New single 'Holiday' has leaked. A slower tempo, but still pretty great

WTF. at least 'Headbutt' actually had a bit of a punk feel to it, that song is just plain pop. Do they even say 'f*** the bnp' at gigs any more :/

If i'm honest, you guys don't know what your talking about.

Yes its a different sound but listening to 'Under the Fog' and 'Save the world, Get the girl' can you not hear how different them two albums are?!

So yes its a new more mainstream sound but if they didn't get played on the radio or more widely recognised they wouldn't be getting their message across, they'd be preaching to the converted, now they're making it big, they'll be heard and their message will get through.

have you listened to the lyrics of holiday?!

"He straightens up his bow tie in the mirror

checks that his teeth are squeaky clean

For 35 years he's performed

His proudly politically incorrect routine

By the time the punch line arrives at climax

the silence is deafening

He realises he's the punchline

As the cold truth dawns on him

The spotlight fades out and the smoke disappears

And he shines his eyes right to the back of the hall

Aghast he screams as he falls to his knees and he sees

Ain't no audience after all

Just swarms of locusts and rats and roaches

No applause no bunch of roses

We've moved on now he's dying

Cos we don't want to hear your racist jokes

or your greased lightning"

definitely no message in that is there?! they're still anti racist and all for equality

so think before you start making stupid remarks about what you obviously don't know about!

Yes I definatly don't know what i'm on about? Dont take that tone with me when you clearly dont know me, I have been into this band since Under The Fog was first released, in fact i'm the one who convinced the original poster of this topic to buy their albums, so don't give me $h!t saying I am saying stupid remarks and dont know what I'm on about.

At the end of the day, I respect the message The King Blues attempt to get across but when I look at that band it looks like they (by 'they', I mean Itch) sold out for success, not to get the message across, Itch f***ed over the other original members of the King Blues as well as not letting them have an input creativly for this new album, so he and his major label could produce a w*** record to appeal to the masses, not get the message across, let's face it how many morons hear King Blues on radio 1 and think "i really appreciate the message in this song" or how many think "this is good but it's not quite Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal", I think most of them think the latter.

The King Blues could have been something special, they could have changed views, but now they are nothing special at all, they are just another irritating band on radio 1, and it pains me to say that based upon how good they used to be.

MrMusicMan, i sincerely suggest you read the article i posted to see why i said what i did, before spouting your mainstrean bull$h!t. People like you are what is wrong with the music industry, go listen to sex on fire or something.

then the king blues release 'i got hate' as a b side, that must be proof of their message.

in fact one line is strangely appropriate ... " I hate every dick head that calls me a sell-out, when I can't even afford new shoes".

I didnt actually deny they have no message.

As for the 'i hate every dickhead who calls me a sell out' line, i'd buy him some shoes if he didnt sellout and f*** over his bandmates.

Oh for god's sake! Don't believe all you read!

Yeah Fruitbag left but he wrote a good part of Headbutt, they were touring with it well before he left. Also (just want to note) that he wasn't a founding member, Jamie and Itch were the only 2 when they first started.

Yes Holiday doesn't sound that punky but who ever said they are a punk band?

Don't you think it has a Madness feel about it?

As MrMusicMan said Under the Fog and Save the World are two very different albums but the band's come a long way since Under the Fog. Hell we were unhappy when they rerecorded Mr Music Man but we got on with it because they are a great band.

Chris. you seem to think they're sellouts because they have successful music? I'm sorry did I get the wrong end of the stick with music? I need to make music that won't be on the radio? Yeah that will make me successful.

So let's not talk about selling out shall we - they still chant f*ck the bnp at gigs, they still have their beliefs they've just grown as a band as we all grow as people.

I dont think they are sell outs because they have successful music (let's face it they havent even been that successful anyway)

They are sell outs because:

-They signed to Universal (if were going with the core meaning of selling out, signing to a major label is what is considered the sell out move seeing as it's a move to make more money by creating the music the label tell you to make, not the music you want to make)

As Fruitbag said about after Save The Girl was released:

"Making music that was original and inspiring wasn’t a priority anymore. We had made music that would sell, make money and get played on the radio. Our beliefs about equality and peace became publicity stunts. Anything about the bands character that we thought could sell, we sold."

And with furthur talking about the third album writing Fruitbag talks about how nothing was good enough for Itch (basically itch being a complete twat) as Itch and management saw there was money to be made so the music had to be something that would sell, they were seeing Business over art, and how that isnt a sell out mentality I don't know.

And then when Fruitbag was sick, Itch started giving him abusive phone calls and threats and saying he should be out of the contract, and then had a go at him for doing 3 days work for a friend when he should be "working" for the king blues, despite him needing that 3 days money to actually pay rent.

Itch is only in it for the money highlighted by his push for commercial music and f***ing over his bandmates.

So tell me, why the f*** should I continue to support a musician who does not want to make interesting music, just commercial music, a musician who also completly f***ed over his bandmates. It's clear all Itch wants is fame and money and that is not they way I think music should be made.

I can't believe Harve used the phrase 'I've never f***ed a pig'. Blatent lies all round.
