May 7, 20214 yr Now Eurovision is the No.1 compilation :cheer: Must be the first time any Eurovision related compilation has topped the UK chart?
May 7, 20214 yr Martin & Gina loses its non-Top 50 status, as has looked likely for a while. At least it's guaranteed 3 more weeks on SCR, so if it stays out of the Top 40 it will surpass 32 weeks which is the most of any non-Top 40 hit I can recall. Levitating at #24 is not only higher than We're Good ever got, but also higher than Don't Start Now or Physical got once they went to ACR this time last year. It'd still have to go some way to make the EOY top 10, but it could if it continues to hold up.
May 7, 20214 yr "Martin & Gina" has entered the top 50 for the first time, reaching a new peak of No. 48 on its thirtieth week on chart. The only records to take 30 chart weeks or longer to reach their peak: Artist - Title Peak Weeks Needed Mariah Carey - "All I Want For Christmas Is You" 1 98 Wham! - "Last Christmas" 1 83 Christina Perri - "A Thousand Years" 11 57 Amy Winehouse - "Back To Black" 8 54 Elbow - "One Day Like This" 4 54 Chris Rea - "Driving Home For Christmas" 11 50 Journey - "Don't Stop Believin'" 6 42 Elton John - "Step Into Christmas" 8 38 Portugal The Man - "Feel It Still" 3 33 Ariana Grande - "One Last Time" 2 32 Ed Sheeran - "Photograph" 15 32 AJ Tracey - "Ladbroke Grove" 3 31 Ed Sheeran - "Perfect" 1 30 Polo G - "Martin & Gina" 48 30 "Feel It Still" is the only one to do it in a single chart run. "Last Christmas" weeks excludes a further 13 weeks as a double A-side with "Everything She Wants"
Yes, the most Top 100 weeks without making the Top 40 I can find is Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" with 32 weeks and a peak of 42.
May 7, 20214 yr 3 more weeks to go until 'Martin & Gina' finally has a locked in record, which it should get by default unless it makes the top 40 in the next 3 weeks - when it gets to 33 weeks in the chart (it near certainly will since it's still on SCR) then it'll either be the new record holder for most weeks on the chart without making the top 40, or if it still does make the top 40 after that then it appears it'll beat Journey's record for most weeks on the chart before entering the top 40 for the first time (if I am counting from the above numbers correctly, Journey's first top 40 week was in the song's 33rd chart week overall). Watch it now enter the top 40 next week just to ruin the fun  'Martin & Gina' has been close enough to achieving this within a single run - it of course dropped out for a few weeks in December due to the Christmas song invasion though.
May 7, 20214 yr In non 'Martin & Gina' related news, happy to see Baby Keem getting his first UK top 100 hit (mostly down to the Travis collab no doubt, although Keem is not entirely a no name himself, he is Kendrick Lamar's cousin #funfact and had a minor viral hit before with 'ORANGE SODA' which made the low end of the US Hot 100 although never impacted here). Also some good moves in the top 40 this week - didn't post about them in the chart show thread so a belated yay for 'Save Your Tears' finally going top 10 after all (moral #5 peak but I'll accept #8) and the new peaks for 'Astronaut In The Ocean', 'Confetti', 'Rasputin' and 'Little More Love'. And it's not a huge fave for me but I like 'Way Too Long' a lot more than Nathan Dawe's previous hits so pleased that it has at least made the top 40. Fred again.. next please. (I'm happy enough for 'Body' to hit #1 too, not that it was in any doubt of course, huge moment for the UK drill scene). Over on the album chart... have I missed something boosting Elton John's sales/streams this week? Him managing to actually rise despite having 9 new entries ahead, having the 3rd highest album that isn't a new entry :o
May 7, 20214 yr Well there was also Fatback Band - I Found Lovin' which reached the Top 40 on its 52nd week in the Top 100 and peaked at #7 in its 54th. I think the figures above are missing #76-100 for some of the pre-2000s - for the same reason, Mariah's song actually had another 6 weeks so reached #1 on its 104th week.
May 7, 20214 yr Oh yeah, I should have remembered that as it was last brought up not too long ago... nevermind then, 'Martin & Gina' to permanently stay away from the top 40 at all costs :kink:
May 7, 20214 yr Another late peaker was Goo Goo Dolls - Iris, which reached #3 on its 55th week in the Top 100.
May 7, 20214 yr “Astronaut on the Ocean” feels so much bigger than a no.14 hit. Same as Glass Animals only getting to 19 so far.
May 7, 20214 yr Both are currently at their peaks so they could still climb further - I did think Masked Wolf looked like he was well on course to enter the top 10 a few weeks ago and he ended up stalling but still, a new peak this week so the top 10 possibility is still there.
May 7, 20214 yr Yes, the most Top 100 weeks without making the Top 40 I can find is Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" with 32 weeks and a peak of 42.You mean 'Believer', right?
May 10, 20214 yr Over on the album chart... have I missed something boosting Elton John's sales/streams this week? Him managing to actually rise despite having 9 new entries ahead, having the 3rd highest album that isn't a new entry :o I think Rocketman was added to Netflix which could account for the increased interest in his back catalogue.
May 10, 20214 yr Yeh for sure, I Listened to ‘Diamonds’ for the first time this weekend after watching the film for the first time on Netflix, great show as well!
May 10, 20214 yr The video streaming chart continues to be a mess. 'Life Is Good' completely falls out of the top 100 after 68 consecutive weeks in the top 10 since release.
May 10, 20214 yr The video streaming chart continues to be a mess. 'Life Is Good' completely falls out of the top 100 after 68 consecutive weeks in the top 10 since release. This actually isn't the OCC messing up - its daily YouTube views really did just suddenly plummet recently. I always thought its YouTube longevity seemed suspicious, apparently it was being heavily recommended by the YouTube algorithm for ages after its release (being a 'related video' within a few clicks of nearly anything) but that's no longer the case which has caused its daily views to fall from several million to just a few hundred thousand which is much more believable. ""Coincidentally"" this seems to have happened right as the song was certified diamond in the US. I guess they thought that was enough of an achievement and turned off their payola / bots...
