October 19, 200915 yr Author Well, best of luck next weekend anyway. You're going to have to pray at least one of Gerrard or Torres is fit and available for the game because I really can't see you winning it without them. Man United haven't exactly been performing like champions themselves but they're picking up the points and that's what makes the difference. It's set up to be a cracking game anyway. Gerrard is fit for Lyon, so he should be OK for Man Utd. Hope Torres is fit though. Just so long as we've our first choice XI avaliable I reckon we should be able to grind out a victory. But saying that I can see Michael twatboy Owen scoring the winner. Now that would make me mad.

That would be more unfortunate than the beach ball goal tbh
October 19, 200915 yr I certainly don't think you can rule anyone out yet, afterall Hull were 3rd this time last year behind Chelsea and Liverpool. But I said enough times at the start of the season that if any team were to fall out of the top four it would be Liverpool, and not Arsenal. So far I can't say I'm being proved wrong... After eight games Arsenal have had 15 different Premier League scorers, that's strength in depth that Liverpool just do not possess. I know many fans now hate Michael Owen, but it must be depressing knowing he was available on a free and then seeing Andriy Voronin come on as the striker to try and change them game.
October 19, 200915 yr Author I'd rather Voronin than Owen. Purely for the fact Owen's a c**t, at least Voronin has some sense of loyalty. Will be a massive shock to Owen come the weekend... I don't think he realises how much Liverpool supporters hate him.

Liverpool beach balls have sold out on the club's official website with United fans thought to be snapping up copies of the now infamous red ball. Balls to everything
October 21, 200915 yr Fuck Indeed. + Gerrard & Riera out, Torres, Johnson & Martin Kelly (the one Liverpool youngster who is not useless (coughs Lucas + Spearing)) doubtful for the visit of Manchester United. Well I did say before the start of the season (at least in my local to fellow Liverpool supporters as well as other football friends) that losing Alonso and not signing that mercenary Barry is a mortal blow to our title hopes. Thank goodness I won a competition to watch some fat dancer at London's Roundhouse..... and missed the match on TV.
October 21, 200915 yr Author Yeah I missed the match (well glad). We're definitely getting f***ed over by injuries, but its no excuse really. But saying that, even though Lyon are nowhere the team they were a couple of seasons ago, they're still a very decent side... definitely think we need Skrtel and Agger for the weekend, but if Gerrard's not fit there's not a chance Carra will be dropped!
October 24, 200915 yr We are finally back to winning ways. :funky: 2-1 at home to Southend. Surprised that we got a result here as our home form has been worse than the away form. Next Saturday, is a tough game. Charlton.
October 25, 200915 yr Author Phenomenal performance considering the circumstances. Hopefully the season starts here now.
October 25, 200915 yr I think my windows nearly shattered from my shout after that 2nd goal...that's the best I've seen Liverpool this season, and I'm really happy we did it because it proved we CAN win without Gerrard.
October 25, 200915 yr Author I think my windows nearly shattered from my shout after that 2nd goal...that's the best I've seen Liverpool this season, and I'm really happy we did it because it proved we CAN win without Gerrard. We proved that last season, it's just the media (and Fergie..) likes to think we can't. We're not as strong without Gerrard in our team but we're still a good team. The thing was today every single player on the pitch looked arsed, and gave a top performance. Mascherano was a bit silly at the end, but that was pure passion for LFC. For a club that has so many 'average' players, we played really well today. I won't lie our bench looked weak as anything (especially compared to Man Utd's) but we've a good 4/5 players to come back from injury so it's all good.
October 25, 200915 yr Author Oh yeah, I just hope as well people start giving this guy some credit for his game instead of picking out all of his faults... http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45798000/jpg/_45798079_lucas_leiva_getty.jpg He was immense today. Him and Mascherano shat all over Scholes and Carrick.

For me that was his best performance in a Liverpool shirt (by some distance) and I personally think today he was the best player on the pitch.
October 25, 200915 yr Another fucking pathetic away performance against a team who we should be beating. We're really showing mid-table form, absolutely no consistency whatsoever. I don't mind us being inconsistent, but it's the manner in which we're losing and the teams we're losing to. Why are we performing against the big teams and then not showing up against the Burnleys and the Birminghams? Don't know if I can be bothered to go to any more aways this season because quite clearly we can only be arsed to perform at the SoL. The goals we conceded yesterday were disgusting. The lads should be thoroughly embarassed, those sorts of goals wouldn't be acceptable at Primary School level. Not good enough. We showed yesterday why we need full backs and how much we're going to miss Cattermole in midfield. Henderson and Zenden are not defensive mids, but unfortunately they're all we have. The decision to let Tainio go out on loan looks like it's going to bite us on the arse, was it not obvious to Bruce that Cana/Cattermole would eventually get suspensions and injuries? There'd better be a response against West Ham next weekend, and a performance against Villa in the cup on Tuesday night wouldn't go amiss either.
October 25, 200915 yr I think Lucas always gets a lot of unncessary stick, he's not a great player, not. But you'd think he was the only person that ever plays bad in each game that Liverpool don't win. But on the three times I've watched Liverpool not win this season it's because at least half of the team have played poorly, Lucas being one of those. This win hasn't really changed my opinion of them, I still think that if any of the top four drops out it will be Liverpool because they play poorly too often and they do have too many players that reach their 18 that wouldn't anywhere near as much for Arsenal, Man Utd or Chelsea. You're probably right with the media exaggerating things to a greater extent than they are. If Liverpool do finish outside the top 4 I can't see it being lower than 5th. The media is just full of morons though. I've seen at least five different collumnists / 'journalists' say that Arsenal aren't strong enough to win the league because they won't like going oop north in Winter and will lose too many games between now and March, "like always". This of course being the same Arsenal that went 21 league games unbeaten last season, not losing a game from mid-November to May. Pillocks.

This of course being the same Arsenal that went 21 league games unbeaten last season, not losing a game from mid-November to May. Pillocks. Lucas has been doing this all season, but it's only really showed today as there's not been another player to steal the show really. He's a fantastic talent and is becoming a very good player who will surely mature into a very decent player. The partnership between him and Mascherano looked stella today. Really looking forward to Gerrard coming back into the side, and Aquliani coming into the side now. Can't fault any of the players, although I think Agger coming back into the side has made a huge difference to the stability of the defence. While I still don't think Liverpool miss Alonso, I shall admit that Liverpool miss his calmness that he presented on the ball. But Agger definitely posesses that calmness as well, so here's hoping this will lead us into a better run of form now. As last season we'd have a brilliant result like this and go and f*** it up in the next game. The title race is going to be very long this year. All the top teams can beat each other, and some of the 'litteler' teams can all take points off each the top teams as well, so it's going to be a long long title race. I doubt they'll be any of this in the media tomorrow, but Carrick's been below par all season, and he was definitely shown up against Mascherano and Lucas today, and Berbatov... oh my.
