Just noticed that I'll Stand By You (original 2004 version) is at #10 in Girls Aloud's Popular Top 10 songs list on Spotify - for a little while it was Can't Speak French, so it seems the recent Sarah's Version/the tour airing has helped the original!

"Sound of the Underground" is now Girls Aloud's most streamed song on Spotify, overtaking "Love Machine".

:wub: Sound of the Underground has done really well to catch up and overtake Love Machine!

 

I looked back on this thread and discovered that Love Machine moved ahead of Sound of the Underground in May 2018, at that point they were both on 8.6m streams. The gap widened over the years - in August 2022 Love Machine was on 45.1m, well ahead of SOTU on 37.2m.

 

Love Machine passed 50m in May 2023, SOTU did it in February 2024.

 

 

In other Spotify news, I'll Stand By You moves up to 9th in their popular list, and Sarah's Version is new in 10th spot - both pushing out The Show!

Another movement is Something Kinda Ooooh up to 4th, and Jump down to 5th. Interesting how up and down Jump can be in their list, there was a moment a while back when it was their #1 most popular! Not sure if I've ever noticed SKO being as high as 4th before now.

Must be due to its use on Drag Race UK a few weeks ago.

I've just realised that 'Not Tonight Santa' is no longer on Spotify's Christmas Pop playlist :( I think that playlist was the main reason for it getting great streams, so that's unfortunate.

Something New climbing itunes as it was used on strictly, nice to see it get a dew extra sales.

'Not Tonight Santa' sadly isn't doing as well this year, but it's not surprising with it being bumped off the Christmas Pop playlist. Currently it's 6th in their Popular Top 10 with 9,631,013 streams (quite the contrast to 2024 when it was already 4th place as early as 24th November).

 

It's increased by 339,004 since the last total I noted down for it on 2nd June 2024. Whereas it managed around 2.5m streams during Christmas 2022, and similarly in Christmas 2023... which certainly shows how important particular playlists are.

 

A bit of a strange one that Spotify decided to stop supporting it in the year of their comeback! :drama:
