Over to Canada again for our 40th entry!

Following last month's 7th place with Elsiane, it's Canada providing our entrant for the 40th contest to be held in Hendinia. Singer/songwriter Adaline's song Whiter/Straighter is a jaunty piano pop song with an edge, a memorable music video and some powerful vocals. Ricardo Delta said 'after starting off 2011 with a deluge of Swedes the second half of the year has seen us be a bit more experimental and we're rounding off the year with a song that has already been a huge Rontvian hit, smashing in at #4 this week in the national charts'. Whiter/Straighter will compete in Semi 1, aiming for a 38th final appearance for FSR Rontvia.

18th place for Adaline in Hendinia and year in review

After a string of hits dating back to Hafdis Huld's Kongulo in 2009, Adaline's Whiter/Straighter rounded off 2011 by becoming FSR Rontvia's first 'flop' entry since Example's Watch The Sun Come Up limped in 25th in XVIII. It finished in 18th place whilst Greenfroze scored their first win with a song that has already become a huge top three smash in FSR Rontvia, Rachel Platten's 1000 Ships. Adaline said 'it was a disappointing finish but not entirely unexpected, we're very grateful to everyone who liked the song and voted for us'.

Head of RTVN, Ricardo Delta continued '2011 has been a fantastic year for us, and although this finish isn't quite what we'd have hoped, we nevertheless finished the year over 250 points ahead of nearest competitor Kopecka. We've scored three more winners with Sheelah, Lykke Li and Chart Music, another runner up in Lise Karlsnes and a clutch of other top ten hits. Even in our golden era of XI-XX we flopped with Vincent and Example, so this year has definitely still been a return to form. Ten final appearances, no DNQ's, three victories and eight top tens, we're amazed and overwhelmed at the continued support! We look forward to The Best Of and to Greenfroze's hosting in XLI! 2011 has been fantastic for BJSC, entries from Rachel Platten, Misty Miller, Lana Del Rey, Frida Gold and Agnes Obel are all certain to feature within FSR Rontvia's soon to be revealed end of year top 100 so we've made some amazing discoveries once again - special thanks then to Greenfroze, Ojnoj, Isconia, Espen and Batidas. Kopecka, Ashton and Numayania should also be warmly thanked for their usual clutch of great entries during 2011. And we'll pat ourselves on the back too as two of our own entries are set to feature in our end of year top ten, a special prize to whoever can guess which two!'

FSR Rontvia's 2011 entry record was as follows: 1-1-6-12-1-9-10-2-7-18

Swedish dance act Prance Faris kick off 2012 with Flares representing FSR Rontvia in Greenfroze

Having not used a Swedish act since Chart Music's winner All My Life, FSR Rontvia has returned to 'the home of pop' this month - but are sending a dance song! Unknown dance act Prance Faris (a bit of a tongue twister of a name!) have been climbing up the Rontvian charts with Flares for a few weeks, and has currently been sitting in the top three of the Rontvian Hit Parade for three weeks, peaking at #2 so far. The exposure of the song in the Hit Parade has also seen it charting in Syndare, Seyetana and ex BJSC competing nation Tartford, peaking at #14, #16 and #2 in these nations so far respectively. This has led it to become a Multichart hit in The Buzzjack World, debuting at #73 this week.

Ricardo Delta, head of RTVN said, 'we're incredibly pleased with the pre-contest reaction and buzz that Flares has had, despite us not being able to officially confirm it as our entry. It's entered the Multichart on leaked sales and we hope it will climb with the official release, it's currently at #2 in FSR Rontvia's Year to Date chart and Prance Faris have said that he is looking forward to the experience of representing FSR Rontvia in the wonderful, clean and green climate of Greenfroze'.

The song has been described as a euphoric Avicii meets Sash! type dance anthem with some Scandipop influence. It has a few vocals but is predominantly an instrumental, the closest FSR Rontvia have ever come to sending one. You can hear Flares below;

Rich! This might be one of the songs that I will vote for you. I actually like this

Yay! I know it will appeal to different people than my last few entries but it's by far my favourite non Gotye/David Guetta song around at the moment and I just couldn't look past sending it to this contest!

The ASC and SNÁ expect the FSR Ashvia alliance to continue it's renaissance this month following the glorious Adaline.

:D

Whiter/Straighter was so underrated :(

Lise Karlsnes is trending worldwide on Twitter. The Rontvian public believe that it's a belated reaction to everybody suddenly discovering how UNDERRATED Red Hot actually was.

Prance Faris finish 3rd with Flares!

It's just been announced that Swedish dance act Prance Faris have finished an incredible third in Greenfroze for FSR Rontvia with the dance anthem Flares! Moving into the top ten early into the voting stages it slowly hovered around before climbing into the top three in the last few votes, attracting large support across the board. Ricardo Delta said "We're astounded with how well Flares has done, it's our third third place finish, following in the footsteps of classic Rontvian entries Mine All Mine by Maria and Mira and Boys & Girls by Pixie. Flares has already topped the Rontvian charts and is currently #2 on our year to date sales rankings. We made a triumphant start to 2011 with Sheelah's The Last Time winning and we consider this an impressive start to our fortunes in 2012, hopefully we can keep up the good results!".

Prance Faris commented "We had heard that 4th place was considered a glass ceiling for dance entries in BJSC, once Alexandra Stan had broken the previous glass ceiling of 6th for PRoJ last year. I'm elated that my song has finished inside the top three, dance is always a bit of an unknown quantity in BJSC." Will a dance entry ever win BJSC? Maybe one day we'll know.

With 32 points from Ashton out of 36 from the last 3 contest, I for one am THRILLED Flares finished 3rd.

Really can't wait for next month's entry.

In celebration of this return to form of FSR Ashvia I am having a little back to back epic of Adaline and Prance Faris.

Your support, as ever, is hugely appreciated and it's amazing to see this track do so well. A return to form I think after a very dodgy result last month, my highest score since Sheelah! Lykke Li and Lise both scored lower despite being a winner and 2nd placer respectively!

Me neither, now I just have to think of one

Totally deserved Richard. :D

I'm also glad that you smashed that glass ceiling for dance music and raised the bar to 3rd place. :D

Now that my votes have been revealed I suppose I can make up for lost time by saying how brilliant I think 'Flares' is. European dance music is something I've always liked but can pick out the gems from the really dodgy Eurodance tracks out there, and 'Flares' rises to the top.

No doubt it'll be big in my personal chart (when the instrumental trance kicks in... *.* *.* )

The less said about Lykke Li the better :kink:

I was very lucky this month that Tone's song appeared during confirmation week. I was sending Inn I Deg until then.

Thanks a lot Hits, really pleased that you liked it so much! I hope a dance song can come along and win one day, perhaps in a close contest it could happen. 160 points would be an easy winning score in some months!

I was the same, admittedly it had the chart run 31-15-9-2 for me initially so it wasn't until a couple of weeks down the line that it really hit me, but when it did it hit me hard and I haven't let go since, pure euphoria  (That's my favourite bit of the song too! The slowing down mellow piano before crashing right back in to the glorious trance synths, not sure how I'm going to find anything as good for the next contest!)

The less said about Lykke Li the better :kink:

Poor Lykke, it finishing top ten in TBO shocked me, although perhaps it shouldn't seeing as we get all of the indie contingent and only half of the pop voters turning up to vote in that every year.

Indeed, I like Inn I Deg but I think you might have struggled for top ten with it :o

Australian singer Gossling provides entry #42

http://www.parx-e.com/gallery/1/gossling.jpg

After going Swedish trance for the last contest, Aussie singer Gossling's Wild Love will be the 42nd BJSC entry from FSR Rontvia. The singer has had some crossover success in her home country recently, currently sitting at #3 there in collaboration with rapper 360 on a rap/pop hybrid called Boys Like You. With the momentum building, the singer, nicknamed 'Lana Del Rey without the trout pout' by Ricardo Delta, has embraced the opportunity to make her debut BJSC appearance. Wild Love has jaunty indie-pop production with a big, catchy chorus which has led the track to smash straight in at #4 on the national charts! Gossling said; 'The number 42 is the meaning of life, and it feels like fate that I was supposed to represent FSR Rontvia in Fljótavík this month. I hope people like Wild Love, I can't wait to sing it across The Buzzjack World'. Wild Love can be heard below;

Not related to BJSC at all but I just want to say I love the Douglas Adams reference in your subtitle :D

I'm glad somebody got that! :D More buzz is needed around the significance of contest 42!

It seems Australia is flavour of the month. ^_^

That's Gossling, Emma Hewitt and I've just found out that Hook N' Sling is a DJ/producer from...yep, Australia.

G'day mate!!! :D
