Single is out now (of course it is, they actually care about the fans and not chart positions)

Album: 28th August.

Happy now Pav?

Yes that would have been easier. However that would have required:

a) wisdom
b) forward-thinking

Both qualities I do not possess.

I do like this on first listen. Holy Fire wasn't a perfect album, but it's 2 lead singles were highlights of both years they were released. Interesting to see what the album brings.

From the sounds of it, it looks like this might follow the pattern they used for the release of singles for their last single - ie a longer, more cerebral 'buzz single' to open the campaign OA/OS (a la Inhaler), then followed by a more poppy-accessable song as the main lead-in single (a la My Number)

Wholeheartedly agree BB, I don't think they've quite managed to put together a perfect album yet (although the first half of Total Life Forever certainly showed some promise). Having said that - they don't half crank out some amazing singles, hopefully some energetic numbers like “Balloons” on this LP?

They remain a fantastic live outfit though and I'm looking forward to them touring again! Yay. biggrin.gif

It's not bad - a bit of a return to form for them.

Liking these first two a lot more than the first two we heard from 'Holy Fire'!
Good omen for the album.

I think the melodic part of “What Went Down” and “Mountain At My Gates” hints at the vibe on this LP being more Total Life Forever than Holy Fire and that this is certainly a VERY GOOD thing. !

Called it. "Mountain At My Gates" reminds me of "Like a Prayer" in places, strangely enough.

Another new song “A Knife In The Ocean” has been put up for download now. The lyric video has been directed by Leif Podhajsky.

Sounds a bit Parachutes early-Coldplay era. Very excited for this album indeedy !

So, for the first time ever, I'm really liking a Foals album. It may just be that I've not really listened to many guitars in quite some time but I'm liking it, even if it does basically sound like the best bits from the album with the blue cover (whatever that was called!)

Yes, that would be the one!

I really liked This Orient and Spanish Sahara and then wished the rest sounded more like this album actually does. It makes up for the disappointment of my other download yesterday, The Weeknd's album.
