and is gonna get rid of 10 or so players. If Madrid are offering silly money like that in a time like this, then clubs are gonna be mad not to take them up on their offer. Looks like they're gonna be coming for Ribery, Alonso and Ronaldo them. I was hoping they wouldn't come for Alonso but shiiiit. Looks like they're gonna come in for him.
June 3, 200916 yr I think Kaka would struggle in the Premiership, it is much faster paced and much more physical than Serie A and he will be a sitting duck for any wanabee football hardman who wants to get a reputation
June 3, 200916 yr Author To be fair I think Kaka would do quite well in the Premier League... But how many players have actually made a successful transition from Serie A to the Premier League? Di Canio is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Zola too?
June 3, 200916 yr Personally, I think £73million is ridiculous for any player, and Kaka is one of the best in the world. And, I agree, I have a feeling that he'd disappoint in England, wouldn't be the first time a Serie A - Premiership move hasn't gone quite as well as expected.
