Now come on Tom...this one does depend entirely on the definition of 'cheap', and most people have some vague mention of it involving having heard/hearing it without the existence of the contest :P Tinchymelle distinctly violates the latter clause, and given that it's being raved about by the majority of the forum as 'track of the year', it would be foolish to deny it as being cheap...

...whether or not that matters however is another argument entirely! :P

Exactly.

Because it was not added to the release schedule until after I nominated it as my selection. But posters seem to have already forgotten that now.

Indeed even now it does not yet have an official release date:

Plus it on Radio 1's Playlist yet? Answer: No.

Has a video been released yet? Answer: No.

The bottom line is that one or two posters here are miffed that they have missed out on a song that will be a very large hit single because it is a f***ing brilliant tune that will debut at the top of my personal chart when I get round to posting it this week, because I think it is the best Urban pop tune I have heard since Rihanna's Umbrella.

And that is surely the whole f***ing point of the contest to enter something I really like.

Actually, the release date is August 3rd according to Tinchy's Twitter.

Video has just been filmed and is due out this weekend, also thanks to Tinchy's twitter.

I'll post it again, coz you seem to have missed it.

I was never going to enter this track. If i had managed to get my hands on the sugababes, it would have been my favourite track i'd have entered, then no doubt cast aside for Gabby C.

And that is surely the whole f***ing point of the contest to enter something I really like.

Wow, someone's REALLY changed their tune! :P

Umbrella is easily in my top five songs of all time. Does that mean it's an appropriate entry? Would that make for an interesting contest at all if I sent it? No! :P

And, for the record, the fact I'm not too keen on Tinchymelle being sent has NOTHING to do with any desire on my behalf to send it, given that my mission statement for this contest involves always intending to introduce others to music they would not likely have heard without the contest - something some of you should have cottoned on to when I deliberately set out to tar Little Boots' Remedy by 'planning to enter it' - in doing so subjecting it to all sorts of accusations of cheapness :P

I never realised mods could be so awkward

BJSC mod is an interesting job, probably one of the most interesting on the entire forum...

it's tough to decide whether to remain impartial or go in all guns blazing...I think I was somewhere in the middle of Tron/Phil and yourself so it's lucky there is at least one mod who doesn't get involved with conflicts, not that I'm suggesting that mods shouldn't be able to voice their opinion of course

What are you saying Rich?! Are you saying I don't care?! You think I don't argue enough so i can't be a very good mod - Is that it? :arrr:

I think I'm just too lazy to post my opinions most of the time :P

I have to say, it is possibly the most fun job of them all in that, at the end of the day, while we do try to preserve the contest's nature, it is just a game at the end of it all so even if we don't succeed it's never too bad as, regardless of all the nay-sayers, if someone doesn't get their own way realistically it never leads to the slippery slope that always gets espoused - just look at the NF debate! I do very much enjoy trying to keep it on the better side of things though.

And plus, how else would I use all of the useless knowledge and useless statistics I've accumulated over the past one and a half years? :kink:

Omg this thread is so stupid, its a bloody song contest why are you arguing over a song being entered, if he wants to enter it let him enter.

Also, I don't remember any points being made about the contest being about introuducing new music, thats utter balls.

If someone likes a song and wants to send it, fair enough leave it at that, sounds like some people have sour grapes.

Have you been paying any attention to this contest for the last year and a half, because that's ALWAYS been one of the key aims of it! It's even been mentioned in the rules which were put in place at the beginning of the contest!

It's nothing to do with sour grapes...what's the bloody point in sending a song that the majority of people have already heard? The major problem this contest has comes when people get lazy and decide to just go with lazy entries the majority of people have heard, because it just turns the contest into the Multichart Redux...

*cough* Anyway, is anyone having trouble with the Ashton video? I'm not on MySpace, maybe that's the problem... :(

No, not at all  I'm saying that you have to have people who can calm down situations and disperse arguments as well as those that are in the thick of the arguments :P both ingredients are vital to a good mod team

Nope, I only have problems with the Nonsuch video and I couldn't find an alternative version neither on youtube nor on dailymotion.
