Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up

Oh I could have sworn there was discussion that given TFOO went to ACR right before December it wouldn’t get reset? Maybe I’m remembering it wrong.

I really don’t get why Taylor’s been reset? I feel like the label must have asked either that or the occ really do make it up as they along. Hoping Die on this Hill keeps climbing, I have a hunch it might eventually get to the top in the new year.
  4. There was me being proud of being in the top 0.3% and someone’s 0.09% 🤣 fair play. She got song, album and artist on my wrapped. Abracadabra had 91 plays. I’m sure somethings wrong with the albums as the rest of my top five is totally different to my last.fm play count. My second most streamed album hasn’t changed for months and yet it’s not even in my top 5 wrapped.

This is why ACR doesn’t work, there’s all these ifs and buts and reset/dodge rules which shouldn’t exist and undermines the whole thing. Would be nice if Raye could get to No.1 at some point into December though, rather than the usual dross.
  6. Guessing Charli isn’t in the top 200 with Chains of Love? It’s really growing on me, hope it does get a second wind in the new year.
  7. I think after 18 months or so removing songs from the singles chart is a good idea personally. Having two charts for songs would probably be a good compromise going forward, one for official singles and another for singles/album tracks/songs older than 18 months. That way there’s still an element of seeing how any song is doing in terms of popularity but the singles chart is reserved for a more competitive format and breaking new music. I think in the streaming era it would work especially with post album singles as they would just move across and not have ACR being applied for 10 weeks, which with a well timed remix might give a big first week boost effect. ACR itself though needs a major overhaul though as I think that itself is part of the problem, but there’s a lot that needs to change for singles and albums really.
  8. Yeah I also agree with that, how bad should have been a single and they left it too long. Zombieboy I’d also argue would have been better than dead dance as well.
  9. I do feel Gaga is one of those acts that does suffer in the UK albums mainly due to stupid chart rules, where if an album just has a couple of hits it gets penalised for it. Mayhem might do better because it’s had more hits than Chromatica did but I’d like to think both would be platinum now if it wasn’t for that (or at least on the cusp of being platinum). I really hope she does push another single as I think she could still have a surprise smash from this album with the right choice/promotion.

Kind of hope Golden claims the No.1 back to be honest. It’s a shame Man I Need went to ACR so quick otherwise it would have comfortably been at the top. Surprised Lily is so low but I haven’t noted her streaming positions, I assume it’s died back a bit.

Hoping Lily climbs to No.2, but I assume Taylor probably did and is still just ahead on steams enough to hold it. They are a band though technically so doesn’t really count (even if she’s the only visible member). Glad it’s another No.1 for them though

Really decent sales from Lily, I never liked much of her older stuff bar a few songs from the second album but West End Girl is brilliant. Great to see some British acts smashing it this week!
  13. I’m a firm yes for this, but perhaps give songs a year of charting before clearing them out rather than a song being taken out just because it’s dropped below a position after x amount of weeks. Unfortunately with the way music is consumed these days, I think there’s no choice to add in lots of rules to make a chart work. ACR might have had the right idea but it is poorly executed, the drop in streaming ratio is too harsh/quick and then there’s the dodge rules and resetting which makes the whole thing utterly pointless. We’ve actually had more songs charting 20 weeks or more in the top 10 since ACR came in because of this. I think the streaming ratio of 1:150 as a flat rate should be applied as it matches with basically every other singles chart going. Then instead of ACR boost single sales for 12 weeks by reducing it to 1:100 and then after that it declines back to 1:150 gradually over two weeks. That’s it, the only exception should be if a song has yet to peak in the top 10 and it’s still gaining momentum. Then after a year songs are cleared out, if they are below the top 40 and move to include the top 30 after 60 weeks or something. Also ban any album tracks and have them chart in a separate songs chart. If they decide to push a single then it moves across with a lower ratio as if it was a brand new single release. Also as many singles as an artist can pump out in a year should chart too. That would be a good starting point I feel, sorry that ended up a long winded post.

Yeah she’ll get the double this week Taylor, but I doubt the album will hold next week. Her streaming units aren’t holding up as well as the last two albums so she’ll be lucky to clear 20k next week I feel.
  15. Must admit I didn’t expect 300k initially, I don’t think it’ll break 400k though. It’ll be interesting to see how it holds up compared to TTPD and Midnights next week. I think it’ll take 2-3 weeks to get past Sabrina for the top selling album this year.
