Set in Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis.

Looks good yes? Yes.

Pulp Fiction and Grindhouse

It looks good. Did well at Cannes as well which is a good sign.

I hear on the grapevine they're doing re-shoots though. Initial audience feedback was the film included too much talking and not enough action. But we shall see.

^Cos god forbid this film is nothing like Terminator Salvation and has a little bit of class

GOD, do these drongoes not actually realise that a Tarantino film does tend to rely more on the "boring, talky" stuff (ie, the dialogue...) than on explosions occuring every 5 minutes.....?

TBH, this is one of these films which could either be great, or a total piece of cr@p..... It's going to be more or less purely down to how QT has directed this.... If there are re-shoots being done, then this is a very bad sign that it could be the latter.....

I did say 'apparently'. :P I'm not 100% whether they're happening. All i've heard is critics have really enjoyed the film, but their own problem is for long patches all it is is talking, and not enough action, especially considering the aim of the film is killing Nazis. But we shall see.

I'm not really a big fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, but this seems really good from the trailer I saw. Starring Brad Pitt.

At least its better than his previous movie.

This does look rather good. It's weird how the TV trailer just calls it Inglorious tho... I don't think this will be another Kill Bill somehow :(

Well, that might not be necessarily a bad thing to be honest... Kill Bill part two was complete cr@p as far as I'm concerned, coming as it did after a relatively good opening first part, the less said about the mind-numbingly boring an banal "Deathproof" the better tbh....

Just so you know, 'Inglourious Basterds' is actually a re-hash of an early 80s Italian war movie called "The Inglorious B/astards", aka, "Deadly Mission" (which was itself a knock off of the legendary "Dirty Dozen")...

So, I guess one could argue that Tarantino has actually done another version of "Dirty Dozen"....

Maaattte, I went to see this tonight and it was nothing short of amazing. I'm not amazing at playing the 'film critic' role, but, aw man, I'm going back on Wednesday or whenever I'm not actually working to see again. I think I'm a little bit in love with Christoph Waltz too.
Hope to see this on Wednesday myself at some point... I'm hearing very good things about Christopher Waltz, that he basically steals the entire film.....
Off to see this tonight. Can't wait, looks pretty epic. :D

HOW FUCKING EPIC?! <3

Absolutely amazing! I'm not good at this 'film critic' stuff either, but I loved it.

The climax was brilliant, as was the whole plot really - I agree Christopher Waltz basically stole the film, but all the other main characters were great too.

I was so close to tears when

Shosanna/Emmanuelle was shot.

And I NEVER cry in films. Such an emotional scene! :(

Plus, a lot of laughs along the way.

Definitely one of the films of the year for me.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to mention - AMAZING last line.

^ Int it though! That

German boy

is so rubbish for doing that ): I was hoping for a

"I forgive you for shooting me, but give us a smooch yah!?"

. Alas!

What was the last lineee? :o! I don't even remember, how attrocious.

The Italian scene is basically amazing to be honest ~swoon~.

I don't know why I felt to need to put that first one in spoilers, it's hardly a shocker ahah. Oh wellll.

And I suppose this double post can highlight my love for all the sexy boys in this film. I'd kill a Jew for a piece of Hans Landa, I'll be open about it.

I was hoping for that too. :(

The last line was something like

"You know what, I think that's my masterpiece", when Aldo's talking about the swastica he's just carved into Landa's forehead.

The Italian scene is simply hilarious!

The only thing I didn't really get was why Landa killed the German actress [i'm useless with names...] but then surrendered to the other two anyway...he obviously knew they were all in on it, so why kill her if not the other two as well?

Hmmm

I'm hearing good word-of-mouth for this movie and I really want to watch it now!!! even tho it's not "historically" accurate lol
I saw this today - totally superb! Classy well acted, tight plot, superb characters and neat dialouge. 5 stars!
