I do agree. I think late 00s and early 10s pop represents the attitude of the time, 15 minutes of fame, sex, partying and getting drunk. It feels as if the uniqueness and talent came second. Although, there were some great artists at the time. As opposed to now, where pop music is quite dark and moody.

Whatever happened to Pixie Lott? She seemed to be everywhere in 2009-10. 'Boys and Girls' is a decent pop song but I think 'Mama Do' sounds more fresh and energetic. Impressive that an artist who came from nowhere would score 2 number 1 singles in just a few short months.

I like that Tom Misch song and I'm glad that BBC R1 is moving it up the playlist.

KISS have been speeding up their songs for many years now. I'm guessing it's to make the station sound more upbeat and fresh. I enjoyed the 'Beat of the UK' format KISS had from 2020-24. That's what made it stand out from other commercial radio stations. It's not the first time in the station's history they have become more pop. I remember them playing Olly Murs, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 constantly in the 2010's. I think now that KISS has introduced so many spin-off stations as part of Rayo Premium, it's left the main station with little room for manoeuvre. I tend to listen to BBC R1 over KISS these days.

That Kings of Leon song came from nowhere and went straight to Number 1. I don't mind 'Sex on Fire' but it was so overplayed on the radio back then.

I remember watching Cavegirl as a kid and didn't bat an eyelid. I have read online that the show was controversial because of the skimpy outfits the characters were wearing. I'm guessing they had to be authentic as clothes didn't really exist in the Stone Age. However, the fact that most of the cast were young and good looking was not a coincidence. You don't get programmes like this on children's TV any more. Didn't the CBBC channel go through a phase of aiming towards children aged 12 and above when this originally aired?
