Vision 2010 - Ashton's On A Mission

With the countries XXIV entry still unannounced, the ASC today threw a spanner in the works by sending out an official press release with the first 3 Vision 2010 Titles.

[Reported by Jan Forhti]

While the ASC, SNA and GRA have confirmed Ashton's participation in the 24th Buzzjack Song Contest they have yet to confirm the countries entry fuelling speculation that Kristiina Brask had been dropped from consideration. Brask lead the charge in what the ASC was calling 'Search for a star' the first of the 9 Vision 2010 contests. Search for a star was set to be followed by True Blue Ashton leading people to think that Brask was to represent Ashton in XXIV followed by Gabriella Cilmi in XXV.

However, we are dealing with the ASC. Nothing is set in stone until the entry has been confirmed with the BJBU and host nation. So today in true Ashtonise style, the ASC announced the first 3 Vision 2010 titles:

XXIV - Ashton's On A Mission

XXV - Silver Ashton

XXVI - True Blue Ashton

Bloggers have suggested that the change has paved way for Gabriella Cilmi to represent the country in XXIV. Silver Ashton is rumoured to refer to XXV being not only the 25th anniversary of the contest, but of Ashton's 25th participation. True Blue Ashton has been delayed to XXVI to allow the country to celebrate the Silver Anniversary.

The Federal Republic has gave no indication of it's intended direction for XXV although many BJSC experts are predicting that Sugababes 2.0 will represent the country followed by Jessica Mauboy in XXVI. The ASC laughed off our suggestions stating that they were concentration on XXIV for the time being and that their search for XXV and XXVI was a long way from starting..

With On A Mission on the ban list for XXIV it is reckoned that Ashton will send Hearts Don't Lie from upcoming album Ten.

On A Mission was released in Ashton on Monday and is set to break sales records after selling a massive 21.8million copies on it's first day of release. Ten will be released in Ashton in March

Tinashe Lost in Translation

The King of Shadow today arrived in Ashton amidst much confusion over whether Gabriella Cilmi or Kristiina Brask will be sent to the next contest. The reason for the King's visit had been to help promote the Shadowan entry, Tinashe, who performed at a small gig in the repbublic but hit the headlines for wading in on who he thought the ASC should pick as their entrant. 'Brask is urely the obvious choice?! She's new fresh and different. Gabby, as much as we love her, has already been sent to the contest and with much better songs. We want to see Ashton with a amother hit!'.

Tinashe performed two tracks; 'Mayday' from his forthcoming EP and 'Come On Over' his BJSC XXIV entry.

The Federal Republic is thankful to the Great Kingdom for their input into Brask vs Cilmi and for the visit to the Federal Republic by Tinashe.

Anna Abreu throws her weight behind Brask for Ashton

Rontvian XX entrant Anna Abreu has been discussing who she believes should represent Ashton in the twenty fourth edition of the BJSC to be held in Quotosibb. 'I love Kristiina Brask obviously as I'm Finnish myself and I always support the home artists. It's great to see Ashton championing originality in BJSC by considering foreign language songs as their entries. Nevio/Cilmi's song may not have done that well but this more uptempo pop song is sure to win a lot of fans, particularly when there isn't that much pop to vote for anyway this month, it's almost all indie'. When asked how she felt about Ashton being called one of the most uninspired countries in BJSC last month in the awards nominations Anna said 'I was outraged, Ashton have shown great originality, introducing us to Red Blooded Women, Tone Damli Aaberge, Alex Roots, Lorelei Carlson and loads of other great and new acts - I can only assume that these people called Ashton 'uninspired' because of their tendency to fall back on Sugababes and Gabriella Cilmi a lot'. Anna Abreu's Music Everywhere was a major hit around the Buzzjack World last year finishing 3rd in the year end chart in FSR Rontvia and selling millions of copies in Ashton who called it the best Rontvian entry since Smack Me. Abreu is doing a major tour of Ashton in May with the 14 arena dates reportedly selling out in 5 minutes. She has asked Kristiina Brask to be the support act.

Kylienips begin their mini leg of their national tour and debut at Ashton with their live performance of their BJSC entry hit.

Vision 2010 - Ashton's On A Mission

The ASC has confirmed that the Federal Republic of Ashton will be entering the 24th Buzzjack Song Contest with Kristiina Brask and her song Kuivillia Susta. The Finnish track is the first song to be entered by Ashton that isn't entirely in English.

The confirmation comes after much deliberation by the ASC, SNA and GRA over who to send. Brask is thought to have won out over Cilmi on grounds of originality. The decision comes after over a week of conflict within the ASC and between the SNA and GRA.

Kristiina thanks Anna for her support and would be delighted to support her fellow Finnish Idol almuni on her tour.

Music Everywhere has sold 114.2million copies to date in Ashton and Anna is expected to perform to nearly 5million people on her Arena tour performing 4dates in Morpeth Cove's Queen Mutya Arena which holds 750,000 people.

We also outraged by those accusations

Actually that's quite good, I was tempted to use Najoua and she was singing in French with M (Hey Hey Hey) but I thought it would split the voters.

Not at all impressed with the result :( really sorry to see another DNQ, you would have got a heap of points from Rontvia if I was in your semi, but I never am  great pop song, didn't deserve it. Hope you can try to come back with something stunning next month, at least Ten will have probably leaked by then :kink:

The federal republic is outraged at their third consecutive DNQ.

An emergency meeting of the ASC is underway to determine if the Republic will continue in the contest.

Televoting, Online voting and the Jury vote have already been scraped for the XXIV final.

Thanks :snif:

Our track record shows that our originality fails, then we get slated for being uninspired for sending our favourite artist to XXI when we say specifically it's purely in memory of Keisha's contribution to the babes not for a result.

We're f***ed if we do, f***ed if we don't

Thanks :snif:

I honestly don't know what to suggest, short of switching genres for XXV, but you shouldn't have to be made to send something that doesn't feel right just to do well. Stuff originality and just go with your favourite song next month I guess.

I'm not going indie because everyone else is and it's the 'in' thing. It's still $h!te and 95% unlistenable.

If we stay past 25, it'll be with our trademark genres.

The shortlist for next month is looking good and highly uninspired.

Well I commend you for sending a song that's song in something other than english. It's always a bold choice, but very risky.

not indie necessarily maybe garage, metal, classical, trance? :heehee:

looking forward to hearing your choices for next month, I'll be sure to give my opinion as always :D not that it helped you much this month :(

I'm surprised you didn't make it. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I didn't imagine it'd be the least popular of the three foreign entries in your semi. I suppose the other two had bigger Pop hooks, but it was the indie semi, so I thought you'd do alright. Before I'd added up the results I even suggested your semi could end up benefitting you (indie voters being more open to other languages etc.) but it wasn't so.

The language of a song doesn't really make any difference to how I perceive it. If a foreign language metal song was sent to the contest, I wouldn't instantly give it points for effort, so I guess the indie voters maybe appreciated the foreign language of the track but didn't like the poppiness of it in the first place :(

It's odd, seeing as I'm not a lyrics based person, I usually don't even differentiate between English and foreign tracks, I care usually only about the music  As long as I can remember/sing some of the words, no matter what language, I'll enjoy it as much as an English song I loved usually. I've always listened to loads of foreign language music, even before I was a Eurovision loon, it's a surprise I've never sent a foreign song to BJSC...
