I think the better songs always stall at number 2 unfortunately.

No wonder we lost the World Cup that year with that dross. 🙄 I hope James Corden and Dizzee are really embarrassed about it. The 2010 World Cup songs from Shakira and K'Naan were far superior.

Looking forward to 2010 and 2011 as there are quite a few forgotten Number 1 singles in those countdowns. Some good some bad.

I've never been a Lady Gaga fan myself. So many people in my age group went mad for her from 2009 onwards. I'm sure some still do. There's nothing wrong with that. I have found over the years that Lady Gaga has immense talent and is a versatile artist. She can carry off any style or genre. You just wouldn't catch me checking her Instagram or Twitter every 5 minutes. I find 'Poker Face' a repetitive and robotic song which does not showcase her vocal abilities. She's released better than this over the years. I think her best songs are stripped back.

'I'm Not Alone' is one of my favourite Calvin Harris songs and a glimpse into what the 2010s will sound like. I noticed that producers like Martin Garrix, Hardwell and Swedish House Mafia tried to replicate this sound later on. However, it doesn't really compare to this song.

I always had a soft spot for La Roux's music back then. It reminds me of playing Sonic the Hedgehog. It's a shame they didn't last very long. I don't remember anything else they did apart from 'In for the Kill' and 'Bulletproof'. I am loving the graphics and style of the 'Bulletproof' video too. Bringing the 80s into the 00s. That Dizzee Rascal song would come near the bottom of my countdown. I think it's absolute poo. 💩

This was such a change in sound and image for Black Eyed Peas but they pulled it off. 'Boom Boom Pow' hasn't aged well though. You don't hear it on the radio as much as 'I Gotta Feeling' which I think has stood the test of time.

Personally, I thought 'Parachute' was a better song. I wasn't a fan of her others.

I completely understand how the chorus for 'Shallow' sounds very similar to 'Fight for this Love'. I never noticed until @jimwatts mentioned it. Who would have thought Lady Gaga would plagiarise other artists' music? 😆

Still not enough really, is it? There's a lot of new songs out there they could play.

I do agree. I think late 00s and early 10s pop represents the attitude of the time, 15 minutes of fame, sex, partying and getting drunk. It feels as if the uniqueness and talent came second. Although, there were some great artists at the time. As opposed to now, where pop music is quite dark and moody.
