Just seen the trailer for the film and its looking AMAZING. The special effects are simply breathtaking and look like a cut scene from a PS3 game and if a little more shading was added probably the closest thing to lifelike special effects we have ever had. The "trailer" as its being announced is more like a teaser trailer... It got a really good reception from Comic Con and tickets are being given out to see a 25minute preview of the film.. Have a look at the trailer for yourselves, ive tried looking on youtube but at the moment the only place to see it is on the Apple Mini-site.

Not going to lie, I was sick about hearing this movie before anyone had seen anything, that is how much hype it has already got.

Then since just before SDCC its been everywhere, its like AARRRGGHH

It is going be some kind of 'cinematic masterpiece' apparently. I can't say it interests me.

Likewise Chris.

Something about it looks...meh. I dunno, can't quite put it into words :heehee:

I heard about this film, apparently the film is so long you can easily get bored watching it.

Avatar movie?

For real? :o :o

Gonna watch the trailer I suppose. :heehee:

I think the film looks interesting. Will definitely go see it.

Obviously there's going to be a lot of hype around the film - it looks to be pushing the boundaries of CGI, and the director has not released a proper film for 12 years. Add this to the fact the majority of the films he's made have been pretty good, as well as one of them being the biggest film EVER then you can see why there is alot of hype around.

LOVE the poster

I'm hoping for a return to form from Cameron here.... More "Aliens" or "The Terminator" rather than "Titanic" or "True Lies" would be nice.... Teaming up again with Sigourney Weaver is a good move already. And Sam Worthington and Michelle Rodriguez as well....

But will it be as good as the upcoming "District 9".... Now that really does look bloody impressive..... And with some serious social commentary too... The best kind of Sci Fi is the one that works on an allegorical level...

yeahh.... what is this movie about?! haha I have no idea what it's about but I hear tickets are being sold this very instant CRAZY!!! This is Cameron's latest, his last being Titanic

I watch a lot of movies, and am especially obsessed with watching horrible films with inflated budgets. I was delighted to find that Avatar didn't disappoint in the absolutely horrible fetishizing of azure humanoids that James Cameron has obviously been drawing on the back covers of his notebooks since middle school and secretly getting off to in the gym locker room. The new technology they've been using to eliminate the headaches and sickness conducive to old 3D tech has not been used properly in the action scenes throughout Avatar. The problem is with cutting in between 3D focal points and perspective - the mind cannot adjust to it without a buffer - thus, Avatar is literally vomit inducing.

But the movie itself, the story/acting/tone are alienating and weird. Of course there are very beautiful moments, with great editing/sound/art direction, but overall it's a horrible piece of $h!t. The entirety of the Hollywood marketing machine is behind it, however, so it's going to make a boatload (eh I could slip a Titanic ref. whatever) of money.

f*** you Cameron and Hollywood etc.

I've heard it has already been dubbed "Water Smurf World" by a one critic who has seen it.
