Villa will finish 7th because Martin O'Neill has not learned from his mistakes last season. It's the same lineup every game possible. It's not 1978 any more, it won't work.

Agreed. I don't think they have the bottle to go the full way, same as Spurs. They bottled it last night completely, and Rafa beat Redknapp on every possible level tactically. Cannot believe some pundits were saying they missed Huddlestone and Lennon last night. :manson: They can never make their minds up! Not a word of a mention how Liverpool beat a good Spurs side without Gerrard or Torres though...

Stockport have strengthened their side and managed a 0-0 draw against us today. It finished 10 a side. Their 1st point in a while. I hope they stay up, I used to live near Stockport.

Two shock results today and a few replays which could produce shocks this round.

A brilliant 2nd half in the Carling Cup tie tonight.

Manchester United deserved their win; if there is a better player on the planet at the moment than Wayne Rooney then I'd like to see it. Giggs & Scholes continued to show they have the same longevity that a former Fergie fledgling still has at AC Milan. They fully deserved to go through on the night, although yet again Carlos Tevez proved that SAF getting rid of him and keeping that waste of space Berbatov was a very bad decision that could easily cost him the PL title he ultimately craves.

Yet again Micah Richards showed he is the best English Right Back in the country (certainly better than Liverpool's Glen Johnson who can't defend!) at the moment.

However, I will be interested to see if the FA take any action against Manchester United fans for throwing and hitting Craig Bellamy with missiles (just as well it was not a golf club ) ..... but as it is Manchester United I expect it will be glossed over by the Murdoch Inc media.

James I hope you enjoyed the match, and well done to the TRUE Manchester United fans who showed their true feelings with the Newton Heath FC scarves.

Not even Craig Bellamy deserves a coin thrown at him, we'll get in trouble for that but it'll just be a fine like everyone else gets for that.

Anyway tbh I thought we gonna thrash them tonight but we won which was what we wanted. What I'm particularly pleased with is the fact that Nani again played quite well :o

There is one thing I really want to know.. Why did City leave Wayne Rooney of all people unmarked in the box? Him and Fletch were the main men for us once again.

Brilliant night at OT, the atmosphere was so intense and I agree with TIP about the Newton scarfs too. So good.

As for the match, started slowly but the second half was on fire. Some of City's marking was awful and I dont think any of our players other than perhaps Rafael, had that bad a game. Even Nani was on top form! Great result, right team won etc etc.

Micah Richards best right back in the country?! I think he's good, but highly overrated still. He can become a very good player but he's still a huge liability at times imo.

Man Utd deserved their win. I wanted City to win, but that's just because i'm bitter! But Man Utd were the better side. Man Utd best get into trouble for throwing coin and a bottle at Bellamy. It's only one bad apple, but it's not acceptable. Tevez... what a player. That goal he scored was top draw.

Carlisle won 3-2 away at Exeter on Tuesday. Next opponents are Leyton Orient who ended Charlton's unbeaten home record in the league. Going to be a tough fixture this weekend then.

Newcastle won last night, sets them up nicely for a tough away fixture at Leicester.

It just had to happen ...............

Not for the first time this season John Terry plays away ..... and scores ...... :kink:

PS. Do you think he should be stripped of the England captaincy or not for his off the field infidelity with a team mates wife?

No.

Ideally I'd say yes, but if were to strip of the captaincy for being stupid and not being a role model then we have to give it to someone else. Who are the other contenders? Gerrard? Rooney? Rio? They're no better with the stuff they've been in the papers for.

I don't know why Bridge is his team mate any more anyway. He's been abysmal for years, anyone who picks him ahead of Baines and Warnock is daft.

To be honest I think it's just a great big kafuffel over nothing. Obviously he's been scoring a few own goals, and dicking about with his pen but if he was stripped of the captinacy, it would obviously go to Rooney. Now if England want to win the World Cup then Rooney cannot be captain.

Carlisle managed a draw at home to Leyton Orient, I thought it would be a difficult game to get anything from after their stunning away win at Charlton Athletic. According to the reports, we were beating them in the first half and we managed to go to sleep in the second half.

Next match is a tough one away at Colchester who will be hoping to bounce back from a bad away day at Leeds.

Well, Carlisle suffered their first Tuesday night defeat in quite some time. Next up today is an away fixture at Huddersfield. I am hoping for a score draw there as it is a tough place to go to.

Week ahead sees the second leg of Johnstone's Paint trophy. Up against Leeds again. I hope the last result doesn't jar their confidence. :)

I can't see Celtic B(oro) beating Ipswich today :( A draw at most again! Without Johnson Strachan has consigned us to the league for another year AT least.

Think we have crystal balls? Carlisle held Huddersfield to a 1-1 draw and that was also the result from Portman Road for Middlesbrough.

Hull and Burnley woke up a few teams above them by both winning. The Hull victory against Manchester City was the unexpected one for me. Thought that a draw was what Hull would most likely achieve if anything out of this game based on their draw against Chelsea.

Is definitely between Chelsea and Man Utd for the title. I'm pretty sure it will go right down to the wire, I fancy Chelsea to sneak it. Just depends how much this John Terry thing will effect everyone though.

Arsenal imo are in danger of being dragged into the race for 4th place. They're not playing badly, but Chelsea and Man Utd have shown how to beat Arsenal - counter football. Massive game on Wednesday - Liverpool win then the race for 4th could become the race for 3rd and 4th, but lose and we're dragged right back into the thick of everything and Arsenal catch ground on the leaders again.

I may be going to Rushden & Diamonds v Eastbourne tomorrow with a mate from college, should be an interesting experience. Might just spend the whole time singing songs about John Terry to his brother

Ha I bet he gets some abuse at the moment. Can't wait till York play Rushden again as the York fans can come up with some quite witty chants.... I hope Eastbourne win though.

Suppose i'll be supporting Rushden for the evening, the lad at college supports them. Might not be a good idea to say anything to Paul Terry after all then
