We are just bringing back the week gap for the good of the contest. People can get sick of it, which is why we so nearly switched to a contest every two months format a year ago.

And for the record. I see the Mods as people who are trying to improve the contest, and keep it's membership high. As well as doing the other mod duties like closing and pinnin threads.

So i say, wait a week before Confirmation/Reservation threads please.

I reckon this should go up to a vote at least Phil :o other than the mods, there are a couple of people indifferent to the idea but everybody else seems to be very keen to get the artist reservation thread going...

I've said that I'll provisionally open the thread tonight at 9pm, but whenever it opens, it's still likely to close at the same time as I certainly won't be around 4 weeks on Sunday to host it, I'll have to look into the specifics...so if I open it now, it could be open a week and a half, if I open it at the weekend it will be open a week

Personally I'd rather open it tonight at 9pm and leave people to reserve as they wish, to avoid conflict and crossed wires in the green room for the next week...but I shall respect the wishes of the mods like I said before, if I have to move it back to Saturday night I'm not bothered personally as I haven't got any artists I'm dying to reserve :kink:

Copse Corner.

Worth it, just to see Hamilton out manoeuvre Alonso, even if it was just for racing honour.

Amen to this.

For the BJSC XVIII contest I'm torn between two very different records, one is a reggae track; the other is a very quirky indie pop track. Neither acts I can foresee as likely to be reserved if I don't.

But I've always believed the Artist Reserve Thread should be opened either immediately after the last contest has finished by the previous contest winner; or at a pre-determined time, so that everyone has an equal attempt to "push the button" and nominate their acts.

I reckon I'll have to open the artist reservation thread at 9pm tonight, apologies to the mods, or else I won't be able to host/manage it all in the time frame due to other commitments - more info in the Green Room thread

I do think a set time to open it is a good step to take though as everyone knows to be here for that time

Fair enough! :P Just to clarify, I did not suggest we take a week's break - a break until Wednesday would both fit in with the schedule we normally practice, give a brief break from the contest, and give everyone a chance to take a look for stuff for the next contest without putting themselves at a massive disadvantage given that artists go like hotcakes as soon as the thread's opened ;) Tonight though would be fairly reasonable given your time constraints however ^_^

I like when everyone knows when the reservation thread will be open...and from Monday to Sunday (confirmation thread) doesnt look that bad :)

9pm tonight is the time to reserve your artists people :w00t:

Actually we used to run this contest on a 3week pattern with a week break inbetween each contest. So this ain't new.

Well maybe we should have vote to see if people are getting sick of the contest and stop just assuming it? -_-

Remember that without participants this contest would be nothing, so we should have some say/vote in what happens, it's only fair.

Don't get me wrong, I do respect the mods trying to help the contest and improve it but not when they go changing things drastically like this. I don't feel the mods should have more power than us when it comes to making decisions for the contest. Running it, yes but not making big decisions like this because that's when arguements happen because a small group have said this is happening and others don't agree with it. We could avoid most arguements like this if there were more votes held. I think that's very reasonable.

I'd have no problem with a decision like this if it had been held up to a vote and won but not like this.

What do people think of this? I'm thinking of sending it to the next contest.

Not bad!

Oh please Sabrewulf, moving the beginning of reservations so we actually get a boundary between the contests is hardly a major change is it?! :P

Unfortunately 9 pm is the midnight here plus my sister is here at night so... :snif:

Don't steal The Sound Of Arrows please. ;o

Maybe not but I'm just uncomfortable with how sudden it was.........

I wish it had been in the schedule, like every 3-4 contests we took a weeks break or something, because I think maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about it if it become the norm and wasn't something that just happened on a whim.

I didn't have a single idea of what the next argue is going to be about after the spin-off-gate. It looks like we don't need to involve, argues just rise from nothing!

I haven't been to Copse yet, I was on the pit straight in 07, Club in 08 and now Luffield. Don't know where I'll watch the Moto Gp from next year though.

I think you had the better deal - Copse is great for the start of the race but imo can get a little dull as you literally only see the cars for turn 1 whereas Luffield and the rest of the stadium section allows you to see much more of the cars from a variety of angles. I also really like Stowe as you can see the cars being thrown into the corner then head down to Vale and round Club. The Maggots and Becketts complex is a must for qualifying just to see the cars being pushed to the limit and full throttle.

I'm a little annoyed with myself for overlooking Beautiful Small Machines. I found the song the day before Rich sent it, and I took a listen and thought it was good but not great and probably wouldn't stand a chance anyway, but as soon as Rich sent it, and I saw the comments coming through, I realised what I'd missed from the song. OH WELL, THINGS HAPPEN! Wouldn't be the first time I just missed out on a high finishing entry [september, La Roux], but Rich, another congratulation, can't wait for you to host, I can only imagine from the start of your hosting last time, that this will be a top notch contest!

Thanks to James as well :)

The same with me and Sound Of Arrows :kink:
