Dizze at 3 :puke:

The reason why the leading album tracks by Dizzee and Tinchy were both covers is that they're hugely overrated, unoriginal artists, repackaging everyone else's ideas for chav consumption... :P

I disagree :o

Tinchy and Dizzee are both very clever and talented artists who have managed to tap perfectly into the mainstream where others have failed, Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me, Take Me Back, Number 1 and Never Leave You (and to a lesser extent Holiday) are all perfect crossover songs with brilliant production and awarness of their audience

like them or not (and I love both of them) they have helped to rejuvinate parts of the British music industry in the last couple of years

They're hugely talented, highly original artists, repackiging chav ideas for everyone elses consumption. Well, Dizzee is anyway.

Yeh, but they won't impress anyone off these Isles we live on, they will be laughed at! Its just a shame theres a whole lot of morons here to dive on anything they release..

As for No.3 on the itunes chart...please if you have to have the song, buy the album!...Actually the whole top 10 on that chart depresses me..

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about what artists like them have done for the music industry, and that the UK music scene is bigger than it was five years ago, but Dizzee or Tinchy could never break the states. The UK is not producing artists of an international calibre right now, we're producing music that appeals to a certain (large, admittedly) section of the British public. But in 10 years, will people really remember Chipmunk?

Probably not, no. But every phase has those types of artist. People probably won't be remembering Pixie Lott or Little Boots (:() as the 2020s loom, people aren't going to remember Athlete or The Zutons in five years time. How many throwaway pop acts had various top 10 hits in the late 90s and are still remembered today? It's certainly far from being all...

Dizzee Rascal is a hugely talented artist. His cross-over appeal is MASSIVE. People can say he makes chavvy music, but seriously his music appeals to a mass variety of people. He's a very talented man. He's become more mainstream over the years, but just look at him now - arguably one of Britain's biggest solo artists in the UK. I don't think saying he couldn't crack America is a very fair thing either. Which artists have really cracked America from Britain over the past 5 years? James Blunt (i'm sure 'Your Beautiful' was used in some ad/TV programe tho...), Leona Lewis (good song she released, but she had mass money behind her), Jay Sean (he's probably got America's biggest current artist on his song tho) and Coldplay. Cracking America isn't the be all and end of of a successful artist and too much emphasis is put on breaking the American market imo - you need money to break America. Dizzee's on his own record label as well. Part of being a successful rap artist is sampling old songs and rapping over them... Kanye West, Jay-Z etc. have both done it to great effect before.

Tinchy OK he's maybe not so talented as Dizzee but he's still proper talented. Chipmunk's like 19 as well? He's pretty talented imo. Especially at such a young age.

Chipmunk's lyrics in 'Oopsy Daisy' are amazing! Very clever!

Tinchy has a chance of breaking the states. He's already recorded a video for a song with Lil Jon and if that goes well he could make a career for himself out there. I dont think thats bad for someone most people hadnt heard of a year ago.

I did buy the album, but now wish I'd only bought that track as most of it is nowhere near as good as the singles :(

The lyrics in 'Oopsy Daisy' are absolutely amazing, he's a complete lyrical genius. 'You've seen me go from a boy to a man, so this must really be the end of the road', fantastic line, great lyrical reference. It's really changed my opinion of him..

they may not be producing music of an international calibre but they are certainly influencing the music of US artists in a way that they never did before with the crossover urban/electro sound

listen to this current US top 10 hit for example;

samples Brit Imogen Heap and has production that is incredibly reminiscent to a Taio/Tinchy song, especially in the last couple of minutes...clearly he's the first of many that are evidently influenced by British output!

There are updates. You can see in this thread (but for your eyes only): http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100022

[***] 117| Cobra Starship - Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Leighton Meester)

[183] OUT| Leighton Meeste & Cobra Starship - Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Leighton Meeste)

This is exactly the same song, same track, same remix (J Weezy Lose Control Remix). iTunes have just renamed it because it was incorrect.

I see where you're coming from. That's not a very good song tbh, but I can hear similarities between it and, say, Never Leave You. Did we really invent that sound though? I'd agree it's European but with David Guetta producing Black Eyed Peas (and doing their best work ever, I actually LOVE The E.N.D, in case anyone thinks I'm anti-urban, or worse) I'm wondering if it's something that comes from the European dance scene originally...

That said I think that Dizzee and/or Tinchy will get their first US number one when hell freezes over :smoke:

I love it, but then I'm partial to seemingly nearly all types of urban music these days :heehee: I can see it being a big hit here if/when it gets released
