July 12, 200915 yr Author Just curious, bearing in mind where MJ's 'Off The Wall' was in the mids.. I guess no-one knows the answer, then...
July 12, 200915 yr Vidcapper, 'Off The Wall' is now - 'Officially' - the Album that took the longest to reach its Peak. It Peaked at No.5, in its 5th Chart Week:, 29/09/1979 - 25-26-11- 10-*5* Before MJ died, it had spent 189 Weeks on the Chart. It is now up to 192 Weeks, & in that 192nd Week, it has reached a New Peak - No.3. Until now, the Album that took longest to reach its Peak, was 'Bat Out Of Hell', by Meat Loaf. That Entered the Chart on W/E 11th March 1978, & it did not reach its Peak - No.9 - until W/E 23rd August 1981 - 176 Chart Weeks later. If we just go by time - rather than whether an Album was on the Chart - then, 'Off The Wall' has taken almost 30 Years to reach its Peak, & the Meat Loaf Album only took 3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Weeks, to reach its Peak..... July 13, 200915 yr The Stone Roses debut took a very long time to peak. Originally peaking at #19 in 1989, the album made #8 earlier this century after the Jive issue (original issue was on Silvertone) was being sold for a silly price nationwide.
