Posted September 11, 200718 yr Kanye to Graduate in battle of hip-hop giants 11 September 2007 - 13:45:58 Source: MW Kanye West appears to be winning the battle of the hip-hop giants after early retail sales indicate his newly-issued album is outselling 50 Cent’s new album in the UK. West’s Rock-a-Fella/Mercury album Graduation presently leads what could be a top three made up entirely of new entries this coming Sunday, with 50 Cent’s Interscope/Polydor album Curtis and Kt Tunstall’s second Relentless/Virgin studio album Drastic Fantastic fighting for second place. 50 Cent has publicly stated he would retire as a recording artist if his new album is outsold by West’s latest offering. Three other newly-issued albums are also vying for Top 10 debuts: RCA Label Group’s Brightside label’s Natalie Imbruglia retrospective Glorious – The Singles 97-07, 679 Recordings/Warner Bros act Kano with London Town and All Around The World’s Ultrabeat with The Album. Lower down, new entries are expected from Memphis Industries signings Go Team, Universal label W14’s Siouxsie Sioux and Fiction/Polydor’s Stephen Fretwell. A UMTV Marc Bolan & T-Rex best of, Greatest Hits, is also expected to arrive in the Top 40 this weekend, coinciding with activity around the 30th anniversary of Bolan’s death. The singles chart has the RCA single Beautiful Girl by Sean Kingston and Hollywood/Angel’s Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s as the main contenders for number one for a second week, while Top 10 new entries could come from Elvis Presley with another RCA re-issue (Party) and Interscope/Polydor’s 50 Cent with his Justin Timberlake pairing Ayo Technology. In the week after the tenor’s death, Luciano Pavarotti’s Decca single Nessun Dorma also looks likely to make a strong rise up the chart having returned at number 24 last weekend, some 17 years after its first chart run. Other big chart climbs this Sunday are expected to come from Hed Kandi/MoS’s Booty Luv with Don’t Mess With My Man and XL act White Stripes with You Don’t Know What Love Is, while Top 40 entries could include releases by Andy Lewis & Paul Weller (Acid Jazz label), Puressence (Reaction Records), Chemical Brothers (Virgin), Dead 60s (Deltasonic/Columbia) and Status Quo, who are looking to chart for the first time on their own Fourth Cord label. ============================================ Top 40 Only Singles 01 Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls 9.5k 02 Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah 7.4k 03 Elvis Presley - Party 6k Top 10 50 Cent - Ayo Technology (D) Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma (D) Top 15 Booty Luv - Don't Mess With My Man White Stripes - You Don't Know What Love Is Top 20 Andy Lewis & Paul Weller - Are You Trying To Be Lonely Top 30 Puressence - Drop Down To Earth Taio Cruz - Moving On Top 40 Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (D) Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance Dead 60s - Stand Up Dave Spoon - Bad Girl (At Night) Top 50 Status Quo - Beginning Of The End Dykeenies - Stitches Hi_Tack - Let's Dance Top 60 Akon - Sorry Blame It On Me (D) Him - The Kiss Of Dawn Ash - End Of The World Charlean Dance - Mr DJ Top 75 T.Rex - Get It On Stereophonics - Handbags & Gladrags (D) Will.I.Am - I Got It From My Mama (D) Out Of Office - Hands Up Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - The Beat That My Heart Skipped 76-100 Kate Nash - Mouthwash (D) Carbon/Silicon - The Magic Suitcase Hellogoodbye - Baby Its Fact Just Jack - No Time Smashing Pumpkins - That's The Way (My Love Is) =============================== Albums 01 Kanye West 30k 02 50 Cent 23k 03 KT Tunstall 18k Top 10 Natalie Imbruglia Kano Top 15 Ultrabeat Top 20 Go Team T.Rex Top 30 Siousxie Top 40 Stephen Fretwell Klaxons Pavoritti Top 50 Inme Top 75 Kosheen Alabama 3 76-100 King Creosote Iced Earth Kevin Ayers ====================================================== Wednesday Update (Top 40 Only) Singles 01 Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls 02 Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah 03 Kanye West - Stronger Top 5 50 Cent - Ayo Technology (D) Top 10 Elvis Presley - Party Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma (D) Top 15 Booty Luv - Don't Mess With My Man White Stripes - You Don't Know What Love Is Top 20 Andy Lewis & Paul Weller - Are You Trying To Be Lonely Top 30 Taio Cruz - Moving On Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (D) Top 40 Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance Dave Spoon - Bad Girl (At Night) Puressence - Drop Down To Earth ====================== Albums 01 Kanye West 02 50 Cent 03 KT Tunstall Top 10 Natalie Imbruglia Kano Ultrabeat Top 20 Go Team T.Rex Top 30 Siousxie Pavarotti Top 40 Stephen Fretwell Klaxons KT Tunstall - EOTT Please Note: NO SALES INFORMATION =============================================== Thursday Update Top 40 Only Singles 01 Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls (17k) 02 Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah (13k) 03 Kanye West - Stronger Top 5 50 Cent - Ayo Technology (D) Top 10 Elvis Presley - Party Top 15 Luciano Pavarotti - Nessun Dorma (D) Booty Luv - Don't Mess With My Man Top 20 White Stripes - You Don't Know What Love Is Top 30 Andy Lewis & Paul Weller - Are You Trying To Be Lonely Taio Cruz - Moving On Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (D) Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance Top 40 Dave Spoon - Bad Girl (At Night) Puressence - Drop Down To Earth Top 50 Hi_tack - Let's Dance Akon - Sorry Blame It On Me (D) Dead 60s - Stand Up Status Quo - Beginning Of The End Top 60 Dykeenies - Stitches Ash - End Of The World Charlean Dance - Hey Mr DJ HIM - The Kiss Of Dawn Out Of Office - Hands Up Will I Am - I Got It From My Mama (Genetics) (D) Top 70 Moby - Extreme Ways (D) 30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill (D) T. September 11, 200718 yr why does KT release her album in such a difficult week? i'm getting very tired of seeing rap/r 'n' b at the top of the charts....
September 11, 200718 yr I think KT Tunstall MIGHT be number one, depending on if she still has her fans. If not, it will be KanYe. I hope it's not Fiddy Pence, I might just have to cut my wrist's off.
September 11, 200718 yr why does KT release her album in such a difficult week? i'm getting very tired of seeing rap/r 'n' b at the top of the charts.... Well, KT is VERY strong, isn't she the 2nd biggest selling female after Dido in the UK?
September 11, 200718 yr I think KT will flop Sean will stay number 1 for sure and Kanye will be number 1 album
September 11, 200718 yr Well, KT is VERY strong, isn't she the 2nd biggest selling female after Dido in the UK? Albums-wise, I don't think her singles will ever be number one.
September 11, 200718 yr I'm surprised about Natalie being top10 but pleased. Got my album yesterday and the new tracks are lovely.
September 11, 200718 yr No chance of Signor Pavarotti climbing 23 places to number 1 then? If it got rid of that Kingston c**p, I'd buy a few thousand copies myself... :)
September 11, 200718 yr Dissapointed for Booty Luv - Their best song yet but hope the album does well :w00t: Cant believe how well Ultrabeat are doing?
