A song that spent over 100 weeks in the top 100.

Mr. Brightside of course being the longest runner of all time by a huge margin, got the most answers here with a few hoping that the song would be avoided, well it wasn't for the most part. There's actually quite a few of these massively long chart runners so no big points are scored except for Cameron - unfortunately despite it feeling like the song spent a thousand years in the chart, it didn't quite get to 100 weeks.

A German performer with a top 40 hit.

Clearly there were a lot more Germans with chart hits than I expected and indeed most of us were able to get a pointless answer. I didn't though having gone for Wankelmut but it was Robin Schulz who got the most answers having been one of the more prominent dance producers of the mid-10s. Nicole of Eurovision winning fame also had 2 voters.

26 - Peter Schilling - Ansel [WRONG: his highest chart peak was #42]

A cover version that reached #1 in the 21st century.

A wide range of cover versions to choose from here. Unfortunately for Dobbo and Ansel I did ask for cover versions and not interpolations. Meanwhile it was Gareth Gates for whatever reason that got the most votes with a cover version that is best left in the past (alongside many of these).

26 - F U Right Back (Frankee) - Dobbo [WRONG - it isn’t a cover version, it uses the same melody and backing track as f*** It, but has different lyrics]

26 - Mambo No. 5 (Bob The Builder) - Ansel [WRONG - it isn’t a cover version, it uses the same melody and backing track as the Lou Bega original, but has different lyrics]

2 - Spirit in the Sky (Gareth Gates) - vibe, jimwatts, West

1 - The Tide Is High (Atomic Kitten) - xajnipi, Jade

1 - The Rose (Westlife) - King Rollo, coi

Not going particularly well for me so far! Obviously reverse psychology didn’t work with Mr Brightside! 😂

A rapper with 10 or more top 40 hits.

Most of you got lucky again with a wide variety of hit making rappers to choose from here. Unlucky for those who went for LL Cool J or Skepta as they get 2 points each meanwhile a few more popular rappers are pointless answers.

A top 40 hit by Daft Punk.

Well I decided to throw this in as a tougher question, but I see it backfired on myself having went for the most popular one in Digital Love. Meanwhile their The Weeknd collab I Feel It Coming got no answers at all and Starboy is pointless. Their biggest hit in Get Lucky got only 2 voters as well.

Onto the Family Fortunes portion now...

A novelty song that reached #1, prior to 2020.

Can We Fix It may be over 20 years old now but it still is what most think of as being a big novelty hit clearly. Axel F from the annoying frog also managed a fair amount of voters. Mack however must've misread the question, I did ask for a novelty song. :P

7 - Can We Fix It (Bob the Builder) - King Rollo, JulianT, n4yr, jimwatts, RabbitFurCoat, coi, Chez Wombat, Dan17F1

5 - Axel F (Crazy Frog) - dan::G, paulgilb, Riser, Jade, Cameron, Ansel

1 - We Built This City (LadBaby) - Bré, West

0 - I Love Sausage Rolls (LadBaby) - chrissmith276

0 - Dance Monkey (Tones and I) - Mack

A better start to FF after that Pointless section didn't go well for me, especially after changing my mind from Perfect, Too Close and Technologic on Q's 1, 3 & 5.

A song that had a long climb to its chart peak.

Well... this wasn't what I had in mind when I asked for long climbs as Mariah only climbed for 4 weeks to get to #1 since her lastest re-entry, but this is Family Fortunes and her Christmas effort (which did peak incredibly late in its chart run) is the most popular answer here. Thinking Out Loud, which I very nearly went for but thought Perfect would get more points for being more recent and still in the chart (urgh) is the joint winner, with Feel It Still being the sole non-#1 to get points here having had a very long climb to the top 3.
