January 20, 20169 yr Not surprised at all, was actually wondering how long it would be till they moved this to December after how big Episode 7 was! Anyway so excited for this, should be absolutely incredible
January 20, 20169 yr If 18 months wasn't long enough to wait <_< brb locating one of those time capsules from Futurama.
January 20, 20169 yr It appears shooting has been delayed because there needs to be a considerable re-write in order to spend more time with the main characters from VII (due to their popularity) - i.e. Rey, Finn and Poe. This begs 2 obvious questions - Why weren't they going to be in it loads already, especially since Rey seems so integral to the story? And why did JJ Abrams recently say the script was amazing only for re-writes to come into play. Hopefully, part of the re-write is also down to the somewhat muted/negative reaction to Snoke. Maybe they decided to work on him a bit.
January 21, 20169 yr I thought it was coming out then anyway so this news hasn't affected me (aside from perhaps the need for potential rewrites like Severin states).
January 21, 20169 yr Yeah. I'm surprised it was originally as early as March 2017 anyway! This confirms that this will be even bigger in 2017 as it "becomes a tradition" for families to see around Christmas time etc... I hope those reports about the rewrites aren't true though! How can they not have Rey as a vital part to the story originally? :\ So bizarre.
January 21, 20169 yr I wouldn't worry about rewrites, but then I also don't trust a word JJ has to say about any movie he's involved in anyway, so. I'm not worried about it being pushed back at all, given the traditional wait between installments was 3 years, 2 is fine, especially with a spin-off coming every 'off' year anyway.
January 21, 20169 yr I wonder if they're giving Captain Fanta more than 2 minutes of screen-time in this one, after there were so many people talking about how she needed to be in more of it.
January 21, 20169 yr I wonder if they're giving Captain Fanta more than 2 minutes of screen-time in this one, after there were so many people talking about how she needed to be in more of it. As far as I'm aware her role was always intended to be much larger in the 2nd film, and none of the 'rumour' websites are mentioning her
January 22, 20169 yr I just find it hilarious that Phasma was promoted as a 'strong, female character' and yet she was less than useless in TFA.
January 23, 20169 yr Not surprised actually, since Avatar 2 was scheduled for Christmas 2017, its been pushed back yet again.
January 23, 20169 yr If Avatar 2 comes out before 2027 at this rate, I'll be impressed  I really think Avatar 2 may be the hardest box office to predict in ages! By the time it's released, everyone may be over Avatar and it could bomb or the movie is fantastic/looks fantastic and hits the highs of the box office of the 1st one!

I think it could bomb spectacularly. No shock they pushed it back. I don't think the re-writes will be 'that' big. Maybe just a few tweeks here and there, but the central story will remain the same.

February 16, 20169 yr Exciting. I don't get the fascination with Laura Dern, personally. But she's ok.
February 16, 20169 yr Yeah, she's quite good in the things I've seen her in, thinking perhaps she could be Rey's mum (we might see her in some flashbacks, she might even pick up an Oscar nom for it like in Wild :basil: )
February 16, 20169 yr I know it passed a lot of people by but she was fantastic in 99 Homes last year.
February 16, 20169 yr I know it passed a lot of people by but she was fantastic in 99 Homes last year. 99 homes is a movie I really need to watch, is it good? I remember when it looked like Michael Shannon might have got an Oscar nod at one point!
