Billboard ranked it as the #1 performance of the night: No living legend is more associated with the MTV VMAs than Madonna, so for the Queen of Pop to open the 2026 VMAs was fitting – but it also meant that expectations were high, especially after the broadcast delay. But Madonna being Madonna, she was more than up to the challenge. It started understated, with Madonna sitting on top of a Yamaha piano with Sabrina Carpenter at the keys for their “Bring Your Love” duet, built momentum with a gospel choir segue and climaxed with the sleazy public restroom fantasia of the “Danceteria Afterhours” remix. Charli xcx spat her come-up story; Sombr strutted his stuff; Fab 5 Freddy basked in his lyric shout-out; leather daddy Seth Rogen smoked a cig; Danceteria OG Debi Mazar swung through; and Julie Garner rocked a Truth or Dare-era look. Yep. This is how you start the party.

Incredible night for her. Massive wins and a brilliant celebratory performance.

I hope this bit isn’t aimed at me because I am a huge Taylor fan of everything post Debut -> Midnights... And not sure why the critics are suddenly biased, now her music is receiving negative reviews because they weren't when everything was being reviewed positively and Grammys were all over her for every era she had in recent years. If anything it suggests maybe the music has nose-dived in quality for many people (but of course not all - the beauty of music being subjective).

Agree, but this time I think they're pretty spot on given my own thoughts on the songs as I posted~ I take with a pinch of salt too, but this time, I agree with them.

Cleveland! is one of her worst ever songs, I cringed so hard. Pink Clouding is her singing about an array of colours again with overly complex metaphors and clunky lyricism. Babylon perhaps my favourite of the non-singles but still mid. This is such a misfire of a project, what was she thinking. Currently down to 39 on Metacritic, 143 is in danger of losing its award of lowest rated big pop girl album score

A top 100 appearance is great! I am hoping it charts top 40 this week.

She only said that because Lynx said earlier that he wouldn't ever go against a "sister" in the house, didn't she? She was calling out his hypocrisy. I don't think her comment came out of nowhere!

Agree. Team alllll the others (minus Lynx). Wow what have I just seen? One of the best Big Brother episodes in years this is insane. Joanne rising in my expectations, Lynx and the two showmance girls are rock bottom. Bye to them all. Yasmin "WHY ARE YOU WET!?" was the highlight of it all. SCREAMING

YES JACK I KNEW I COULD RELY ON YOU. It has really hit me so so so hard, I can't describe it. That and F.A.M.T. are the two masterpieces. She does sad/euphoric vibes expertly. The entire album is incredible. My expectations strangely weren't the highest but that made it all the more special hearing it and being blown over by it all. I love her so much
