March 4, 201015 yr Author It's such a sad loss. Such a shame, and especially as he was still in a job when he died. I remember him when he was at Lincon City and York were still in the football league. He always had his ups and downs in football, but it's such a sad loss for football in the lower realms of the game.
March 5, 201015 yr Going back to the Ramsey / Shawcross incident, apparently Shawcross has received around 300 sympathetic messages from Arsenal fans expressing their respect for his reaction when leaving the pitch. I don't like Arsenal but those supporters are a credit to their club.
March 6, 201015 yr 0-0 draw for Carlisle against Wycombe, was hoping for a win here. R.I.P. Keith Alexander, your team did you proud today by winning 2-0 away at Hereford.
March 7, 201015 yr Going back to the Ramsey / Shawcross incident, apparently Shawcross has received around 300 sympathetic messages from Arsenal fans expressing their respect for his reaction when leaving the pitch. I don't like Arsenal but those supporters are a credit to their club. I think every single club has it's fans who are brilliant and always come across in a good light, and all also have their idiots. The few Stoke fans who chanted "You've only got one leg" as he was stretched off being a case in point.
March 9, 201015 yr Wigan won!!!! :o Norma And so did we. At long last. Sky & co will be gutted, they'll have nothing about us to rip to pieces this week because we played well and deserved the win. Shame. Edited March 9, 201015 yr by Mykul
March 12, 201015 yr ^ Unlike Carlisle on Tuesday. We lost 3-1 at home to Millwall. Another tough fixture at home this weekend, this time to Colchester. Congratulations on the Sunderland win. :cheer:

March 13, 201015 yr Goodness, a home win and we were down to 10 men. Think I need a long lie down.
March 28, 201015 yr Author Convinced Liverpool would not be in the position they are now had Torres been fit for the majority of the season...
March 28, 201015 yr Celtic Boro better prepare for a relegation scrap next season. Absolutely pathetic!
March 28, 201015 yr Carlisle lost which is fair enough, though I felt the score line was a bit harsh on them. It wasn't as one sided as that. If we had got a second, I think that would have been a fairer reflection on the actual game that I watched. Yes, I was at Wembley. :cheer: Our defending really surprised me. They were a bit indecisive, and hesitated (at least once) over clearing the ball to control it.
March 29, 201015 yr Convinced Liverpool would not be in the position they are now had Torres been fit for the majority of the season... Does the lack of any quality in depth not frighten you? And i'm also quite surprised at you saying that, considering you've spent the best part of the season trying to convince everyone that Liverpool aren't a two-man team. We were shocking today. Liverpool played well, but we made it so very, very easy for them. Tough home fixture next against Spurs and then we've got 3 games against West Ham, Burnley and Hull before Man U visit the SoL. We're all but safe so it's now about picking up as many points as possible and finishing as high up the table as possible.
March 29, 201015 yr Author The lack of real depth is not good, but take away any teams best player and they're not the same. Man Utd without Rooney can be significantly weaker. Torres is just special, there is no other player in the world like him. 20 goals this season and he's barely played in half of Liverpool's games this year. Magical. Gerrard's been p*** poor all season, he looked better today, but I think that's because he was dropped back into a deeper role. Johnson also, he was brilliant today. Liverpool have really missed him since January and it's only now he's beginning to get to full fitness again. 4th spot it going to be a bit of challange, but all Liverpool can do is win their remaining 6 games. Spurs have still got Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea to play, it's only really Man City that could get it imo. Sunderland did make it very easy, but I think that's because they didn't expect Liverpool to come out of the blocks as quick as they did. Right from kick-off Liverpool attacked constantly until they got the 3rd goal and sat back a little. I don't think Steve Bruce was expecting that (neither was I) and Torres' goal was a bit special, and I think that knocked Sunderland a little. That was the best Liverpool have played all season. Everyone just looked full of confidence, some nice touches and link-up by the midfield and full backs. Very promising. I did think before Liverpool got the 2nd goal that if it stayed 1-0 it would be sod's law Sunderland would get an equaliser though.

I think the question that Liverpool fans have to ask is would Man United have dropped as many points as Liverpool without Rooney, would Chelsea have dropped as many points as Liverpool without Drogba (Bearing in mind they knocked 7 past a very good Aston Villa team this weekend without Drogba on the pitch). The answer for me is no because they have quality players who they can call upon to grab them a vital equaliser or winner, whereas Liverpool don't really have that. You look at players the likes of Kuyt, Babel, N'gog. Decent enough players, and I dare say they'd be star men in a team like us who aren't really aiming for anything more than mid-table consolidation. But for a Liverpool team who are serious about challenging for major honours they're not enough, and that's what would concern me if I was a Liverpool fan. Sunderland did make it very easy, but I think that's because they didn't expect Liverpool to come out of the blocks as quick as they did. Right from kick-off Liverpool attacked constantly until they got the 3rd goal and sat back a little. I did think before Liverpool got the 2nd goal that if it stayed 1-0 it would be sod's law Sunderland would get an equaliser though. First goal, cracking finish but should never have been allowed the time and space to pick his spot and score. Should have been closed down, blocked, f***ing anything but allowed to walk into the area and score like that. Second goal was no different. Steed, Turner, Cana, all standing watching Johnson walk into the area and shoot - why? Element of fortune about the deflection but I dare say it would have been going in anyway. Third goal was just painful to watch, and again it's a lack of urgency in our defence. If someone like Gerrard or Torres or even Daniel f***ing Agger starts coming towards you, get to him, don't just back off and back off and give them the time and space to shoot ffs. Poor defending for an Under 7s Sunday League player, unacceptable for a Premier League player. As for Bruce, he has to take a major part of the blame for today's defeat. He didn't see Liverpool coming out and attacking us at Anfield? He wasn't prepared for it, knowing fine well how desperately Liverpool need the points? Why did he switch Ferdinand back to centre back when he's been playing fine at left back? Why was Richardson of all people playing at LB? Why did Cattermole even play when he's been woeful recently? Why didn't he start Jones despite the fact he's fit? People can turn round and say "It's Liverpool at Anfield, they played well" but I don't buy it. I couldn't give a monkeys who we're playing and where we're playing them, performances like the one today are unacceptable. If we'd gone there, given it a real go and at least performed half-decently and looked like we gave a $h!t but lost 3-0 then I can't fault that. But to roll over and die from the first whistle like we did is absolutely disgusting.
March 29, 201015 yr Author I see you're point about Liverpool and the lack of quality in all departments is definitely there, but we've been knocked badly by injuries. It's similar to Arsenal last year. In January 2009 they were given the money to buy Arshavin = 4th place. We were given 1.5m to buy Maxi. Some Liverpool players imo get unfairly criticised. N'Gog is one of them, I think people forget he's only 20/21. He's still 3/4 years away from his peak. This season the players who've let Liverpool down have been the likes of Carragher and Gerrard. Last season we did well without Gerrard and Torres, but this year it's been a bit more telling unfortunately. I just honestly don't believe for one second we'd be struggling for 4th place had Torres been fit all season. But even against Man Utd last week we weren't bad. For all the posession Man Utd had, they didn't look dangerous. Liverpool weren't great, but not once in the game did I think Man Utd were going to go on and dominate the game and make it unwinnable. That was a telling sign for me today from Sunderland, was how they let Agger come forward. When he plays he's got to be stopped from making forward runs, and a lot of the time he is stopped, but he's f***ing lethal when he's allowed to roam forward with the ball from defence. Normally at Anfield Liverpool come out attacking, but i've not seen Liverpool come out THAT attacking from the off go in a long time. I think it entirely knocked the whole confidence of the team. And going behind that early is never a good thing, and the onslaught that followed can't have been good. I think in the first half, Sunderland only really had one break with Campbell, the rest of the time they were pegged back in their own half and the likes of Malbranque and Bent were carrying out extra defensive duty. I'm not sure. But I think that Torres goal did completely kill off Sunderland. I was gobsmacked it went in, as i'm sure everyone else was.
April 2, 201015 yr I want Tottenham to get that 4th elusive champo league spot :kink: just to give Liverpool grief  i want Arsenal to win the prem league (coz am a supporter :P) but i highly doubt it  oh well i also support Glasgow Rangers :D (since am scottish) and am pretty sure they've sealed the league already even tho we got thumped 4-1 by a $hiT3 team
April 2, 201015 yr Author Well Spurs are favs to get 4th spot at the moment. But they've got the toughest run-in on paper, and Liverpool have the easiest on paper. Will be close.
April 3, 201015 yr After the loss at Wembley, Carlisle bounced back with a 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers. I am a tad surprised at beating a team which has play off aspirations. We seem to be making Brunton Park a fortress these days. 3 home league games unbeaten with a draw at Southend as well. Tough away fixture at Charlton coming up next. In other League one news, Norwich were beaten by a team fighting for League One survival. Tranmere Rovers will be full of confidence that they can beat Swindon Town based on this result. Millwall were slowed down by a draw against Brentford. Exeter (another team fighting for survival at the foot of League One) beat play off contenders Colchester United. Best of luck to all who have teams playing this weekend. I have a few teams I watch out for, mainly sentimental reasons though.

I did the old work out the predictions / points for a Final table ... and I still get Man City finishing 4th; Liverpool 5th & Spurs 6th. If Spurs take 5 or more points out of the Top 3 + Man City then they deserve 4th place.
