And definatly not suprised at the lack of Beverley Knight. We've been wondering in the Bev forum, but have Radio 1 ever playlisted her? They've playlisted Beverley several times before. Unfortunately it seems that radio 1 avoid R&B like the plague these days.

August 19, 200917 yr Other than Esmee what a boring week :( Erik Hassle still on the Upfront list! They should've gone with a better first single 'Hurtful' or 'Isn't It Obvious?' for instance. I thought he'd already released Hurtful? Or maybe it was just a promo thing.
August 19, 200917 yr Jake's right. It's too hard to distinguish R&B music nowadays. Most of it's at least partially pop so it's best just to tag it as urban. Any perceived lack of R&B music on the playlist doesn't mean jack in relation to Beautiful Night anyway, which is about as pop as R&B gets!

August 20, 200917 yr I wouldn't even say Beverley's song is particularly R&B sounding, it's contemporary Soul. Something like "100%" (from her new album) is more R&B. But I agree with others about not even being sure what "R&B" is anymore. People like Rihanna are Beyoncé described as "R&B" but what they release is essentially Pop most of the time and most R&B artists are releasing stuff that can be classified as Pop. Akon, Busta Rhymes, T.I., Flo Rida, Kardinal Offishall and Wale have all released singles in the past year that either sample Europop or retro Pop songs, which is perhaps unexpected. It's quite confusing.
August 20, 200917 yr Gutted for Jade again. :( I've not lost complete hope yet, as it could realistically be added in the next two or three weeks tbh. But mehhh. Oh and I hope they add Kesha soon too... heard that on Galaxy today!
