Posted August 19, 20213 yr From the company that brought you Essential S Club, now comes Essential Sugababes! Conveniently also with a 1st October Release date 👀 Again appears to be Geo-Locked to the UK but can be bought off amazon UK here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Essential-Sugababe...578&sr=8-1#
August 19, 20213 yr I guess it's a good business move by Spectrum. Mess if this were to peak higher though
August 19, 20213 yr Author The S Club one making top 40 gives hope this might be an 8th top 40 for them! Hopefully this might even help the OT reissue chart a little higher with folks picking up both
August 19, 20213 yr Could they possibly get two top 40 albums on the same week? Hopefully One Touch reissue gets a higher position.
August 19, 20213 yr I wonder if ‘freedom’ will be included? A great track and sad it was never released as a single. Why was it pulled?
August 20, 20213 yr I wonder if ‘freedom’ will be included? A great track and sad it was never released as a single. Why was it pulled? Doubtful since it was "released" via RCA. As for why it wasn't released - virtually no airplay, poor pre-orders and they thought it would miss the top 40.
August 20, 20213 yr Author Yeah it was basically entirely ignored by everyone. No video play or promo slots either. Crown discovered fast they lacked the pull and contacts of a real label and honestly by that point nobody wanted anything from 4.0.   The industry did us all a huge favour and now we don’t have to ever acknowledge the brand recorded something so atrocious
August 20, 20213 yr Interesting release! I'm mostly curious to see the cover, which line-up will they pick?
August 20, 20213 yr Here's all the "Essential" collections they've done so far: https://www.discogs.com/label/1849932-Essential-14Â I'm guessing they'll use 2.0 because that's the only line-up that makes sense to use (especially as Keisha and Mutya are back in the media as Sugababes). I'd lol though if they used 4.0.
August 20, 20213 yr Author 2.0 I can understand as it’s what most associate with the name and it’s also the bulk of the record sales And who Island signed.  However with it being released on the same day as the OT reissue I could see it being 1.0 and as part of a coordinated effort to relaunch them as a band/brand. Especially if it maybe had a solo track or two on there like Don’t Give It Up and Real Girl And Song 4 Mutya
August 20, 20213 yr Oooh, interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing the artwork/track list. It'll be nice to have a physical Sugababes compilation that includes singles released after 2006! The unfortunate thing is that these releases don't get released digitally - S Club 7 charted purely with physical sales.

Especially if it maybe had a solo track or two on there like Don’t Give It Up and Real Girl And Song 4 Mutya "Essential" is a cheap budget series on Spectrum, a part of Universal. At a stretch we might get Flatline on it, but I'm not even sure if they'd own any pictures of 1.0.
August 20, 20213 yr Author London appears to be under Universal these days and island bought a bunch of rights to the OT era, which is how they had them on Overloaded  So it’s not a stretch for them to recycle a MKS era pic I find it hard to believe there is no co-ordination when it comes out on the same day as the re-release. Like surely there has been an element of planning here
September 1, 20213 yr As expected, it's horrendous... 3.0 silhouette on the cover, and only the Island years. Â Â Â Would have been good to get Teardops and 3 Spoons Of Suga back on digital platforms, but this is a physical only release, so... nothing to be gained at all.
September 1, 20213 yr Author It’s from the Polly Tights reshoot they did at the start of 3.0 (and kinda tied into the Red Dress video)  That track list is f***ing wild. It has some mega high points and then some of the worst things they’ve ever committed to record. It’s like someone hit shuffle on their Singles And were like „ok that’ll do“  Any essential collection that includes anything from Shite7 and nothing from One Touch was already on ropey footing but some of the S7 included tracks 😬😬😬
September 1, 20213 yr Author Expectations were low but my god.   I can’t get over this hot mess of a tracklisting  Still have it on preorder because of course
September 1, 20213 yr Wow. The cover is so bad, at least silhouette 2.0 if anyone. The tracklist is indeed random and features way too much Sweet 7. Wait For You next to Maya might be the worst sequencing I've ever seen on a compilation, although highlights the gulf in quality between 4.0 and 2.0 perfectly.
September 1, 20213 yr Author It’s a 3.0 silhouette!! Worst of all, it’ll be the Jade version of Wait For You and that is excruciatingly bad
September 1, 20213 yr Should be Mutya, Keisha and Heidi out of what they had to go with but at least it’s not a 4.0 silhouette  Such a bizarre tracklist outside the first four or five songs on each disc. Like you say, it’s just a shuffle, there’s no regard for flow or anything. I think I’d have just gone 2.0, 3.0 then 4.0, in chronological order of lineups and then by mood and tempo within those parameters. Get Sexy going into Sometimes is another jarring sounding transition  (I’ll also buy the CD anyway though)
