Posted July 17, 200916 yr The new Bananarama album is entitled VIVA and is planned to be released in September This fantastic new album is written by Sara and Keren and produced by Ian Masterson. The first single taken from VIVA is "Love Comes" and is planned to be released in September. rvS5wbShbM0 What do you think of it, it sounds alright to me might be a grower. Personally I think they should just re-release "Move In My Direction" as that was amazing
July 18, 200916 yr its better than their last comeback, i have a soft spot for bananarama but i cant see this been anything more than a very minor top 20 hit, its a weak song and doesnt go anywhere at all and it hasnt a strong chorus i would love them to release a good killer single and have a big hit they should work with the team behind Girls Aloud while they are on a break, that way they might come up with some decent relevant pop music and have some decent success, i sadly cant see their album doing much either.
July 18, 200916 yr ...but their albums always flop - even their (IMO) career-highpoint, the fabulous 'Pop Life'. This is just...hmmm... auto-tuned fluff. Britain's greatest ever girlband really do deserve far, far more. Weak as pish.... the interchanging solo pieces sound awful... and I agree... they need a KILLER comeback single that will get in everyone's heads and give them a massive hit. This isn't it, though... sounds too much like an extra track from the last (pretty dreadful) album. Even the remixes of this are shockingly bad. And I've got NINE of them! Majorly disappointing... perhaps they need someone like Cathy Dennis or, even better, Xenomania.
July 18, 200916 yr I thought it was pretty good until the chorus came in. :( I loved 'Lovebite' and 'Your Love Is Like A Drug' from the last album, as well as the two singles.
July 18, 200916 yr i didnt think the last materual they did, but i agree pop life was a brilliant album and that only made #44 i think,i reallt thought at the time the album would do ok but for me that was theur best album, bananarama funnily enough have never realkly had any huge album success in the UK even at their peak in the 80's and if this latest single is anything to go by the new album wont buck that trend but if anything will deppen it.
July 19, 200916 yr I hope their version of Voyage Voyage is on the new album... Hope so - wasn't this album initially meant to be made up entirely of old disco/Hi-NRG cover versions?
July 21, 200915 yr Bananarama have signed a new album deal with Fascination Records, home to Girls Aloud and The Saturdays...that's a good sign considering the success those two acts have had. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a166490/...on-records.html
July 21, 200915 yr this sounds like a cross between Lady GaGa and Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer). The chorus is dull as though.
July 26, 200915 yr Bought Pop Life on Saturday, classic album :) Anyway here's an interview with the girls about the new album: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a166816/bananarama.html
August 16, 200915 yr well, they've made up for releasing a lame comeback with a killer video at least.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOLwcHhy_Wk
August 16, 200915 yr Oh I had to laugh watching that. I knew as soon as I saw it that it would have been directed by Harvey B Brown, it's almost a carbon copy of the Sugababes' video for 'Denial' which he also directed (except it's not even half as great).
August 16, 200915 yr But Bananarama invented the pop Sugababes have made a living on... so it's only fair they pinch some stuff back. Plus, whereas Sugababes perform like their lives depend on it, po-faced, gammy dancing to their increasingly dire singles (especially the teeth-jarringly dreadful new one), it's nice to see the Nanans, the undisputed goddesses of this style doing what they do best - having a laugh and getting out the dressing-up box and not taking things too seriously. Bravo to them, I say. Even if the single's rubbish.
