November 13, 200915 yr 'Doesn't Mean Anything'... hmm... this is actually much better than her previous lead single which is 'No One'. Pretty impressive. :o
November 14, 200915 yr I love the new cover just as much as the old one! I'm loving her dress on the new album cover though!
November 24, 200915 yr The song's alright, but her second single is definitely a smash! Edited November 24, 200915 yr by West
November 30, 200915 yr Author Great performance of ESoM/Doesn't Mean Anything/No One on X-Factor  Pre-Order the album now on iTunes: Standard: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...51&s=143444 Deluxe: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...12&s=143444 Not able to preview any of the tracks yet though :(
December 2, 200915 yr Amazing performance on X-Factor. Blew Rihanna completely out of the water! Alicia's one classy chick :D Doesn't Mean Anything should hopefully reach the top 15 come Sunday :D
December 2, 200915 yr I'm so impressed with the current chart performance of "Doesn't Mean Anything" on iTunes. It's doing better than I ever thought possible, and I'm so proud. "Empire State of Mind Part II" is just incredible. It's an Alicia classic, that's for sure. I'd be inclined to say I prefer it over the version w/ Jay-Z, and I love me some HOVA.

'Empire State of Mind Part II' is incredible. Love it. I've pre-ordered the deluxe version of the album on HMV today so looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. I really cannot wait for it to leak, and for some reason, I am having good feelings about the album doing well! AAAH! This could be Alicia's most successful era here in the UK yet!

This could be Alicia's most successful era here in the UK yet! No, I don't agree with that. Her first album was quite big here, this could still get lost in the Christmas rush, but it might go platinum? I'm surprised the single is doing as well as it is. I thought it'd only manage top 15, even with X Factor. She did a live concert on Youtube last night for World AIDS Day, I missed the first few bits but I saw a good chunk of it. Her voice sounded a bit strained, but it was great. She did "Wreckless Love", "Diary", "If I Ain't Got You", "Superwoman", "Like You'll Never See Me Again", "Fallin'", "No One" from her old albums and "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" and "Distance And Time" from the new one. Then at the end she started with a bit of "Empire State Of Mind Part 2" before Jay-Z came out and they did his version. Loved it. I think she did "Karma" and this single as well but I missed them. I'm really excited for this album, asked for it for Christmas, sounds like she's not going to let us down so far. Love the first two singles and her version of ESOM. "Distance And Time" is lovely, if a bit subtle, I think it was lyrically similar to something like Oleta Adams - Get Here. ("through distance and time I'll be waiting") You can probably catch a repeat somewhere if you didn't see it.
December 2, 200915 yr Author How much have her albums sold here in the UK? Do you know? EDIT: Found these on Wiki, dunno how true though... 'Songs In A Minor' : around 900,000 'The Diary of Alicia Keys' : around 300,000 'As I Am' : around 300,000 Not exact numbers but they'll do I suppose. I take back what I said :heehee: Maybe it'll become one of her most successful singles wise and the album should do reasonably well though.
December 2, 200915 yr How much have her albums sold here in the UK? Do you know? Just had a look in the sales section and as of late November 2007: Songs in A Minor 1,045,195 The Diary of... 524,601 Unplugged 28,142 Not sure how the last one did, I'd guess around 200k? I didn't realise she was quite that big with the first album, thought it might have been double platinum.

Well she seems to be getting worse sales wise LOL :( But I think the info I posted are just the certifications, and they've been certified platinum etc...
December 3, 200915 yr Well it's not like album sales are what they were at the turn of the decade, and besides proper R&B isn't as popular now as it was then. I seem to remember As I Am passed platinum in sales when it was on sale for £5 and re-entered the top 20/10 in 2008. I think DMA is looking at #4 on Sunday probably which I'm really happy with. :D
December 3, 200915 yr Author Flawless performance! Absoloutely amazing! Shivers down my spine and everything. So hope she's touring next year as I'm DEFINATELY going to go.
December 3, 200915 yr Author Jon, the tour went on sale on Monday...WHAT?! AARGH! There better be tickets left :(
December 3, 200915 yr I really wanted to see her on tour, but I couldn't justify paying £39.50/£45 for a ticket, especially so close after I got a Leona ticket for a similar price. But after catching most of her World AIDS Day concert I sort of regret it. She's really good, I just wish they were more in the £25-30 range, I didn't think she'd be an O2 arena kind of artist here. (even though she deserves venues of that size)
December 4, 200915 yr At MEN Arena last year she failed to sell out quite alot of it, seems silly shes now coming back there but charging 20 quid more than last time
