As I do every week, I'm listening to every newly added song to see if I like them. I'm enjoying the 800% slower version of U Smile by Justin Bieber! Very atmospheric/indie;

Highlights of The Week

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

 

Following the huge success of 'California Gurls' I guess it would've been a surprise for Radio 1 to snub this. It's not bad but I suspect it'll have one of those big first week sales then hardly anything from second week onwards. Album should benefit from two big singles and could possibly give Katy Perry a UK #1 album.

 

Kanye West - Power

 

Oddly fascinating video for some reason. I was unsure if this actually was a single but more a "buzz" track to introduce the upcoming album.

Fantastic for Stromae but I was always going to think this. Having heard the new Linkin Park single I was really surprised at the style change - they've also done a McFly and opted for a more electronic sound in 'The Catalyst'. McFly's single is growing on me. :drama: It seems so wrong but yet so...right? :lol: Hurts have stalled so they're unlikely to go A-list but still great to see 'Wonderful Life' on the playlist.

 

C-List

 

* Alex Gaudino - I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It)

 

Really like this and had predicted this would benefit from a fairly quiet sales week and go to no. 1 in the UK. If this eventually goes A-list then it could well happen. :o

 

* Robyn - Hang With Me

 

Really like this - much more than 'Dancing On My Own' which I liked but got boring quickly for me. 'Hang With Me' I'd like to see get recognition in a 'With Every Heartbeat' style and that the record company release 20 different versions/remixes so that when combined it gets a high (top 5 maybe?) chart peak.

 

* Tinie Tempah featuring Eric Turner - Written In The Stars

 

First very good single, imo, from Tinie Tempah following two tracks that had little impact on me. This is so much more atmospheric all thanks to whoever produced the backing track.

LP up to the B-List in line with The Script and most of the other big releases that week then, good for Tinie :D

Glad to see Alfonso Gaudino in the playlist - he's from Salerno Italy (near Naples....just like Planet Funk mastermind) . Not popular here in Italy nut Destination Calabria was an international hit
