Emma Thompson could at least return for the film! She's hardly a major character. I'd just like to see her in the battle. The thing about the book that makes that battle so dramatic and amazing is that there's homeage to all the characters that had ever appeared in the books.

I love this book so can't wait for the film. HBC is always incredible and insane so hope she doesnt play it down.

Same!

Gutted she hasn't.

I remember really hoping that ET or Emma Chambers from the Vicar of Dibley would get the role

:heehee: She had the look, style & mystique about Trelawney spot on!

November '10 seems so far away! Shall have my books box set in the next few days  to help fill the time!

Didn't know there will be 2 movies of the same book. Interesting. :o

EDIT: Maybe I just overlooked this when I visit the Cinema forum. :heehee:

Yup there's so much happening in DH they eventually had the balls to do a split, which they first wanted to do back with Goblet.

Delighted though, I'm glad it's a one-off split for this book just

They could have at least dragged the footage out to let the song play in full :kink:

SPOILERS: SPLIT POINT AND DEATH CHANGE!

Several weeks ago, a not-for-profit Potter symposium (MuggleMayhem) was held in the UK, and MuggleNet's own Jamie Lawrence was present to participate in some of the events.

Actor Joshua Herdman, who plays Goyle in the Potter films, was one of several actors from the franchise who hosted a Q&A session at the event. He revealed some particularly interesting Deathly Hallows information with fans that is worth reporting.

First, Herdman said that the current plan was to split Deathly Hallows just after the trio are captured by the Snatchers and right before they are taken to Malfoy Manor. Many fans had speculated this is where the split would be, as it will provide quite a cliffhanger between films. Please note that - while this may be the current plan - the director and producers have made it clear that they could very well change where they had been thinking of splitting it if they thought a different point worked better after filming was complete.

Second, Herdman says that his character will be the one who dies instead of Jamie Waylett's character (Crabbe). This decision was made after Waylett was arrested and convicted of cannabis possession several months ago. Waylett is not expected to return for Deathly Hallows.

Oooh that's interesting! I imagined the split would occur just after the Malfoy Manor scene, i.e. when they get back to Shell Cottage. But I prefer this - it's what I call an Empire Strikes Back ending, where the bad guys are winning and you wonder how the good guys are gonna pull it back.

I aim to be at the premiere for this film. Considering I'm now reading the series for what I believe is the 7th time, I feel I owe it to myself to make my way up to Leicester Square for the final part of the franchise (until I go to Harry Potter world in Florida lol)

I'm doing the same Perry :D

I thought the split would occur at Shell Cottage with Dobby's death. I do think that would be much better. There's no need for a 'cliffhanger' when so many people know what happens anyway. Far better to end it at an extremely emotional moment...

I always thought a good time to split the film would be when Ron walked out..

Yeah thats what I thought too! I had an image of them all standing on a cliff with an air of the effort that's still to come to finish Voldemort off. But this should work too.

I look forward to seeing you in Leicester Square, Jarktacus :D

It would be so epic wouldn't it? I do hope that they play this well because the book is a masterpiece and I'd die if they didn't do it justice!

I think that in terms of the plot not enough would've happened if they were to split it there Josh. I'd group the major events of the book like so:

-Harry's escape / the multiple Harrys / death of Mad Eye

-Invasion of the wedding / death eaters at Tottenham Court Road

-Being caught in disguise at the ministry

-Ron walking out

-Being tricked into Bathilda's house / Voldemort glimpsing them

-Ron's return / destruction of the locket

-Being told the tale of the hallows by Xenophilius Lovegood

-Capture by Fenrir & co / Imprisonment at Malfoy Manor / Bellatrix killing Dobby

-Breaking into the Lestrange vault at Gringotts

-Meeting Aberforth / the return to Hogwarts

-The battle / finding the diadem

-Snape's death at the hands of Voldemort

-Harry discovering the truth about Snape

-Harry handing himself over to Voldemort and the dream with Dumbledore

-The final battle

So it just seems when you look at it in that way as if Ron walking out is a little early to split the films :heehee:

Ahh, I just never realised how quickly Ron returned. I guess JK just kinda dragged out that storyline a bit.

Put that way, I think they've decided to split at a good part. Hopefully do, as that way, we'll be getting really long scenes at Gringotts & the Battle of Hogwarts, which would be amazing!
