September 13, 200915 yr AF = artist forum The issue I have with this is who decides which are the anticipated comebacks that shouldnt be allowed, what are the limits on this? I agree - the AF thing is fair enough but atleast that is a measurable limit. One person may anticipate a comeback from an artist whilst others may not.
September 13, 200915 yr Not a bad idea, but it seems to punish newer artists. For example, someone can - and tbh will - send Sugabababes - About A Girl to XXI, even though it would be equally as cheap as the Cheryl single... Good otherwise though. My big announcement - I WILL host XXI. reservation will begin tomorrow (Monday) night. I am away until then and I think it makes sense to have a gap...
September 13, 200915 yr But 'About A Girl' is the 2nd single from this era though. (Which is what I presumed they meant)
September 13, 200915 yr I think the new rule is fair to be honest, I know there will be a backlash from some certain quarters, its seems sensible to me. And its better to leave the reservation thread for at least 24 hours, its not going to affect me anyway, for what I have in mind no one is going to poach my artists they are practically unknown.
September 13, 200915 yr Author Maybe the first two singles of any album.Thats what i meant. First two singles from new albums of AF's I agree - the AF thing is fair enough but atleast that is a measurable limit. One person may anticipate a comeback from an artist whilst others may not. It's mass anticipation. Like SuBo//Alex Burke. Exemptions will be thought out long and hard and won't be handed out to anyone. Not a bad idea, but it seems to punish newer artists. For example, someone can - and tbh will - send Sugabababes - About A Girl to XXI, even though it would be equally as cheap as the Cheryl single... Good otherwise though. You can't open reservation until we give you the go ahead btw. We wanna get all the questions surrounding this answered and get this all sorted.
September 13, 200915 yr what if a member reserves a song from an AF artist before its announced as a single/2nd single? :heehee:
September 13, 200915 yr Not a bad idea, but it seems to punish newer artists. For example, someone can - and tbh will - send Sugabababes - About A Girl to XXI, even though it would be equally as cheap as the Cheryl single... Good otherwise though. Nooo...it means singles from a certain album/campaign. "About A Girl" is the second single, so is also not permitted. Don't get me started on the exceptions bit. I don't think an AF ban was the right way to go about it as some AF artists are obviously less cheap than others. But it seemed more fair than saying "you can't send X, Y and Z". While I can see the need for this, I think it's funny how people were whining about lack of choice over the ban of NF songs and now we're going and banning something else. These entries are unwanted, but I honestly think people know better than to send singles by Leona, Madonna, Sugababes etc.
September 13, 200915 yr Can the reservation thread not just be opened randomly this time though? It's a bit unfair to people who aren't in the UK timezone. Half the time I'm asleep when the thread is posted. I doubt anyone else is going to reserve Lolene/Dragonette, but you never know.
September 13, 200915 yr Author I read it as debut's but it's a double d'oh if you are correct for me. yeah, he's right. It also kills most album leaks as they tend to come out after single 1 and before single 2 is announced. ^_^
September 13, 200915 yr Can the reservation thread not just be opened randomly this time though? It's a bit unfair to people who aren't in the UK timezone. Half the time I'm asleep when the thread is posted. This please, it seems the fairest way too if we know a time and all that.
September 14, 200915 yr I understand that you want to minimalise "cheap" entries and such, but it should be all AF's that are banned. If an artist is popular enough to have their own forum, they should be excluded too. I mean, didn't they just get rid of a few of the less popular forums? So all the popular forums still stand. If you're going to ban AF's you can't just say 1-94 are banned & 95-100 are allowed. It's not on.
September 14, 200915 yr But some AF's are only popular and have stayed coz of about 2 people. (for example the Bev forum is basically Aaron and Aled LOL) So I can see why they've had a couple of exceptions.
September 14, 200915 yr I think if this rule is going to implemented then all AFs should have the same restrictions on them. I mean who decides which artists are allowed and which aren't? A list should be made soonish tbh to avoid the confusion. I don't really think it's necessary anyway. Cheap songs never win so I don't see the point tbh.
September 14, 200915 yr I don't really think it's necessary anyway. Cheap songs never win so I don't see the point tbh. IMO, the point is that cheap songs aren't even entered now so there is more space for good unknown songs that deserve recognition.
September 14, 200915 yr Well this doesn't really affect me as I always go for unknown artists, but I'm hoping that if people reserve something and the mods say it can't be sent that they don't take it personally and leave :o
September 14, 200915 yr This please, it seems the fairest way too if we know a time and all that. Deal tbh. I don't know exactly when I'm going to be home yet, but let's say 7pm?
