From Popjustice:

One Direction’s new single is modestly called ‘Best Song Ever’ (!) and will be available to preorder at midnight tonight.

It’s the first song to be taken from their forthcoming third album and a clip of it will be played in a new trailer for their documentary, This Is Us, which will apparently be online at some point today.

The single will be available to download on July 22 and will be released physically on August 19.

According to this here press release, the song has “a sky scraping sing along chorus” and “expands their sound yet remains as irrepressibly infectious as ever”.

Here’s a video teaser thing.

Well my expectations will certainly be high with that title. :o

(And I assume this will be (almost) On Air/On Sale again, woo)

A third album already?

I'll try to be a little more open to this as I've thrown away all their singles because they were 1D before, but found WMYB and LWWY to be pretty catchy in the end

Something tells me this song won't be a self fulfilling prophecy.
This will have no chance of #1 then seeing as it being released the same week as Diana Vickers' 'Cinderella'! :kink:

Sir Edward of Drewett (The Wanted/Olly Murs/his own amazing stuff) has just confirmed on his Twits that he's written this along with Julian Bunetta and John Ryan...

Definitely ready for new music from them!

It doesn't sound as great as the previous two lead singles from the albums from that preview in the trailer, but I'm hoping for something FAB! :D

Doesn't sound brilliant from the clip, but they seem to be following the successful formula of the best two albums with a big-up tempo then a ballad.

The film looks pretty good as well. Although however much they try and tell us it is not scripted, I'm not buying it.

Does this mean Rock Me has been cancelled? I thought Rock You would have done well as a single, it has a summer feel to it.

As good as Rock Me is, I don't really think that would have been a good choice for a single. Something like Last First Kiss or C'mon C'mon would've been better to round the era off.

Rock Me was a good choice but I didn't think it'd ever get a push anyway to be honest. Not even sure it was 100% a single anyway.
Well, the guys are getting hotter with each year. In a couple of years Liam will be so hot he'll have to start a solo career JT-style *.*
I can't stand One Direction. They are dull, not got great voices and highly manufactured. I just wish they would fall down a hole and go away.....

Cool, thanks for sharing. :)

Ed Drewett seems really enthusiastic about this song on Twitter. Strange to see him writing a song for One Direction after writing for The Wanted on a few of their songs. Look forward to hearing it.
