August 24, 200915 yr yep i did, but the 60's dont get much response on here :( will take the batten up soon!
August 24, 200915 yr august 64 was right in the heart of the beat boom, although merseybeat had probabally peaked , there was still plenty around. the new r&b groups were coming through and class pop acts like the kinks were making their mark too. old rock n rollers were still in evidence, elvis, cliff (in r&r mode), del shannon, crickets, everleys ... dusty was awesome, 'i just dont know what to do with myself' is a beautiful, earnest, wistful track that oozes emotion and her vocals capture the mood perfectly. 'wishin and hopin' was also covered by dusty...imho better then the merseybeats. gAdTsAKvVTU&feature=related and 'i just dont know what to do with myself' ..... pity she appears to be miming, ive seen her (on tv) performing it live and its amazing. she could teach these x factor wannabes a thing or two! August 28, 200915 yr the honeycombes got to the top spot with 'have i the right', uniquely with a female drummer, a great beat track. i dont know most of the new entries, but one stands out.... the supremes starting their chart runs with their first hit 'where did our love go', one of my favs.
August 28, 200915 yr the honeycombes got to the top spot with 'have i the right', uniquely with a female drummer, a great beat track. Great tune. Actually bought it in 1977 by Dead End Kids! August 28, 200915 yr Great tune. Actually bought it in 1977 by Dead End Kids! Kelly by Wayne Gibson. Never heard of it but assume it's the same guy who had a hit with Under My Thumb in 1974. it is, the flip was 'see you later aligator' (to 'kelly') , under my thumb was originally realeased in 66.
September 2, 200915 yr 1964, on tour in the USA The Beatles appeared at The Convention Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Days before the concert, Philadelphia had experienced race-riots, The Beatles, who were Civil Rights supporters, were shocked to see that their audience of 13,000 is completely white. 1964, The Rolling Stones recorded their version of the Willie Dixon song ‘Little Red Rooster’ at Regent Sound Studios in London, England.
September 2, 200915 yr Kelly was originally written and recorded by Del Shannon (on the b side of his 1963 hit Two Kinds Of Teardrop) Under My Thumb was a Rolling Stones song.

September 4, 200915 yr i must advertise this track.... cilla black 'its for you', i know its unfashionable to like cillas rather...unique voice lol, but this track is actually very good, capturing the mid 60's sound perfectly. another great lennon/mccartney composition qenVKXyWWHw
September 4, 200915 yr this is hilarious! the newbeats 'bread and butter'... it was always a song for nostalgia only as its rubbish... but just look at this performance.. if you cross franki valli with alan tracey from thunderbirds, youll get the wooden lead singer! 8m1cP0ez_S8
