Kid British "It Was This Or Football (First Half)" is also about, and cheap at £5.99!

Last week we got 8 in the top 10, 17 in the 20, and 26 in the Combined top 30 in the Albums. Meanwhile on the Singles we did absolutely spiffing with 9 in the top 10, 18 in the 20, 26 in the 30, 38 in the 40, and 49 in the top 50...had the JLS cover of "Umbrella" been allowed in separately, we`d have had 50 in the 50! Amazingly, the chart that is always first...

The hottest Summer of the 20th Century pulled in those millions to the beaches of Britain. The lack of water brought the stand-pipes to every street going. Elton John And Kiki Dee had their 2nd week at the top of the chart, and the most played record in 1976. This kept Dr Hook at #2 for a few weeks. Dorothy Moore peaked at #3 on 208, but Radio One`s #5. We might not of thought that Demis Roussos would have gone all the way to the top, but he did. "Forever And Ever" was the biggest track on this E.P. That chiefly had songs on it, issued as individual singles around 1973. Queen tried to follow up "Bohemian Rhapsody", but "You`re My Best Friend" started well, and stalled. 100 Ton And A Feather was really Jonathon King...covering a 1975 Tavares UK flop, and future hit for none other than Take That. The Manhattens had a few flops, but "Kiss And Say Goodbye" put them in the top 10, as did follow up cover of Timi Yuro`s "Hurt"...also covered by one Elvis Presley in 1975. Liverpool Express won New Faces (ATV`s Talent Show) in 1975, and then had 2 top 20 hits. Mind you, so did the Real Thing, whom I couldn`t stand! Liverpool Express though, had a bit of class rather than over placed ego. Sheer Elegance appeared on Opportunity Knocks in 1975, and got 2 hits..."It`s Temptation" was championed to be a 3rd, but Luxembourg got it wrong! It was actually talent show galore, as Our Kid also appeared on New Faces, but had just dropped out of the top 30, from last week`s #13. Candi Staton got 3 UK hits, "Young Hearts" was the 1st. Hot Chocolate started to struggle, but recovered 4 years later. The late lamented Alex Harvey took off to see Alice In Wonderland, as "The Boston Tea Party" started...."Are You Going To The Party?" Both the Beatles, and Beach Boys achieved re-issued singles...The Beatles more, as it was the 6th Year since the official split. At one point in April 1976, they had 4 records in the top 30. Some actually tried to say (Scott Mills talking bollocks) that Elvis had 6 singles in the Official top 40 in 1977, but actually he didn`t he only had 2...the others were only in the top 50! Jimmy James had waited some time for a big hit...He finally got one, 8 years on! Billy Ocean got C.O.D. with L.O.D. That`s (Cash On Delivery, as opposed to Love)! Isley Brothers back after 3 years, later covered by the Christians. David Dundas is a Lord...Jeans On was an advert for Brutus Jeans. A modest follow up, proved to samey. Status Quo had a "Mystery Song"...probably a forgotten song all the way, and a complete mystery! Billy Connolly had a go at Tammy Wynette for a 2nd time...obviously not a fan. Although this one "No Charge" had been covered by J.J. Barrie in May 1976. 5000 Volts had a 2nd hit...the first featured Tina Charles, who didn`t appear doing the vocal on TOTP. "Dr Kiss Kiss" had another vocalist, then they disappeared. Don Williams gave Country another hit. Johnny Wakelin got a 2nd, and another salute to Muhammed Ali...even more ego for Muhammed! Walter Murphy took Beethoven to the Disco, and it featured in Saturday Night Fever. War followed up "Low Rider"..."Me And Baby Brother" was well played but didn`t match the former. Diana Ross had a flop on her hands, as did Trammps.

Just ahead of Tom`s Singles Preview...it`s "The Pops To Flop" feature. Now, I wrongly suggested that 3OH!3 would flop! Caught me by surprise, as they had practically no pre-orders, so a flop physical at any rate.

The Flops for coming weeks include:

Maximus - Beni....featuring the voice of Sam Sparro...dancey acid/funk released today. Looks like a nice guy!

The Lord Is Good - Kenneth Benson....from High Wycombe, Kenneth`s been about from 2001...Christian based music, released 30th Aug.

Lastly, Allein Allein - Polarkreis 18...German Pop from Dresden. The band formed at School in 1998, as the Jack Of All Trades. Das ist aus next week...

Go on Tom...How are the Singles in 2009 looking?

Thanks Dave! Here's how the charts are looking for next Sunday :)

First of all, some bubblers:

PINK - FUNHOUSE makes it's debut for Next Week's Chart at number 72. A funky jam that's my personal favourite from the album. Yes I said funky jam. Deal with it

FIGHTSTAR - NEVER CHANGE - some people don't, Charlie Simpson from Busted being one of them, still making passable indie-rock. These stars fight their way outside the top 75.

LILY ALLEN - 22 is new at number 77. The Fear is, she might say it's Not Fair, but it's a few weeks til release yet!

Also bubbling under...

75 NE BOX N`LOCKS - MPHO

02 NE SUPERNOVA - MR HUDSON

01 01 BEAT AGAIN - JLS

So let's check out some of this week's new entries:

CONFUSION GIRL (SHAME SHAME SHAME) - FRANKMUSIK There's no shame in entering at number 29! As previewed this week, an up-and-coming London popster who's debut album is due out soon.

DON'T TRUST ME ME - 3OH!3 Famously predicted to flop by Dave three weeks ago  It looks like these fratboys from the good ol U S of A have a hit on their hands with this one, at 26.

SUPERNOVA - MR HUDSON Featuring Kanye West, Mr Hudson has now left The Library, popped into HMV on the way home, and bought the shop! Looks like odds-on favourite to take the number 1 from JLS, but right now it`s number 2.

To finish off, here's some Picks To Click which should be huge in future weeks:

KASABIAN - WHERE DID ALL THE LOVE GO Out of 10th August, the follow up to the HUGE hit Fire, and the download only (so far) Underdog. No official video yet, but you can hear the track and watch a bit of Transpotting below

RAY GUN - JUST BECAUSE 3rd Aug New pop-rock hopefuls championed by The Sun and Popjustice. Hopes are high, but will they connect?

ALINA - WHEN YOU LEAVE 27th July Put Basshunter, Dragostea Din Tei, huge amounts of vocoder and a Romanian glamour model together and what do you get? This! One of those songs you're certain to hear all summer, whether you like it or not  Personally, I do :kink:

This will be my last week doing this thread for a little while, because of my hosting of the Buzzjack Song Contest XIX. Dave will still be here though, don't worry :)

Anything more you want to say Dave?

Over all then, it looks like re-climbers galore, due to Now 73...and Mr Hudson could well get stuck at 2! JLS should be at #31 on our chart with "Umbrella", for whatever reason we`ve left it out.

In Sunday`s Official Top 40 it should have been at #25.

Mr Hudson for #1 please? :(

I really hope he doesn't stall at 2

Yes please :teresa:

To Tom: When is this weeks Bullboard chart available, or aren't you doing it during BJSC?

To Tom: When is this weeks Bullboard chart available, or aren't you doing it during BJSC?

It will be out soon, I will still publish it during BJSC, but it will be on a Monday :)

I want Mr Hudson at number 1 too :(
