Posted October 12, 200916 yr Alexandra Burke’s new single is off to a very strong start at retail, with Bad Boys (Syco) outselling Robbie Williams’ Bodies (Virgin) by more than two to one. Bad Boys, the second single from X Factor winner Burke, sold almost 90,000 copies on its first day of release, way ahead of Williams’ comeback single Bodies, which nevertheless shifted more than 40,000 in a day. Bad Boys now looks almost certain to top the singles chart this Sunday. Current singles number one, Chipmunk’s Oopsy Daisy (Jive), stands in third place in midweek sales flashes, after selling more than 20,000 units yesterday. His debut album I Am Chipmunk was released yesterday, selling around 7,000 copies on its first day, which puts it behind only Editors’ In This Light And On This Evening (Kitchenware) in midweek charts. However, Shakira’s She Wolf album (Epic), another new release this week, is itself only 500 units behind Chipmunk. In a busy week for music retail, new albums from The Saturdays, Taio Cruz, Only Men Aloud, Flaming Lips, The Veronicas and Bob Dylan are all competing to debut in the top 30 of the albums chart this Sunday. Meanwhile, Boyzone’s 2008 compilation album Back Again... No Matter What has re-entered the top 100 following the death of member Stephen Gately last weekend. October 13, 200916 yr [*]Album wise its a battle between Editors, Taio Cruz and Chipmunk for a new #1 album, along with the Saturdays somewhere inside the top 5 Other notable new albums from Shakira, Veronicas, Echo & The Bunnymen, Bad Lieutenant, Blake, The Flaming Lips, Only Men Aloud and Sub Focus all vying for a position inside the top 40. You gotta be kidding Mikey - IMO, after The Editors, Shakira has the best chance of #1!
October 13, 200916 yr Author You gotta be kidding Mikey - IMO, after The Editors, Shakira has the best chance of #1! I'm just not convinced :P Shakira could just nip top 10, more than anything.
October 13, 200916 yr Maybe entries from Michael Jackson This is it single or boyzone or stephen gately re-entries?
October 13, 200916 yr I'm just not convinced :P Shakira could just nip top 10, more than anything. Given the low sales levels ATM, she'll need well under 20k to go top 10, and her single has attracted over 6 times that many buyers...
October 13, 200916 yr Maybe entries from Michael Jackson This is it single or boyzone or stephen gately re-entries? Michael Jackson? It's not released as far as I know
October 13, 200916 yr Poor Robbie, he sales 43K in 1 and half day and will do at least 100K this week and he is not going to be number 1, what a stupid date to release! although I'm happy for his sales... nice for Alex.
October 13, 200916 yr Author Fook me at those sales for Alex :o There is no way Cheryl will get a #1 single next week, with Alex's album out, it won't have a big drop sales hike.
October 13, 200916 yr Is there any updates for Cascada RyanJL? I'm praying Dangerous can scrape top 75 this week! :snif:
October 13, 200916 yr Is there any updates for Cascada RyanJL? I'm praying Dangerous can scrape top 75 this week! :snif: Afraid not looking likely - it's 110-1
October 13, 200916 yr Hi Ryan :) Can you please tell me where P!nk's Funhouse is and how much it's sold so far please? Thanks muchly in advance. VERY poor for Taio in albums... If I recall correctly even Departure reached #7 and its lead single was nowhere near as big.

October 13, 200916 yr Wow, BL sales weren't that high in the first update were they? Poor Robbie too, its just like Take That with RTW up against BL. Any other week they'd have been cert for no.1!
