Sugababes have insisted that they took on board criticism of their last album Catfights and Spotlights.

The girlband's sixth studio LP entered the UK chart at number eight in October 2008 before quickly falling out of the top 40. It also received a mixed response from fans.

Revealing how they bounced back following the disappointment, Heidi Range told the Liverpool Daily Post: "We got new stylists, auditioned a new band [and] got a new choreographer who has changed the way we dance and move.

"Once we started hearing the new tracks, we started getting our confidence back. You have to take criticism on board, especially constructive criticism.

"The band's been going for 12 years, and there are going to be ups and downs. We're just proud we've been relevant for that long. We are especially proud of this new album though, and we've got a new energy."

Meanwhile, discussing their forthcoming Sweet 7 disc, Keisha Buchanan commented: "Even though we weren't writing, we ended up being so hands-on. There's always been a pressure in the past to come up with songs from scratch in the studio, so it's been great not to have any ego about it, just letting new people come in and put their ideas to us."

Sweet 7 will be released in November.

They didn't do any writing this time? Kind of a step back wouldn't you say?

I kinda got that this era is a major step back when I heard get sexy

I hate how they keep putting down Catfights and Spotlights. It was actually a good album. I mean the group itself wasn't very likable when it was released, but the album is good. The lyrics in some of their songs on that album are among the best they sung...

Besides is they have all these bad things so say about it then why release it in the first place.

Yeah I agree, I guessed it was a step back when I heard the material but if they wrote it I wouldn't say it was all bad.

I haven't actually seen them criticise C&S yet, infact I've seen them say there are very proud of it. It's not bad to acknowledge that people didn't warm to it though.

Yeah I guess thats true...

So they didn't write anything at all for the new album??

that sucks, as much as i dislike keisha shes a really good songwiter

They haven't said anything bad about C&S to my knowledge.

They've said that they still love it, but that they thought they'd gotten complacent and that they hadn't listened to what people wanted.

I'm a bit miffed about the lack of writing though.

I really liked their last album. I think the problem with the album was it lacked a "killer" first single. There are certainly no potential singles as strong as "push the button" or "about you now" but its still a very solid album.
I've heard they have written a couple of tracks on the album (dunno if it's official) but I'm quite disappointed that they are not writing songs... They are true talented artists not puppets. But Ok... I'll judge the quality of the music. The surely needed a successful comeback to stay relevant and they did what they needed to do. so cheers! :)
Murder One had the potential to be a Killer single, excuse the pun.

Is that Every Heart Broken? I dunno what everyone sees in that, I prefer others on the album.
