When is Rihanna even releasing new material?

31st Aug

Technically speaking Umbrella was Jay-Z featuring Rihanna, but who now referred to Umbrella by Jay-Z??? Answer: Almost no one.

Rihanna - Run This Town, is gonna be pretty much the same imo with similiar success.

'Umbrella' was Rihanna Feat. Jay-Z, he only added a rap in the intro section of the song, and 'Umbrella' was her single. This is no more a Rihanna comeback than 'Live Your Life' was.

I think it's a fairly strong contender though either way.

Run this town.

Listen and see which artists you think has the bigger part on the single.

Me thinks

1) Rihanna

2) Kayne West

3) Jay Z

Yeah, my mistake. You are correct, I stand corrected.

  • 2 weeks later...
Well this week is going to be David Guetta.

Next Week It'll be Dizzee Rascal

Then Rihanna

I'n amazed how underrated the Rihanna return is here. You really think Sugababes will hold off Rihanna? Um, we will see.

;)

Just want to add, JayZ/Rihanna haven't got it in the bag yet. It's could be close, very close and Sugababes may well be doing enough to hold on.

Run This Town is total $h!t, and JayZ especially sounds vile....but it is undoubtedly heading for number 1 for at least this week.

It should hold at #1 for 2 weeks, get knocked off by Madonna. Who may then be knocked off by Shakira, depending on the hype.

Robbie should then make #1, then the rest is too far ahead.

People are seriously underjudging LaRoux's I'm Not Your Toy. I've heard a lot of people going on about it and I think its good enough to scrape Top5.

Mika wont go #1 and Whitney will flop.

I think Jay-Z vs. Sugababes this week will be very close. The week after they'll be a few new entries in the top 10 : Muse, Mini Viva, Mika & Pixie Lott (most likely to go number one!). Then Madonna the week after and Shakira on the 21st. Then the next serious contenders are in October with The Saturdays, Whitney Houston, Alexandra Burke, Robbie Williams, Miley Cyrus, JLS & Tinchy Stryder.
Having just heard Robbies new song i think he should change his release date to a week earlier. I dont think he has a chance against Alexandra but could easily beat The Saturdays (who certainly dont deserve number one with their weakest single to date!).

Run this town is $h!t! totally not deserve to be #1. Of course it's Jay-Z record... not Rihanna's!

No Way The Sats will get to #1 with this song.

I think Robbie's comeback will be big. So I guess #1 for at least 1 week. I also hope Mika will get to #1, WAG is not his best single but he deserves a glorious comeback!

I am very divided by the new Robbie song. It is certain not a instant liking for me (but i can count on my fingers those Robbie songs I like instantly). It is very powerful and I like the gregorian chant, but from the middle on i don't care anymore and it is just boring - to repetitive. Now, with all the hype it will go very very sure to no. 1, i don't know for how many weeks, as it can gets on the nerves with too much radio-play. But on MY nerves, the other might love it, as they love Poker face, which i can also not hear to many times.

I didn't heard Leona song till now and Alexandra's is not my cup of tea, so it will be very hard now to predict it. I still think Robbie will got the no1 but only for the whole media supporting him inclusiv the big BBC. Robbie will get at least no 1 in Germany and half Europe

He woud dereve with a good song, which We are golden is not! (can he rerelease Grace Kelly please?)

Where can i hear the new robbie song, I havn't seen anything about it other than on here

Radio 1 were playing it a while ago. You can hear it on the Chris Moyles show (or Jo Whiley, she played it as well) on BBC iPlayer. ^_^

You have 7 days for this:

I'm sorry, but I think it's pretty deluded to think Eva has a chance any more.

Even though promo hasn't even STARTED on it? You'd be insane to think the big labels wouldn't pour money into something with so much hype - in much the same way as it would be odd to be surprised that Lady GaGa hadn't done a thing in June last year.

What other big comebacks are due in Autumn?

Other than the obvious Robbie/Leona/Dozens of X Factor related acts or such releasing to capitalise on Christmas ones of course?

Cheryl Cole could be a possibility if she performs on X Factor and the song is decent enough.

I actually didn't hear the first play on Chris Moyles but heard it later in the day. I have to say ... for the first 30 seconds or so I was worried because ... I actually liked it. Then ... it went absolutely nowhere. I know Rob is renowned for his lyrics but I think the lyrics to Bodies are infantile. Given Trevor Horn's input and Robbie's (fairly long absence - but I won't call it a comeback) I thought it would be absolutely terrific - especially given that the man himself had bigged it up so much. So Robbie's single ... in comparison with Patience - a very, very, very poor relation. In comparison to Greatest Day ... probably on a par ... both songs equally .... average!

Alexandra's song - I still don't really like that either but one of them will be number 1 .... and both for the same reason ... hype and overplay. I don't begrudge Robbie the hype actually (well I can't when the media were all over Take That when they came back ... having said that ... that was a proper comeback). I hope a third party wipes the floor with both of them (as long as it is with a decent song).

An afterthought ... I'm really rather relieved that Rob's song is as ordinary as it is! Even though I'm reluctant to say it ... I was expecting brilliant things from him. This song proves that perhaps he was just smoke and mirrors all along!
