$h!t even i can't get the Never Leave You video due to copyright restrictions

Thats the first one of them i've come across since leaving the UK. :o

My song *link removed*

In case anybody wants it.

You can't post links on this forum!

You should know that Xylem!!!!

for anyone who doesn't: Download links are illegal and hamper music sales......etc, etc, etc. And it's against forum rules.

So D/Load links are a nono i'm afraid :nono:

Please keep it too PM!!

You can add YMYB to that list :(

It hasn't had any criticism, but i'm hoping BJSC does the right thing for once and boycotts it. I sure as hell will be. Epic track or not.

Not because i'm being petty about Amelle being or whatever, but mainly because one, it's about to be the hit of the summer. It would be like sending Umberella after it's first play. Two, if this wins it just proves TiP right. Mining the release schedule wins. It shouldn't and going for the most obvious and cheapest song on the list is not what this contest is about, and never has been.

This contest is primarily about discovering new music in quite a fun way. While success is nice, it should not be the sole aim. IMO it shouldn't be an aim. There would be no better way to kill off this release schedule mining bull$h!te than to kill Never Leave You at the semi stage. It would be the most undeserving BJSC winner imo and if it succeeds whats to stop people entering the cheapest thing they can find on the schedule for future contests? There will be the attitude of 'well Tinchy won.....'

Which would be just horrific for the contest.

Now that i've secured my DNQ i might start listening to the songs to avoid the deduction. 0 and a deduction would not look good -_-

Sour grapes? :P

If this song is so cheap, then how come when the Artist Reservation thread was opened on Sunday night, no one bothered reserving Tinchy Stryder or Amelle until I did some 18 hours later after well over 20 of you had already reserved acts. Ironically, I was torn between entering two songs that I could not decide between (one was on the release schedule and the other was not), but both artists had been selected by the time I came online on Monday so I had to think up an alternative fairly quickly.

Maybe that was because Tinchy Stryder and Amelle was not on the release schedule then, but as I have been monitoring a number of 25/30 artists (I call it my scouting system) I knew (on May 30th) that it was imminent.

Secondly, posters seem to forget that Tinchy Stryder's last single topped the Buzzjack hate chart. Which suggests I've actually been a bit adventurous instead of going for my usual female singer/songwriter types.

But quite frankly I was upset when my entry for the last competition Marina & The Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot was labelled cheap by a number of you. As Marina is obviously such a huge artist as proved by the singles success by failing to get playlisted by Radio 1, 2 or 6Music and it failed to trouble the iTunes Top 300. So as a result of being damned if you do damned if you don't I have had a change of attitude to the contest with my new Nonsuch head judge and I've abandoned my cheapness handicap scoring system for my votes for this contest onwards. So I will no longer be discriminating against cheaper selections because everyone else has not been doing that so why should I.

The fact that one or two of you are suggesting boycotting voting for the song despite you liking it, is going completely the wrong way about things IMHO. Let's be honest if the song was so so like for example Will I Am's ft Cheryl Cole's Heartbreaker we would not be having this debate. The only reason this is occurring is because I had the foresight to nominate those two artists first ahead of bigger fans of the Sugababes who should have had more faith in their favourite act, and the fact the song is a tune and a half.

As I've long advocated since entering the contest, a rule should be set up so that songs on the release schedule four weeks before and six week's after the date of the contest should not be allowed to be included, but some of you who make the rules up have not been happy to activate this rule that I think would vastly improve the contest.

So if any of you are series about boycotting voting for it despite liking it then if you never voted for any of the imminent releases in previous competitions by Katy Perry; P!nk; Lady GaGa; September; The Veronicas; Enrique + Ciara; Noisettes; Lady Sovereign; VV Brown; Kelly Clarkson; Taylor Swift & VV Brown then fair enough.

But otherwise you are hypocrites.

PS. According to Tinchy twittering this afternoon the promo video should be out by the weekend.

I don't know why you keep going on about this when it's been explained a number of times that cheapness doesn';t have to be defined by commercial success and airplay.

We've now had 3 voters from each semi :kink: Looking interesting already tbh

I have never and would never boycott a song if I liked it enough to vote for it...what I do do however is mark every song out of 10, if Tinchy was one of four 10/10 songs, and the other three were by new unknown acts, he would get 7 points, because I would reward the new discoveries first...there's no malicious intent here, it's just the way I decide who gets the higher points when my thoughts on songs are tied...hence why Jody slightly edged Royksopp for my 12 in XV, I liked both tracks an equal amount, but without BJSC I would have never heard of Jody, whereas I was never going to be able to avoid The Girl & The Robot

I have often given 7, 8 or 10 to 'cheap' songs if they are good enough, but often my 12's go to my favourite brand new discovery

:o Hadn't seen this thread until today!

Better get listening to the songs! Semi 1 looks the strongest though.

I sense another DNQ. :nocheer:

I insist I will be noticed in this contest for one thing or another :P

On what Planet would I Am Not A Robot be cheap?

It should be noted that Amelle is by far my favourite member of the babes and that pretty much everythin she touches turns to platinum for me. So it's no question of faith. One we all knew it'd be f***ing epic and two given it contains Amelle it's so far beyond bloody cheap nobody even considered it. You incorrectly pointed out Amelle being an unpopular replacement for Mutya in a failing girl band. You quite clearly have not been seeing the hype album #7 is getting in their forum and that Amelle is probably the most popular member on Buzzjack. Regardless of what the quite clearly delusional GA loons say, the babes are still the biggest selling girl band and that is a fact.

There is no damned if you do damned if you don't. Maria was not cheap in any meaning of the word. And as for the Hypocrite. Pot calling the kettle f***in black. You've thrown the C word about and slammed the release schedule mining before then you go and do it?!?!

I actually proposed a 3month ban on release schedule picks. It didn't go down very well, and was shot down rather instantly. We haven't brought it in because it is impossible to enforce properly. Some things have been on the schedule but are often unheard to the masses unlike Say It, Evacuate The Dancefloor and Never Leave You. And if your going to advocate it, why would you go and flaunt your shattering of it? There by killing any progress you may have already made.

As for your Cheryl Cole point, i wouldn't vote for that because it's a horrifically $h!te song, by two people who can't sing for $h!t.

As for topping the hate chart. Amelle. i need to say no more.

And the boycott didn't do so well for Taylor Swift did it?

And for the imminent releases:

Katy Perry - IKAG was about as imminent as my death when it was entered. Ben confirmed it with a video that had 700 views.

P!nk - I did vote So What, but i hadn't heard it until BJSC. I don't listen to the radio, i have an autochanger in my car for a reason

Lady GaGa - Didn't vote for GaGa. Just Dance didn't click until after TBO and i still think Paparazzi is vile

September - I don't recall voting for September, but iirc this didn't do so well, and was entered when i was in Aus. I haven't paid attention to the charts or much attention to the release schedule since February.

The Veronicas - Which one? i think i've voted for most of them. Where i am Untouched was released ages ago.

Enrique + Ciara - hated this.

Noisettes - voted for this, but falls under the in on the otherside of the world therefore couldn't give a f*** what is about to hit the charts column

Lady Sovereign - She needs to be shot. Utter trash

VV Brown - Nope.

Kelly Clarkson - 1 point i don't recall giving

Taylor Swift - I quite openly Boycotted this even tho i loved it.

VV Brown - i presume this one is Shark In The Water, which i did vote for but wouldn't have heard if it wasn't for BJSC.

I well like Frahliso's entry, surprise one i liked that i didnt already know, some of my votes were a bit obvious that i already liked for example Juranabaijan's entry and Cadbury's entry.

oh voted btw :kink:

Oh my Rich, there are so many things wrong with your post that this may take me a while to deal with them :(

XIV proves your point wrong - where it happens, uncheap (or less cheap if we want to bring up VIII :P) quality almost always wins through! Surely it's far better to go for an approach whereby you introduce others to music (given it's the point of this contest :P) than just mine the release schedule? And, as I've said before, only one person accused Marina of being cheap, and they have by their own admission the most stringent standards on the term out of anyone!

While we understand your concerns, it would be impossible to set this rule up without excluding some quality entries - being on the release schedule is not necessarily a sign of cheapness! La Roux - Quicksand would have remained unknown by the vast majority on BuzzJack had I not entered it into XII, despite the fact it had been on the release schedule for ages and was released the day after it won! Additionally, where do we mark it from? And how do we take care of changes to release dates etc.? While I sympathise with your intentions, it realistically isn't going to work particularly well...

You make the constant point that 'well, the rest of you can't be bothered, why should I?'. But the thing is, the rest of us ARE bothered by this! Just take one look at the ACM and the hardcore few (and the far larger group of sympathisers who didn't join because they disagreed with certain clauses, which IIRC includes you? :P) and you see that we think this is a fairly serious problem, one which is sucking away at the contest but overall only down to a few repeat offenders, who do get criticised each time for this kind of thing as well! It's not as if everyone's at it...

And, to be picky, a fair few of those you named in the last paragraph were nowhere NEAR approximating cheap when they were sent. Lady GaGa (with Just Dance and to an extent, Paparazzi), Katy Perry (with IKAG), The Veronicas (for 3 of their 4 entries) weren't at all cheap when they were sent as they weren't even on the release schedule at the time, and the Noisettes looked like they were going to flop big time when they were first confirmed (I didn't vote for them in the end anyway ;)). VV Brown and Lady Sovereign, likewise. As for the others, where I have thought their doing well would ruin the contest, I have boycotted them! (Which applies to P!nk, The Veronicas with Untouched, Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift)

Surely a far, far better approach is to take the action that RFC and I take and reserve these cheap entries where possible to prevent their entry and go for a level playing field! XVI was an anomaly in the top-heavy domination of the cheaper entries, but generally the cheaper entries don't tend to dominate the contest as such - just look at XV!

You're all very arguemental this evening.

for the record nonsuch's entry too is far from cheap - I've never heard it and, although some Sugafans may be quite familiar with it, I doubt the majority of people here had a clue it existed prior to the contest.

There's near on 150 replies to it's two threads. and no one has said a bad word about it.

It's more than Sugafans that have heard it. It's in the RnB forum too.

and it's morning :kink: it's 5am for me.

i do love insomnia :nocheer:

Exactly.

Because it was not added to the release schedule until after I nominated it as my selection. But posters seem to have already forgotten that now.

Indeed even now it does not yet have an official release date:

http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95232

Plus it on Radio 1's Playlist yet? Answer: No.

Has a video been released yet? Answer: No.

The bottom line is that one or two posters here are miffed that they have missed out on a song that will be a very large hit single because it is a f***ing brilliant tune that will debut at the top of my personal chart when I get round to posting it this week, because I think it is the best Urban pop tune I have heard since Rihanna's Umbrella.

And that is surely the whole f***ing point of the contest to enter something I really like.
