So if he's so reviled then why are his CD's selling? Unless Amazon are lying they got 12 in on Wed when they emailed me as I looked and I see only 1 in stock now, with "more on the way." Could his notoriety have actually led to a few curious people buying a hits collection of his?

Your life Chris but if he offends again you have the blood of his victim on your hands as you have helped give him the money to subsudise his lifestyle

You conveniently evaded the question B.A. Why are others besides me buying them then if he's so hated as the press would have us believe?

They are no better than you, blood on their hands too if he re-offends but the fact out of a global population of several billion and Amazon probably being the most popular website in the world 11 buying it is a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things

Because for every one of those twelve people who bought his music there are probably another hundred who would consider such an act to be repugnant...

This scenario confuses me a little. Obviously I believe in the freedom for people to purchase the music, even if I wouldn't do it myself, but how are we to solve the moral dilemma of the money that goes to Gary Glitter? Part of me wishes to confiscate him of the right to receive loyalties, but such an act would rob him of any potential earnings whatsoever...although of course there are some who would see no such problem with such a thing, it would leave him dependent on state benefits. I could really see that one going down well if it were ever to happen  So yeah, not really sure how we can deal with it outside of a boycott...maybe a one-off encouragement of illegal downloading in the case of criminals? Although I don't see the labels taking too kindly to that one :P

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he served his sentence so been punished for his crime? He surely starts with a clean slate now then?

I haven't ever came around to thinking about this TBH, there are very few accomplished artists around who have been convicted with high profile crimes anyway. A person reflects themself in their music, so quite obviously I would then not buy a serial killer or rapist's record because the artist himself/herself goes hand in hand with his/her music.

People going on about "we hate him/her as a person but love his/her music" has no logic at all IMO, if you like their music, you like them, because their music is what they are. I think you just need to draw the line between how forgivable the crime is, e.g. drugs, shoplifting is something that doesn't bother most at all but murder and rape on the other hand is beyond forgivable and those convicted should be imprisoned for life let alone be allowed to sell records.

Buying a criminal's music is equally as wrong, it's almost like stating that you approve of crime and so on. People should put their money where their mouth is in this case, we all detest crime and disagree with criminals so in turn to manifest that one would obviously NOT support a convicted criminal's music career.

God are you that naive or are you just on a fukkin pisstake ?

Do you seriously think that Glitter left to his own devices wouid not offend again ? course he bloody would man and you know it

I doubt that he would. Anyway he says he didn't do it. Think the moral of this story is NEVER TAKE YOUR PC IN TO PC WORLD!

Now I know you are on a pisstake just to get a reaction

Dunno why I give it you :manson:

Since you have so much time on your hands I suggest you do some research on his activities in the Far East not to mention the fact he was expelled from both Vietnam and Thailand but aah I guess raping slitty eyed girls thousands of miles away doesn't matter in your eyes

Yes I know what he did but he's been tried, convicted and served a sentence. I very much doubt that he'd dare offend again.

Are there two people called Crazy Chris here? On another thread someone also calling himself Crazy Chris is saying that he would support vigilante action against various other convicted criminals who have served their time.

They are murderers I believe though. Far worse offence.

i don't wanna talk about mj in here cos i know how some of you reacted towards me when i stuck up for him in the mj thread a while ago but what i will say is that i definitely don't buy someones music if i don't like what they do in their personal life like you say. the person and the music go hand in hand in my opinion and it's almost impossible to be a fan of somebody's music without having any kind of attachment towards the artist themselves.

but then i'm probably being a hypocrite because i've been listening to 'forever' by chris brown a lot lately so does that mean i'm condoning what he did? i didn't buy his single or album but i do love the song.

and trust me if mj was found guilty of doing the things that he was accused of then i'd really go off him. i definitely wouldn't stuck up for anyone like that but i don't know if i'd stop listening to their music. i mean if you've had a favourite song all your life and then the person that sung it was found out to be a rapist would you go off that song completely? that song's just a piece of music and i don't know if anyone else would but personally i'm not sure whether i'd just stop listening to it completely. but saying that i probably wouldn't go out and buy the album that it's on because i'd see that as supporting the rapist.

Totally agree.

I'll definitely not/never buy anything that comes from example a murderer or rapist. I don't mind listening to a criminal's stuff but I'll not buy it because that's "supporting" a criminal.

youd go off him if he was proven guilty of kiddy fiddling but its ok for him to play with, sleep with, masturbate with, ply drink too and show porn to little boys?

In all honesty I can't remember what you said in the Jacko thread but by saying what you are saying above are you not admitting that giving 8 year old boys alcohol, watching porn with them, letting them sleep in the bed of a man 40 years their senior without any biological ties to them and teaching them to masturbate is ok ? they are all things that Jacko is proven guilty of

They are bad enough in themselves mate

I had heard about the giving them alcohol and sleeping in the same bed as them parts Craig, but do you have a source for the teaching them to masturbate and watching porn with them parts? Not that I'm saying you're wrong, I just haven't seen them actually stated outside of this forum...

And aren't those two criminal acts in themselves anyway?

Can't we have an adult reasonable discussion without name-calling?
