Would be a huge scoop for her if she decides to take it/if this is true! What do you think? Should she take it or should they offer the role to a broadway star who hasn't been able to work for a while (which is a criticism I've seen)? |

Haven't all of these Disney live action remakes ended up getting awful reviews? I'm not sure they're necessarily a good thing to have your name attached to

Even if they're panned, like WhoOd says, they make an insane amount of money, so if it's bad it won't matter coz it'll still probably triple it's budget at the box office.

Yeah she's been a long-time fan and even recorded that 'Zero to Hero' cover for the We Love Disney album:
There was of course this more recently too: So I like that she has a genuine passion for it and of course she started out in Broadway herself. I can understand where the criticism has come from as this has been such a terrible time for those in the arts. Although under that very same critical viral tweet some other celebrity names have been put in the ring as hopes (Liz Gillies, Zendaya etc) so it does feel like a cheap shot at Ariana more than anything - I would expect nothing less from stan Twitter though. On a selfish level Ari being in it would increase my interest a lot more. Other complaints have been about how she'd fit the role but I don't know it well enough to comment on that. The original Megara voice actress gave Ari her blessing back in 2013 though: |

To be fair pretty much all of the Disney plots (or takes on the original stories plots) are terrible to begin with since they're for kids and I feel like people tend to turn up at the cinema expecting something a bit more adult. The majority of the films get poor reviews for the fact that they pretty much stick to the original script when it was made clear from the beginning that the whole reason for these remakes is due to licensing issues.
Nonetheless it will be a smash hit in the Box Office (which production really needs since the original Hercules was one of Disney's biggest flops) and I can see it's soundtrack doing big things, so I don't think it's all bad. |

'Hercules' is underrated! The songs are right up there as the very best of Disney though.
 Also, I think she'd be fantastic in the role. |

I think Ariana would do very well in the role, especially the singing! The Hercules OST is really good and Ariana's voice would lend itself really well to it.
