Back on the losing trail for Carlisle. :( Tough away trip next against Milton Keynes for us, then the Cup game against Norwich.

Arsenal beaten by Sunderland? :o What an upset.

Further down, Barnsley beating Cardiff is another upset from today's action.

Yep. Fully deserved win it was as well. We closed them down quickly, we stopped them playing their passing game, and for all their fancy football and domination in possession they did very little with it, and Fulop hardly had many saves to make.

They're hard to break down though, and for us it was one chance and one goal. Bent scoring again is always good, Mensah and Da Silva were class at the back and Cana showed just how much we missed him against Spurs. He has to be our signing of the season, and what an absolute bargain he was.

Hopefully we can now go to Wigan and get another 3 points, as there's been a few times this season where we've got a good result then followed it up with a non-performance away (Burnley, Birmingham and Spurs spring to mind).

This season Wigan are one of the most inconsistant teams I've ever known.

Beat Chelsea, lose to Hull, a good draw at Man City, beat Burnley away (who had a 100% home record), thrashed by Portsmouth, decent draw with Fulham, annihilated by Spurs.

Excellent, we play Wigan next week. They got destroyed by Spurs, we put in a very good performance and beat Arsenal, there can only be one winner.

Wigan, of course.

Probably  They'll be pretty fired up to make amends. Nice to see the players coughing up for the travelling Wigan fans after that horror show.

I can guarantee it. Examples:

Sunderland 2 - 1 Blackburn was followed by Stoke 1 - 0 Sunderland

Sunderland 4 - 1 Hull was followed by Burnley 3 - 1 Sunderland

Sunderland 1 - 0 Liverpool was followed by Birmingham 2 - 1 Sunderland

I'm going down to the Wigan game. If we lose i'm going to demand a refund.

Well Stoke away is very tough, much harder than Blackburn at home, so it is no surprise.

Same with Burnley away, compared to hull at home.

The Liverpool win, then Birmingham defeat is the only one that shows a real dip in my opinion.

We had the same problem at Stoke last season. They're very physical, there's a lot of height in the side and yet both times we went there we tried to play them at their own game and failed miserably.

At Burnley we were the better team for a good hour, then we allowed Nugent to score 2 goals by switching off defensively and it was effectively game over. The one thing I will complain about besides allowing David Nugent to score 2 goals past us is that our midfield weren't at the races and gave very little service to Bent/Jones.

Birmingham was just horrific, didn't show up until the final 10 minutes. Birmingham were poor but we were just awful.

It's one thing getting beaten by teams but there's really no excuse for battling away at Old Trafford, and at home against 2 of the league's top sides (And keeping clean sheets, I may add) then just failing to perform on the road. I think the thing most fans are disappointed with is the fact that against Stoke and Birmingham the team just didn't show up until the latter stages. Burnley was an even game, and fair play to them for sticking their chances away but it's not like we made it hard for them.

I would actually class Wigan as a harder away game than Burnley or Birmingham and what I want when I go there is the lads to at least try and get a result. The problem with Sunderland is we get results like v Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal and we go into games with Stoke, Burnley and Birmingham over-confident and we end up switching off and allowing them to score. If we go there, give it a go but Wigan show up and want it more and we're well beaten in the end then fair play but if we go there thinking it'll be a breeze and that it's a guaranteed 3 points then we're in trouble. We haven't got the best record at the JJB/DW/ABC/Whatever stadium anyway, so we need everybody to stand up and be counted for.

Oh, and the point I was trying to make for the Blackburn match was the fact we came from a goal down to win, despite playing poorly yet we seem unable to do that away from home. There's really no excuse for it.

Surprise victory for Carlisle on Tuesday, beating the MK Dons on their home ground. Two good results against quality sides recently, it builds up hopes for us beating Norwich tomorrow afternoon.

Pessimism was right then!

York through to the 3rd round of the FA Cup. :D Well hope we get a good draw. Any Premier League team in the North West away from home will do me fine!!!

Carlisle through 3-1 against Norwich.

Me excited? Of course not. :teresa:

Same old predictable shit. 2 players had ok games, i'll say no more.

Expecting a response against Fulham next week, when of course I won't be attending. I love being jobless and wasting money going to watch awful, heartless, lazy, disjointed displays like that.

 It's horrible when predictions that shouldn't happen do :(

EDIT: And Strachan is now making Southgate look like a genius :(

Stoke vs York!!!

Could have been better, but could have been worse. Weird thing is as well, I fancy us to get a result at Stoke...maybe!

Also FINALLY some luck for Liverpool. Pepe Reina - best keeper in the Premier League by a country mile.

Everton vs Carlisle. :cheer:

I was hoping for a big name, and this is what we get. *dreams about beating Everton*

Swindon Town away to the home of Al Fayed and the Allen's (Lily & Keith), could be worse I suppose.

Still agreed about Liverpool, they were comprehensively outplayed by the opposition but ended up gaining the win. Probably the first opportunity I have had to say that about Rafa's team this season.

United v Leeds! :D Well psyched for that. Annoyed Lincoln are going to Bolton, COULDA BEEN NORTHWICH :(

I just hope Kettering get beat by Leeds. Don't want them to play at Old Trafford, and I hate Leeds.

Liverpool were outplayed off the park for 60 minutes today, but that is such a big 3 points. We got a lot of luck which is what we needed. Can't wait till the likes of Benayoun, Riera, Aqualini and Gerrard are fully fit, and then hopefully Torres will be back for Blackburn next week. The table all of a sudden doesn't look so bad.
