Posted July 18, 200619 yr McFly are on course for their fifth number one single this week, with early retail reports suggesting their Sport Relief single Don't Stop Me Now/Please Please (Island) has been outselling Lily Allen's current chart topper Smile since its release yesterday. The single is the band's third double-sided effort to date and the second to both feature a cover version - in this case a Queen track - and also to be the official song for a BBC charity event. With Lily Allen and Shakira set to complete the top three, Def Jam's Rihanna is likely to claim the number four spot with Unfaithful, with James Morrison's You Give Me Something (Polydor) rising into the Top Five. Also set to rise considerably are Warner acts Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gnarls Barkley, with Wolfmother (Island), Christina Aguilera (RCA), Franz Ferdinand (Domino), Snow Patrol (Fiction) and The Flaming Lips (Warners) all set to enter the Top 40. In the albums market, a trio of new releases from Razorlight (Vertigo), Lily Allen (Regal) and Paolo Nutini (Atlantic) are set to make a splash at the chart summit, with Razorlight's self-titled effort likely to give the band their first number one. These new entries, however, look unlikely to prevent a significant week-on-week downturn at retail level, with The Pipettes (Memphis Industries), Ali Farka Toure (World Circuit), The Rifles (Red Ink) and greatest hits sets from The Beach Boys (Capitol) and Moloko (Echo) the sole other entries, in the bottom half of the chart. Of note, however, is Nouvelle Vague's Bande A Part (Peacefrog), which is set to rise from last week's position of 119 to within the top 50. July 18, 200619 yr Author Well.. predict away I reckon its going to be McFly at #1  Rihanna close second, James Morrison and Gnarls Barkley in the top 10 Chilis will probably miss the top 10 by 1 at #11 along with Chris Brown, Sean Paul and Snow Patrol further down the chart. And in the album, Muse might hang on for a third week, or Razorlight grab the top spot.
July 18, 200619 yr I hope Rihanna gets #1... I think McFly might chart lower than people expect ending up somewhere between 4 and 6... I hope Chris Brown gets top10 its a good song, but I think he will chart around 14, and I dont care for Gnarls but he will probably chart about 8 - 12... Razorlight will take it quite easily in the album, with Lily at #2...
July 18, 200619 yr McFly will be number 1 :( Rihanna number 2 or 3, Gnarls 8 or 9 with the RHCPs. Albums, Lily Allen and Razorlight will be fighting for Number 1.
July 18, 200619 yr I really dont think that McFly are going to do that well... If Rihanan doesnt get #1 im going to be furious... 3 times at #2 is just mean!
July 18, 200619 yr Top3 Singles: 1. Lily Allen (especially as the album is not very good) 2. Rihanna 3. James Morrison ------------------------ 4. McFly 7. Gnarls Barkley 9. RHCP Albums: 1. Razorlight (America is arguably the best Rock song I have heard all year) 2. Lily Allen (if you like Smile, download LDN & Littlest Thing & dont bother buying the album) 3. Muse
July 18, 200619 yr Oh but I dont think Rihanna will be at #1 in the mids though... but watch me be wrong!
July 18, 200619 yr   McFly :banghead: WILL be number 1 but im hoping that their sales fall through the week as usual and Rihanna or Lily will overtake PLEASE. i'll never be horrible about shayne ward ever again!!!!
July 18, 200619 yr   McFly :banghead: WILL be number 1 but im hoping that their sales fall through the week as usual and Rihanna or Lily will overtake PLEASE. i'll never be horrible about shayne ward ever again!!!! Its inevitable about McFly, they had nearly sold out in my Virgin Megastore yesterday :(
July 18, 200619 yr Damn Mcfly - I bought Alright, Still yesterday and I wish I didn't. What a load of c**p.
July 18, 200619 yr First new entry at No.1 for a while :-0 Surprised Rihanna hasn't been disqualified-its only out on a 2-track cd which runs for 12 and a half minutes
July 18, 200619 yr Author The last new entry to go straight in at No.1 was Gnarls Barkley with 'Crazy' since 8 April
July 18, 200619 yr According to the MW report - Christina Aguilera IS out as a single on July 24th after all (not July 31st). So the HMV website was more accurate than Xtina's own website!!!
July 18, 200619 yr Author Also Snow Patrol should be a download only new entry shouldn't it? Yes it is, just re-edited, I thought it was released this week, my mistake there.
July 18, 200619 yr Author Cough, No Sean Paul and Chris Brown, I'm positive they will be in the top 20 somewhere.
July 18, 200619 yr I hope The Pipettes are doing ok when the positions are in as they bloody deserve it  (if only they could swap with Lily Allen -_- )
