    PICK TWO

    19th. Kill the Moon (6 votes | 19.35%)

Kill the Moon is one of my favourite episodes listed and possibly my favourite of Series 8 so I'm sad to see it out to soon. I expected it though considering how it threw the scientific rules out the window. The main criticism comes from the fact that the story makes the moon an egg, containing a living creature which hatches and immediately lays an egg exactly the same size in its place because, you know, we need the moon. It's all very daft but I personally believe it is executed perfectly. It's brilliantly dark on many levels, there's the literal aspect, the scary monsters and the Doctor's act of leaving Earth's fate in Clara, Courtney and Lundvik's hands. The sets and locations are amazing and it offers a greatly realistic look at being on the moon. Whereas Angie and Artie were awful, Courtney is written and played excellently that she becomes a necessary part of the plot and helps enhance it. It's what I want from a Doctor Who story.

The Woman Who Lived was a story that really didn't work for me as, whilst it was exploring a different aspect, it tried to force this into a Doctor Who format and the two didn't work well together. The episode explored the effect of the Doctor giving Ashildr (now called Me) immortality in the previous episode, which had taken place hundreds of years in the past. It mixed this up with an alien artifact that an alien lion wanted to use to get home or destroy the Earth or something I didn't care for. I thought the confrontations between Me and the Doctor contained excellent writing but didn't work in a show like Doctor Who and, they especially weren't as effective coming straight after the episode Ashildr had been in because the two became completely different characters that all care was lost as it felt quite forced.

  4. As I said before, she's playing it perfectly. I was worried that she might blow up again after her comments in the diary room today so it was great to see her having so much fun, it was all hilarious!

She's probably going to do a Gina in terms of popularity ie peaking too soon, as we still have just under two weeks left. I still think Scotty T has it in the bag but I can see her coming 2nd/3rd.

  5. This is the most infuriating thing in existence. Literally cannot WAIT for this to come out, they're my favourite childhood books (behind Harry Potter obv) and have read them all several times and adore them. BUT I've had the same feeling since it was first announed... back in November 2014. :) :) :)

The wait is so agonising but I'm glad that there is FINALLY some sort of movement on the project with the casting of NPH and hopefully they start filming asap. I just want to see all the books in dramatic form

I'm hoping we'll get more answers if they manage to make all the books in the end. I'm not sure how they're planning on doing it, one book an episode or multiple series? I just hope they do them ALL this time otherwise the frustration will be real once again.

Sorry I'm very passionate about this.

    24 August 2009 – present (14 series) • UK TV and Soaps

The daytime quiz giant, Pointless, manages to reach the Top 20! The show features a very simplistic but a creative and winning format. Turning Family Fortunes onto its head, players are tasked with 'finding the most obscure answers to general knowledge questions based on pre-conducted public surveys of 100 people from the UK'. The less people who have said the same answer, the better and if no one siad the same answer as the contestant, they will have a pointless answer and add money to the jackpot. In order to win the show, they must find one of these pointless answers in the final round. It adds another layer to the quiz show, rather than just finding a correct answer, it must also be an obscure one! The show is very easy to play along with at home with has enhanced its popularity. It has also made a star out of the show's creator, Richard Osman, who helps to provide the facts and figures. I initially enjoyed the show but I found Alexander repeating each question twice (and stating the blanks each time in rounds like 'p_i_t_e_s') annoying, but I have warmed to the show again as I think they've started to sort that out. You can't deny its popularity and it has become one of the biggest daytime shows, as well as a Saturday night hit with its celebrity edition!

    3rd October 2004 – 13th May 2012 (8 seasons) • International TV

For 8 years, Desperate Housewives was one of the biggest shows on TV. Relying on an expansive ensemble cast, the show was set in a surburban neighbourhood and focused on the lives who lived there. The main focus surrounded on the secrets and mysteries that were lying there, with each season having it's own overarching mystery storyline, mainly surrounding a new family who has moved into the street. The show also focused on the lives of the four main female characters, exploring their highs and lows, with each suffering from their own troubles such as affairs and finance problems, and no one suffered more than Lynette. The show brought plenty of shocks and surprises but there was also a comedy aspect to the show due to the behaviour of the housewives. Each episode was narrated by a character, Mary Alice, who had been killed off in the first episode. She was often the one to reveal the secrets with her narration at the start of each episode taking on a different meaning at the end. The show had enormous ratings in its early years and they were still impressive towards the shows end, particularly following a 5 year time jump with Season 5.

  9. omg, another year to wait nooo. It's the right decision though, it was getting a bit lost and pushed aside in the Autumn because of Strictly, the Spring suits it better.

In regards to the bigger news, Steven's departure was to be expected and six series is a HUGE amount and it does mean its time to move on, just to freshen it up for the general audience. Chris Chibnall though, I didn't expect that. :o He did a great job on Torchwood as executive producer and Broadchurch is fantastic but, I agree, I'm not the biggest fan of his Doctor Who episodes (Power of Three is probably my favourite). Change is exciting for a show like this though, so I'm looking forward to see his take on the show!

It's great news that they're still invested in the show though. After the rumours of the BBC's initial response to RTD's depature, I was concerned they might be hesitant to continue it again without an obvious replacement. And it's great that we've got two more series confirmed! :cheer:

I'm going to guess that Peter will bow out with Steven.

    9th June 2007 – present (9 series) • Reality TV

Britain's Got Talent is another mammoth reality giant and it's popularity has been impressively sustained over the years. The show of course was brought to us by Simon Cowell and its initial years saw Piers Morgan join Amanda Holden and Cowell as judges. A brief blip occurred following the departure of the two men but the show found its feet again with a panel of Cowell, Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams. Presented by Ant & Dec, the show focuses on variety, meaning you should expect the unexpected. Or rather, expect the occasional unexpected alongside singers (largely opera) and dance troupes. We've seen everything from DJ Talent, a father & son dancing topless, eye-poppers and reguritators. The show has helped to discover/bring prominence to many talented acts but the biggest success story, and one of the biggest reality moments ever, is Susan Boyle. Millions and millions of people watched her audition on YouTube as we learned that we judge unnecessarily. Whilst she didn't win, she managed to transform those views into millions of sales, becoming a massive hit in the US. The show is a lot more fun than it's ITV counterpart and is one of the main reasons for its success!
